Default Photo challenge #116 {March 1/11}

Photo challenge #116. Architectural details. I've been very busy since I got home from Texas, working nights and trying to get other things done. so I have not been able to get the photos I wanted for this challenge. I will get more pictures up tomorrow, but I did want to post this challenge now, as I will be in class all day today.
Lets show some architectural details.....wherever you may find them, whether on the outside of a house or building or inside or even fences, as you can see I took a photo of.
I've always love the dormer windows on a house. Second photo is the corner post of a fence my neighbour built.
Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.

This sounds like a really fun challenge. I love looking out for all the little details in streets, and roofs and so on.

Well, I had a photo I'd taken last week, but I went out this morning and took it again , along with several others.
Farmleigh House is near us, and I often go there for walks on a nice morning.

First photo is the weathervane on the gazebo.
Second photo is one of the stained glass windows in the dairy.
Third photo is a detail on the gazebo. It was only last week I noticed the way just the outside of the Ionic capital is painted.

First photo is a modern building at the entrance to the park.
Second photo is the gate lodge of Farmleigh.
Third photo is one of the chimneys on the big house.

Sabrina, your photos are exactly what i was looking for when I posted this challenge! My favourites are the weather vane and the chimneys on the big house. I hope to go out today to get some decent pictures, if this bitter wind will let up. It's -8 C degrees, sunny, but with a wicked wind!

It's such a sunny morning today, that I stopped on the way home from work to take pictures.
The first photo is of the cornices on a house across from the hospital where I work. The second is of one of the older buildings downtown. I believe that it was originally a hotel. The third picture is of the front of my neighbour's house. Two of my new neighbours have built large homes and it appears as if the columns at the front door are announcing their elevated status in society

Two more...... I drive past this house every time I go in to town, but never really noticed the trim on the house. The trim along the roof line is different from the trim on the veranda.

You can see the sunshine, I hope it gets rid of your snow soon. I like the trimmings on the house, and the building across from the hospital. It's funny what you see when you start looking! That's certainly a fancy entrance on you neighbour's home.

I think the rain will get rid of more snow than the sunshine did. It rained all afternoon and due to rain all night and tomorrow too....possibly as much as 1 inch in all. Hopefully the skiing will still be good next Tuesday as I have a ski date with my friend Eve then.
My neigbour's entrance should be fancy... the house cost $1.6 million to build! But I have another neighbour who felt challenged to build a house even bigger than that one (and succeeded too!) Here are the columns at his entrance.

Keeping up with the Joneses!!
I certainly thought that when we had rain it cleared the snow a lot faster than the sunshine. But when we had sun it was still so cold - you could see snow melting on the trees and then freezing again before it hit the ground. I'm sure that's fairly normal for you, but it's pretty strange to see here.

I was out in my old home town on Friday visiting my aunt. I finally got a photo of a bell, off to find that challenge now, but I took a few more for this challenge too.

The weather vane on the library. The library looks tiny when I see it now, but it was a big part of our life going there when we were little.
Chimney pots
I asked my aunt once how long this wooden house had been there. She had to drive me to the station down that road so I could point it out to her, she'd never noticed it. It certainly wasn't there when I lived there.

Arizona's territorial capitol building, now a museum, has a copper dome and a wind vane called winged victory. The building was constructed with all native materials.

The copper domes here all go green pretty quickly with verdigris - it's lovely to see one that's really coppery like that!
