Question Editing Video Tutorials

What's your personal recommendation for video editing software/programs?
I'm upgrading from my Flip camera to a "real" camcorder (whew~!) ... but didn't spring for a model that includes great editing software. So ... I'd love to hear about nearly free, free, or not expensive ideas, please!

Thanks!

According to my sister, the iWindows one (free to download, I think it's called Windows Movie Maker) is actually pretty good - but it doesn't recognise the file format my Canon uses, so she's my video editor for anything other than cutting and splicing.

This is the one I downloaded a demo of when she gave me a quick lesson: CyberLink PowerProducer - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com

But at the moment I don't have enough RAM to really be able to do it myself without a lot of frustration, so when the trial ran out I didn't buy it. But I didn't think it was too pricey. DH got me PSE for my birthday last year and I looked into getting the combined video editing package, but it didn't get all that great reviews.

Thanks, Sabrina.
I'm still on the search. It doesn't sound like "Santa" is interested at all in my quest ... Drats.
I've been looking at the Corel software. Some reviews are good, others aren't so good. Thus, I haven't taken the leap ... nor have I produced a video since posting my query. Thankfully this is a busy season, so I'm not completely frustrated ... but getting there.

Any suggestions, tips are appreciated, y'all!
