Default Photo Challenge #103 ~ A Little Bit About Me {11/30/2010}

No excuses for not participating in this one - it's totally accessible to everybody . We've had a straightforward self-portrait challenge before. This week's challenge can include a straight self-portrait or close-up on yourself, but also anything that shows a facet of you - your character, your personality, your hobbies, whatever...inside your closet, your desk, it's all good.

Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ You can jump in and start any of the photo challenges at anytime..
~ Again - HAVE FUN

My pictures are a very few of my collection of over 100 cookery books. I've included my very first one - the Zebra Cook Book, and the Jane Grigson Vegetable Book and the Cordon Bleu Cookery one are two that travelled round the UK with me when I worked as a cook for various families over there. Well, actually it's a replacement copy of the Cordon Bleu - the first one fell apart with use .
Second picture is more books - one of our 7 bookshelves full and overflowing. I was puzzled once when we were moving and the removal man who had come to give us a quote thought we had a lot of books when all he'd seen at that stage was my cookery book collection. When he'd seen how many books there really were he asked what I did with them...
Last photo is me - I did a lot of experimenting with and without flash and with long exposures, and I reckon I like this the best because it shows movement. The piano used to be in my bedroom at home when I first moved out of the nursery with the other two. I'd love a new one; this one was second-hand forty-something years ago, and at this stage the ivories are getting chipped which irritates me when I'm playing. The tuner said he could replace them but he'd have to replace them all or it would look strange. I can dream...

Now - let's see a little bit about YOU!

Not to be picky or anything but you do realize there are only 30 days in November, right? LOL I look forward to getting some pics and posting after work today or tomorrow. Thanks for what is going to be a fun challenge.

Ha, yes I do, really. I even said the rhyme to myself as I was working it out... My brain is frozen, so when I looked at my watch and it said 31 I just went with it. I can't edit the title either, unless I ask Lydia to do it for me.

Default challenge: a bit about me

OK...well, family is me I guess. The one that looks staged---was...it is the last time bar one that we were all able to be together in one house for a holiday.....the red shirts are the grandkids, the green shirts are our 4 and their spouses/fiancees and the blue shirts are grandpa and myself....used a remote cable to trigger this one on Thanksgiving day in 07. Our third wedding/first son in 08, and these are the two youngest grands serving as flower girl and ring bearer...... and the last one is the lights of Union Station in Kansas City.....my first ever try at night time architecural(sp) shooting.

LOL....yes I noticed the date too! Sabrina, you should be able to edit the date.....I've done it before.
Pansy.....family, isn't that what it's all about? I love the group photo and the little wedding grandchildren are charming. Great evening shot too!
I just wish my grandsons were here so I could use them for this challenge!

I could fill many pages with photos that define me. But I will start out with 3. First photo....my career as a nurse is a big part of who I am. I have worked in our small community hospital for 23 years and in a town of 12,000 you get to know a lot of people and also are known by a lot of people. When my name is mentioned, people often reply....'Oh, yes, the nurse".
Photo two. I LOVE dark chocolate and that is one of the reasons that I have been struggling with some weight issues for the past 15 years (that, and working the night shift!) So, I have joined a gym this past week and my swipe card is on top of the chocolate.
Photo three; I have been a voracious reader all my life (my favourites are mysteries) but for the past several years my books have had to share the shelves with stamping supplies (which is a big interest of mine right now.

I remember you mentioning your uniform before - a lot nicer than plain white - or blue, or whatever. Yum yum, I love that Lindt orange. My older half-sister was anorexic during her twenties, and as my mother panicked any time I felt I needed to lose weight once I got to my late teens and any time after, I've always tried to keep my weight well in control - seems funny to be able to find a positive from those years.
I love your shelves.

For me, I am about family, the tractor shows our family attend and food...
The picture of my kids I took this fall at a local park, the crawler is me on my 1944 Cletrac HG42....I call her Buttercup..and the pepperoni rolls are some that I made for the 3 day tractor show ( I made 18 dozen that day!)

I thought I would do a collage. I belong to the American Sewing Guild (ASG) and make nap quilts for them among other things. I also make lap quilts for the VA. The Yorkie is my little four legged nephew. I like to take photographs of clouds and use them in my cards. Grand Canyon is my favorite place but unable to hike it anymore (or any place else for that matter) thanks to a semi rear-ending me at 65-70 mph. Texas is my VERY most favorite state though I live in Arizona. I also enjoy going out into the desert and taking photographs.

The collage is a cool idea, Armadillo - a great way of capturing all those different facets of you.
Yum, those rolls are making me feel that it's time to get up and have some breakfast, but it won't be as good as they look. Nice to see you and your crawler.
By the way - I'd love to see the rings you mention in your signature some time. Several times I've tried to work out if and how they link to anything, but I've never managed .

Audrey, I absolutely love your collage! I hope you make that into a scrapbook page! All the photos are superb! Texas is also my favourite state, even though I am a Canadian. All my grandkids live in Austin.
BTW Audrey, I received your wonderful stamped photo card last week. Thanks! I will show it to my SIL too!

Cool picture -I like the background.
If you flipped it, would Canon show not mirror image, I wonder?

I tried it, and it did!! It looked a little funny, though... since I'm used to looking at it the other way.
