Our Inheritance

Imagine how puffed up with pride you'd be to find out you were the son of Caesar, and all the empire would be yours. How much more then to find out you were the child of God!

A Tribute to Our Soldiers

The colors of the American flag ripple above as the winds toss and snap it, demanding my attention. I gaze at it in awe as it waves proudly against the cobalt sky. Mesmerizing colors melt and swirl together until they are one. They quickly reform with the next breeze.

My mind journeys back in time as I watch it. Red might be the blood lost in battle so we could have our freedom. Blue could be the blue-eyed soldier standing on the battlefield ready to give his life for ours. White may be the color of angels who ultimately guide our nation’s heroes to the next and final frontier. A frontier where there are no battles.

Highways and bi-ways moan and groan under the weight of thousands of motorists as they journey home in a never ending rhythm of gleaming steel and metal. Malls full of shoppers haggling over goods and rushing to sales. The farmer plowing a field in endless rows, praying for rain. The roar of the buses and trains and planes. Tiny windows glittering amber light within the towering skyscrapers overlooking it all. Our land. Our freedom. Our country.

Home after home I passed, as I commuted to my destination. Maybe someone in that endless row lost a father or brother or son or even a daughter. A life given so I could have mine. A century of lives given so we could have futures

Thousands of soldiers who now lie forgotten in cemeteries washed away by time. Granite markers long gone, their names crumbled away by the winds and the sun and the rains. The once dotted hillside no longer carries the scars of their fight for ours. Wounds of battle long gone, only rolling fields of meadow grass dotted with the occasional wildflower, rippling in the silent winds. The same winds that whip the flag above me.

I gaze at the flag as people hustle by. They rush back and forth, reminding me of a million ants in an ant farm. One day a year set aside to remember them. One day. A day off work which has become a day for many to lie in the sun at the beach, or indulge in an enormous meal of BBQ and beers with family and friends. Laughing the day away, with nary a thought of what may well lie below their polished shoes.

Day after day they fought for us, year after year. Battle after battle was won, so we’d have a home to come home to, and food to sup. So we could have malls and trains and buses and planes. So we could indulge in the frivolities of existence

The rip of a bullet meets flesh in a far away country. A heart is broken stateside. A life forever changed. A child without a father, a father without a son.

I shed a tear to the beat of drums in the distance, as the majestic flag is lowered. It is carefully folded by two misty-eyed soldiers while dozens of watery eyes watch in hushed melancholy. They slowly march to the grieving widow, and solemnly present it to her in unison. Her dark glasses hide her misery. Another life forever changed. Another life given so we could have ours.

The sun is setting on my meager home when I return. Golden hues gently light the familiar weathered wood and sagging sills. But today, somehow, it looks different. It looks better. It is a home that the soldiers built. Maybe not by hand, but definitely by spirit. A home within a city, within a state, within a great country. A country the Eagle proudly soars over, an icon of remembrance of the sacrifices made for our land, for our homes, for our freedom, for our very existence.

I will make it a pact to remember the soldiers, and thank them for what they have given us, every day.

This story is dedicated to the soldiers, both past
and present, who have fought for our freedom.

Memorial Day 2011

Thanksgiving is a day when we pause to give thanks for the
things we have.

Memorial Day is a day when we pause to give thanks for the
people who fought for the things we have.

Memorial Day is on the last Monday in May and honors those
men and women who lost their lives serving their country.
What we celebrate as Memorial Day today began at the end of
the Civil War. Family members of the many soldiers slain in
battle would visit the grave sites of their fallen relatives
or friends and decorate the graves with flowers.

On May 5, 1868, General John Logan proclaimed this day a
holiday through his General Order No. 11. The day was
entitled Decoration Day and was first observed on May 30,
1868. The northern states celebrated this day every year,
but the southern states celebrated a day similar to this on
a different day until sometime after World War I.

In 1882, the name Decoration Day was changed to Memorial
Day, and in 1971, Memorial Day was declared a national
holiday to be held on the last Monday of May every year.
Over the years it has come to serve as a day to remember all
U.S. men and women killed or missing in action in all wars.

I am truly grateful for the freedoms which we enjoy today.
Too often, we take these gifts for granted, little realizing
the sacrifice which was involved in ensuring that these
freedoms continue to be a part of all of our lives. Be
honest, how many of us think of Memorial Day as just another
chance for a three-day weekend? A chance to go the lakes or
beaches or mountains? A trip to Disneyland or Six Flags or
some other amusement park?

If you are here in the United States, please remember to
display the flag, not just for the day but for the whole
weekend. Let's not forget the real reason for having this
holiday.

The quote below says it all. Please take the time
to read it.

