Default Photo Challenge #110 ~Sing, Sing a Song {01/17/2011}

Back-story for this challenge: when I was looking through the letters we had already used a couple of weeks back, the order I wrote them down in was SATB - which to me is soprano, alto, tenor, bass. So that was the germ of this challenge. Since it's definitely a bit challenging to ask for photos of people singing, it's much more of a free-for-all. All I ask is that your photo sparks off a line or the title of a song.
Bonus points if you share a song that you would like to do a photo-shoot for .
I do hope that this challenge is one that is accessible to people.

Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share onlycurrent photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ You can jump in and start any of the photo challenges at anytime..
~ Again - HAVE FUN

Dredged up from my archives way back when we had a group that met to sing in four-part harmony in our house. As some moved on it morphed into a younger group with people we knew who were still in college, but when they too moved on it faded away. We were short of women by then anyway, DH was ending up singing alto more often than tenor or bass .

I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down. (Thank goodness for the rain in this case; at last the rolling water restrictions that have been in place since Christmas are being eased.)

The weather cooperated with my Rainy Days, and even gave me a rainbow for
Somewhere Over the Rainbow...Away above the chimney tops
OK, so it's not much of a rainbow, but I couldn't order one up on tap.
The same weather meant that I couldn't get a photo of the chimney-tops I wanted, it was blowing a gale all weekend. Instead I had to settle for these ones where I get off the bus in town - but the skies are blue .

The song I would love to take photos for - Dan Fogelberg's It's Maine and it's Autumn. It's one of my top favourites of the songs DH sings and it conjures up so many visual images - the birches turning, the lobster boats, the fog, the waves, the ice...

Slightly more likely, since we have a standing invitation to Tanzania is Toto's song Africa, with the line about Kilimanjaro rising above the Serengeti - if ever we have both the money and the time. I'd still prefer Maine .

Bad phraseology on my part, maybe. But I think I got it from our local council website. They've been cutting off the water every night, but rotating the cuts around 3 different areas, and it just kept on rolling over from one week into the next. We're going to just have low pressure instead of no water from this week, which is an improvement.

Thanks Sabrina. In the US it's called water rationing. I think California does or at least used to ration water especially with the lawnds. Odd numbers water on certain days and hours and even house numbers water on different days and hours. So far Arizona hasn't done that.

I'm leaving on a jet plane...
I have a much more picturesque photo of a contrail taken at sunset looking over some old buildings in Dublin Castle - but this is fresh out the camera this morning.
I am also leaving my mind somewhere - I nearly lost my lens cap, and it would have been the second one in that garden. Luckily I found it by the lake when I went back.

Sabrina-I'm with ya, girl! After replacing 3 lens caps and Canon not having any with a tether I put my brain into overdrive yesterday and came up with my own design to keep the cap with the lens. It works perfectly and I'm thrilled to know I won't have to keep replacing them. Plus, I just read in a photo book that putting your cap in your pocket with all the lint puts that lint on your lens. I will take a pic and share with anyone interested.
Can't wait to take a photo for this challenge. Just have to wait til my "subject" returns home from her "wondering." teeheehee

Yes please, do share a photo. About half my lenses are the same size and I have one spare, but needless to say the one I lost before, and nearly lost today, was the biggest and most expensive to replace. Hence going back to retrace my steps!!

Sabrina I like that "Leaving on a Jet Plane" When I had my Minolta 202 manual film camera I had a lens cap for each and every lens and the cap came with a stickum thing with an elastic band that went on the front of the cap and the elastic band around the barrel of the lens. I currently have a cap for my Nikon D60 but don't use it.

I will get the deets on making a tether for your lens caps in the morning. I need help taking a couple of the pictures so I can be pointing to where I am talking about.

For the sing, sing..I have: Billy Joel's 'We didn't start the fire' and then one from childhood: 'How much is that doggie in the window? The one with the waggly tail.' (My grandson loves me singing that one to him. Luckily, he is too young to know that 'grandma can't carry a tune any better then a mouse can carry an elephant'!)

Thanks for compliment on my dog. As for not being able to carry a tune: in second grade while rehearsing to sing a farewell song to one of the nuns, my teacher 'suggested' I just move my lips! However, you should hear me sing like a pro while in the shower when nobody is home. Man, I sound GOOD! (to myself!)

Lovely dog, I agree. I like the bonfire shot - it brings back memories of midnight bonfires at the top of a mountain when I used to do Easter camps with teens.

Default Songs

The first picture is a scrapbook LO we just finished in club a few days before this challenge was posted. It seemed perfect for the subject. The second picture is a setup shot. Background is this: I have this little one-eyed monster thing sitting on my desk at work. When you squeeze it's foot it sings Sugar, aww honey, honey by the Archies but not the way the Archies singing it. It is sung by someone who can't carry a tune in a bucket just like me. So it's pretty funny and the office gets a kick out of it. So the picture is the second part of the sing "Honey, aww sugar, sugar". It's a bit of a flip on the subject I guess - the song inspired the photo rather than the photo reflecting a song. Anyway TFL.

That second photo made me laugh - it's brilliant. I have a staged shot in mind too, but we had visitors over the weekend, so I won't get daylight again till tomorrow. It's a brilliant take on the challenge.

LOL, I think I'll stick with Mary Poppins as being a bit less scary. It's amazing the way they are just wing to wing along the edge of the store.

Seeing as I am musically challenged, I've had trouble linking a photo to an actual song, but here is a kindergarten song........'the wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round.......'

Now why couldn't I think of that?! But then I seem to only see school buses when I'm driving and I'm sure as glad that I don't have to deal with that kind of snow any more. When I'm lonesome for snow, I can take a run up north and say hi snow goodbye snow

I love to see those yellow school buses. We don't have special ones here these days, just regular ones on charter. Maybe in the country there are still some of the older ones...
Nothing wrong with your inspiration, either, a song is a song is a song.
Well, maybe there is something wrong because it'll be going through my head this morning, LOL.

Sorry Sabrina!
Audrey, I would miss the snow if we didn't have it! Mind you, I had to shovel my driveway 4 times in the past week and my neighbour blew it out once with the snowblower. I have a nice big shovel that you push the snow with rather than lift it. Makes it much easier and a good excuse to get some fresh air and exercise.

Great photos. I must do my still life today.
Unfortunately I DID have The Wheels on the Bus going round and round my head all day yesterday, but I've only heard Tie me Kangaroo down a couple of times, so I'll be checking that on YouTube later. The elephant song I don't think I've ever even heard of, but it reminded me of Colonel Hathi's March in the Jungle Book .

Sabrina you can also check Baby Elephant Walk on You Tube but it wont have the words. Here are the words-

"Make believe you're in a jungle movie.
Watch the baby elephants go by.
The beat is groovy.
It's a brand new dance you ought to try,
Come to the jungle and see the animal attraction,
baby elephants in action walk.

See the big baboon beat on the bongo
as the baby elephants advance.
Down in the Congo,
all the swinging monkeys do this dance,
Come to the jungle and see the animal attraction.
Baby elephants in action walk.

If you plan on joining a safari,
don't get dressed for going on a cruise.
The thing to carry is an extra pair of dancing shoes.
Come to the jungle and see the animal attraction.
Baby elephants in action walk."

My step daughter had a baby shower the other day and they played this game with having to feed someone applesauce while blindfolded. It was hilarious! Anyway, this picture reminded me of the song Baby Face, you've got the cutest little baby face! : )
