I really like the contrast between the soft cloud and the frozen ice.
I meant to share this one I took one morning last week. At first I thought it was a contrail, but I'm sure it was a cloud. It was there before breakfast when I went out to snap the sunrise, and it was still there when I was walking to the bus stop for work.
There were still great clouds when I actually got into work, too.
I liked how all the dense storm clouds were contained in the centre of the rainbow on the third shot, which was after a rainstorm on Wednesday.

Oh, Cook, your pics are so pretty. That double rainbow is perfect. I have a couple of good pic of rainbows over the years but I have to take a bunch to find the 'right' one within the batch. lol

I was going to go outside and take a picture of our grey skies today. Then I was going to explain how the clouds all crashed into one another and now they look like mush. But decided against it............will save my energy for the Super Bowl..lol Go Pack.

So it was nice and clear here yesterday evening, we were planning on going out to eat, kids were outside playing and I was in the bathroom changing my shirt so we could leave when I heard what I thought was the tornado siren. Sure enough it was! My mom called and said they were seeing it but it was more out in the country so we drove up to their place as we that is who were going out to eat with and this is what we could see from my brother's place (he lives right next door to my parents and that is where everyone was standing): (last picture there is a start of a rainbow on the right side while it is still raining on the left side)

Those are amazing shots for this challenge. I think I'm glad we don't live in a tornado area - the idea of a tornado siren sounds so alien. The colours in the third photo are great.

Amber.....a funnel cloud.....so cool to get a great shot! We also live in a tornado corridor. Had a tornado touch down on April 26 this year, but only did slight damage to the back of a department store. The last time we had a major tornado, it took a sweep through less than 1/3 mile from my house but I slept through it. I was working nights and I did wake to hear a wind and rain, but I thought to my self....'good, it's raining' and went back to sleep. When I got up and went for my usual walk, I wondered why there was so much traffic on our quiet country road. Then I saw all the trees uprooted, cottages damaged. That tornado in 2005 took a very wide and long swath....probably over 100 miles and did a lot of damage, but no lives were lost. Although not part of the actual tornado, the high winds took down three trees in my backyard. So I have a healthy respect and fear of tornados, and would probably not be as brave as you, to chase it and get photos!

It's been raining here for two whole days and forecasted to rain the rest of the week too! But last evening, on my way home from church, the sky cleared long enough for a gorgeous sunset, while it was still sprinkling rain. I never get tired of looking at and photographing sunset skies! I am also including a shot of the rainbow, even though it is not actually a cloud!

Sabrina - This was my first ever time seeing a funnel cloud. Everyone in town was out trying to see it..even stopping on a major road to get pictures. I had friends out at the high school walking the track that saw it form before the sirens even went off. They just kept walking. You could tell by looking at it that it wasn't going to do anything. As far as I know it never touched down. I also have friends whose backyard it was "growing" in... she was freaking out but he wanted to take a picture but couldn't find the camera!! That would have been some cool shots if he could have taken pictures!! (we were hoping it would have gone just across the top of those trees but stop before it hit any houses.. that would have been neat to see)

I just hate hearing the sirens go off at night cause that's when it is scary, can't see a thing. We move next month into the country and out there you can't hear the sirens at all.

My last picture is also my fav cause of the colors. It was such a fun day.

I think I'd have been freaking out too! I don't mind thunderstorms and quite enjoy watching those, but their violence seems more contained - and anyway we don't really get spectacular ones here, the best I've seen have been on the continent. But it's a shame your friend's husband couldn't find the camera at the time.

Ina, those are amazing - the sky looks like fire or molten metal in the first one. And I'm not sure I've ever seen an evening rainbow before. It even looks to me as if it's a double rainbow. We did see an amazing evening sky driving back from the North last Sunday night, but I didn't think I could capture it from the car - maybe I should have tried anyway.

Had another severe storm last night. Went out just by chance and saw the storm rolling in. Pictures 1 and 1a, that's how fast the clouds were moving as I took them within seconds of each other. Came back inside and sirens went off. Just strong wind, no damage or power lost here but some cool pictures! Last picture is of the storm moving on, I darkened the picture so you could see the clouds better.

The last photo is fabulously atmospheric. It's funny, just this evening DH was looking at a photo and saying how hard it is to get detail in a cloud unless you darken up the rest of it.

We had, for once, some great clouds this morning. So I took my camera out - no memory card. And because I'm still test-driving my new Canon, I only have one card. I keep a spare for my regular camera in my purse just because this has happened before.

I know I am very late posting to this challenge. It has been a long time since I have visited SCS because there has been a lot going on. So I thought it was time to catch up on some challenges. I haven't been taking pictures as much as I did at one time but I still love doing it. With summer here I'll have more time to get out and find things to take pictures of.

These are my cloud pictures. Thanks for looking!

Michelle, those are great cloud photos and it's just awesome that you were able to catch the lightning.

Thanks! That lightning shot was just pure luck. I have been trying to catch that shot for a while. My husband normally gets on to me for going out in a thunderstorm to take pictures. But that day I went out on the front porch and started snapping shots in the direction of the lightning. I happened to capture this one. I was super excited about it.

When all the tornados came through here on April 27th I wanted to take pictures of some lightning then. There was a huge bolt that had little zig zag bolts on either side of it that I would have loved to capture. We were watching tornados from the back window and my DH wouldn't let me get my camera out that day.

Taken through the car window last night on our way home from the North, so this is a UK rainbow not an Irish one . I liked the small streak of blue sky under all the grey cloud.

As I said in the From the Book thread, I spent way too long watching the birds on the lake this morning. I'd delayed going because I was sure it was going to rain, and in fact I had to run back to the car when these clouds arrived overhead.
There was actually a small patch of blue which you can see reflected in the lake, but I couldn't get it to show in the sky, even with three different exposures.

Fabulous sunset/cloud photos. I was going to say I liked the second one best, with the bird flying across, but wow - the third one is fantastic!!

All taken on the way to work - reflections in the river, in work and just outside the perimeter walls.

Sabrina, that first one reminds me of when, eons ago, I would experiment by taking photos through textured plexiglass.
