Those ones of the goose running to take off are brilliant. I've tried that with the moorhens here, but all I ever get in focus are the water splashes and not the birds .

I think they were landing and it was just sheer luck that I got what I did; almost missed it.

I got this first photo of Mrs Robin this morning - she'd been flying to and fro feeding her second brood who have just fledged, and was taking a pause in the sunshine.
The second photo was later on after a very heavy shower.

Third photo is a young blue tit - the blue is just starting to show.

Two young cygnets, and a swan.

Those are great photos! You should put those cygnets in the book challenge for Ugly Duckling. You're lucky that you can photograph a swan and it's little ones. The only way I'll ever see a swan out here is in the zoo and there doesn't seem to be any anymore.

I've had pine siskins in my yard lately and I just love them. They are so delicate looking, kind of like the chickadees. They love to come have a snack on my feeding shelf right below the dining room window, and thats how I got these shots--through the dirty window

All your bird photos are really great. I like to see the photos of all the different birds. When I am able I will post some of my bird photos.

Lisa, love the pine siskins....love that little bit of yellow/lime on the wings. Sabrina, the blue tit is so pretty (I love everything blue!) I'm not very good at bird photography....I guess I just don't have enough patience to wait for them!
Maria, I'll look forward to seeing your photos! Welcome to the photo challenges!

That little flash of colour on the siskins is lovely. We have ordinary siskins here, but I'd never heard of pine ones before - they do look sweet. Sunflower seeds?

Either click on the Reply button just under the most recent post, or click on Go Advanced under the reply box under the recent post.
Under Additional Options look for Manage Attachments, click on that and follow what it says. It's like uploading to the gallery - a box opens where you browse to select the file you want to upload. It can't be too big, and you can upload up to 5 although it just says 3.

I'm posting this photo of a seagull, not because it is unique or that I got such a clear shot of him, but just because I like the composition of the photo. Last week we were swimming in a limestone quarry and after wards were having a snack beside the rock, when this bird perched just above us.

I think gulls are quite photogenic. As birds I don't really like them, but they do make great photo subjects.

I found some little mallard chicks on Saturday and went back for another peek at them today. They took a nap soon after I arrived - much easier to take photos of than when they're swimming around!

I got a couple of good videos too. There's one on my blog, I won't get the other uploaded till tomorrow.

Here are a couple of shots I took in July.
The first one is an Eastern Kingbird. I took this last weekend at Rondeau Provincial Park.
The others are seagulls and they were shot at the Blue Water Bridge and area in Sarnia, ON. Seagulls are not my favorite bird either but they do indeed make an interesting shot.

Love those quail with their little crests - and background is a very visually interesting composition too - even if that's just luck not design .
You must be in Australia, are you Maria? I like the goose and lorrikeet shots (what wonderful colour!!), but the black swans is my favourite.

Again this morning when I was in town early. It was raining when I left home, but had cleared up, and as I had a little time to spare I went to the park (not my normal one, this is just a small one in the centre of the city) and spotted a heron.
I had a better photo of the moorhen, but not one that shows off those super-size feet. They never cease to amaze me!

Here are a couple of more shots I took in August.

one is a pair of Blue Jays that landed in a tree behind the fence in our backyard.
one is a Cedar Waxwing
one is a wild turkey. They reintroduced them to Southern Ontario a couple of years ago and we see them quite often at the parks.

Thanks Lyneen - I enjoy photography as much as my other hobbies - scrapbooking, cardmaking, quilting, painting and more. That's why I call my blog Crafty Violet's Chaos! You never know what I'll post - a little of all of the above and more. You should see my "studio" (aka the basement).