"It is, in a way, an odd thing to honor those who died in
defense of our country in wars far away. The imagination
plays a trick. We see these soldiers in our mind as old and
wise. We see them as something like the Founding Fathers,
grave and gray-haired. But most of them were boys when they
died, they gave up two lives -- the one they were living and
the one they would have lived. When they died, they gave up
their chance to be husbands and fathers and grandfathers.
They gave up their chance to be revered old men. They gave
up everything for their county, for us. All we can do is
remember."
-- Ronald Wilson Reagan, Remarks at Veteran's Day
ceremony, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia,
November 11, 1985

A Tornado Only Leaves Behind Heroes

The angered super cell in the charcoal sky rolled across the plains. Deep within, wild winds whirled at unimaginable speeds. A monster on the path of unbelievable destruction, an unstoppable force of nature. A by-product of our volatile planet, it loomed in the western sky as lightening crackled and boomed in its shadow.

Shutters were drawn, mattresses pulled from beds and laid in tubs. Center rooms of uncountable homes were readied with essentials of survival. Cellars and basements were cleaned and dusted, years of broken toys and rusted mason jars quickly swept aside.

The fury within was soon unleashed across the plain. A vortex finger spun from below, reaching out to inhale whatever it might make its own. Debris swarmed around it, a million bees circling their hive. Hundred year old oaks were stripped of their bark, chairs were thrust through walls, oil rigs uprooted and tossed aside. Transformers were ripped from their poles, their sparks lit up the sky.

Tears fell and prayers were chanted. Cries rang out as the earth was stripped of its very being. The train in the sky powered overhead without mercy, without fear.

In its wake lie utmost ruin and destruction. Homes were flattened, hospitals and businesses lay in tatters. Neon signs twisted in the streets, gleaming on the wet concrete. Cars overturned on the highway, their wheels still spinning from the wild winds.

The people soon crawled from under the debris, gazing at the catastrophe. Undeterred, they rushed to aid the fallen, uncaring of their own wounds or fears. From the wreckage they pulled the trapped, digging through a minefield of tattered wood and stone with not a care. Their mission was one, searching for survivors.

One by one the wounded were pulled from the debris. One by one a hero was born as a hand was grasped and pulled from the wreckage. Sixteen year olds and sixty year olds undaunted by age, became partners in rescue. Men and women, young and old, from all walks of life lent a helping hand to their friends, neighbors, and complete strangers. A bond of courage, of strength, of purpose made its way across nature's battlefield to assist the fallen.

In the midst of the ruin, a single church stood in defiance. The roof had been ripped away, its sides stripped bare. Broken prisms of glass glittered on the rain drenched sidewalk. As the clouds gave way to the setting sun, its radiant beams fell across the tiny cathedral.

Within the walls, a cross still stood proudly, undamaged by the monster in the sky. Its shadow cast through the window, onto the ground for all to see. A symbol of hope, of sacrifice, of rebirth shone across the wreckage, undaunted by mother nature's fury.

The meadows will grow again, buildings will rise once more. The laughter of children will ring out across the grassy fields as the birds sing from above. Mankind may never be the same. But we as one will carry on, and we will rebuild. We will remember the fallen, and the heroes who saved so many.

*This story is dedicated to the victims, and to the rescuers
who saved so many, during the spring tornados.

Our Journey to God

Who knows what lies ahead on this surprising road? While it is helpful sometimes to look back, the prize lies ahead and I pray to be able to finish the race.

THE WEATHERED OLD BARN

A stranger came by the other day, with an offer that set me to thinking.
He wanted to buy the old barn that sits out by the highway. I told him,
right off, he was crazy. He was a city type, you could tell by his
clothes, his car, his hands, and the way he talked. He said he was driving
by and saw that beautiful barn sitting out in the tall grass, and wanted
to know if it was for sale. I told him he had a funny idea of beauty.

Sure, it was a handsome building, in its day. But then, there's been a lot
of winters pass with their snow and ice and howling wind. The summer suns
beat down on that old barn ‘til all the paint's gone, and the wood has
turned silver gray. Now the old building leans a good deal, looking kind
of tired. Yet, that fellow called it beautiful.

That set me to thinking. I walked out to the field and just stood there,
gazing at that old barn. The stranger said he planned to use the lumber to
line the walls of his den, in a new country home he's building down the
road. He said you couldn't get paint that beautiful. Only years of
standing in the weather, bearing the storms and scorching sun, only that
can produce beautiful barn wood.

It came to me then. We're a lot like that, you and I. Only it's on the
inside that the beauty grows with us. Sure we turn silver gray too... and
lean a bit more than we did when we were young and full of sap. But the
good Lord knows what God’s doing. And as the years pass, God is busy using
the hard wealth of our lives, the dry spells and the stormy seasons, to do
a job of beautifying our souls that nothing else can produce. And to think
how often folks holler because they want life easy!

They took the old barn down, today, and hauled it away to beautify a rich
man's house.

And I reckon, someday, you and I'll be hauled off to Heaven to take on
whatever chores the good Lord has for us on the Great Sky Ranch.

And I suspect we'll be more beautiful than for the seasons we've been
through here... and just maybe even add a bit of beauty to God's
house.

Sunday Funnies...

Misinterpreting prayers:

When my twin daughters were young, I taught them to say this prayer before going to bed. As I listened outside their door, I could hear them say,
"Give us this steak and daily bread, and forgive us our mattresses." My
husband and I always had a good laugh over this. That was over 50 years
ago, and the memory still remains in my heart.

My mother spent her early childhood saying, "Hail Mary, full of grapes."

I remember thinking this prayer was "Give us this day our jelly bread."

I recall reading something years ago about the Pledge of Allegiance. Some
child thought it began, "I led the pigeons to the flag."

When I was little, I often wondered who Richard Stands was. You know: "I
pledge allegiance to the flag ...and to the republic for Richard Stands."

When my husband was 6 years old, he thought a certain prayer was "He
suffered under a bunch of violets." The real words were "under Pontius
Pilate," but at that age, he didn't know better. To this day, we still
snicker in church whenever that prayer is read.

When I was a little girl, we sang a song in Sunday school about Noah. Part
of the chorus was "And the rains came down, and the floods came up." We
lived next door to a couple of charming little girls who always sang this
song while playing in their garden. Their words were, "And the rains came
down, and the spuds came up."

When my older brother was very young, he always walked up to the church
altar with my mother when she took communion. On one occasion, he tugged at her arm and asked, "What does the priest say when he gives you the bread?" Mom whispered something in his ear. Imagine his shock many years later when he learned that the priest doesn't say, "Be quiet until you get to your seat."

When I was younger, I believed the line was "Lead a snot into temptation."
I thought I was praying for my little sister to get into trouble!

Let The Preacher Do It

A lost man came to church one day, seeking for the Lord.
The people round about him yawned, it seems that they were bored.
They had their work, they had their play, they watched him walk away.
Though all knew what they ought to do, as one they seemed to say;
Let the preacher do it.

A poor woman with her children came, her need was very plain,
The people walked around her wide and refused to see her pain.
They were busy, they couldn't stop, there was much to do that day,
And as she left, her need unmet, as one they seemed to say;
Let the preacher do it.

"Our brother is dead." the preacher said. The people gasped aloud.
"Some help is needed," the preacher pleaded,"Someone from this crowd..."
They looked around, and then looked down. No one could get away.
So home they went, without a thought , and as one they seemed to say;
Let the preacher do it.

Who will come, we only need one, to clean the church this week?
"I can't" said one. "I won't" thought another, "That's not the job I seek."
Upset, in a huff, Don't we do enough! They grumbled on their way.
Too good to sweep, too proud to mop, as one they seemed to say;
Let the preacher do it.

Millions are dying, while others are trying their game scores to increase.
The battles' not lost, but consider the cost in souls lest you never have peace. Your best you must give, if for Christ you will live, and serve Him in every way. The job won't get done, and souls won't be won, if as one you continue to say;

Let the preacher do it.

Love it Cat. I'm listening to Casting Crowns right.
Hope all of you are enjoying the day. It's beautiful here. In fact, I'm going to walk to the bank and then enjoy the sunshine in my back yard. I few concerns have been lifted, and I'm ready to listen to my body and take a day off. I found a house. It's a two bedroom with a double attached garage. It's right across the street from (from the west) one of the city's parks and (on the north) the swimming pool. The address is 706 13th St., same city, same zip. I can walk thru th park and there's the grocery store. I should be packing, but, as I said, I'm going to listen to my body for a change.

Default THE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE!

David Wilkerson Today

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8, 2011

THE SECRETS OF THE LORD
by David Wilkerson

Matthew tells us Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables: “All these things
spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not
unto them: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept
secret from the foundation of the world” (Matthew 13:34–35).

To many Christians today, the parables sound very simple. Yet, according to
Christ, each parable holds an incredible secret. There’s a hidden, kingdom
truth in every parable Jesus told. And that truth is discovered only by those
who diligently seek for it.

Many believers skim over the parables quickly. They think they see an obvious
lesson and quickly move on. Or, they dismiss a parable’s meaning as not
applying to them

The Bible states clearly there are secrets of the Lord: “His secret is with
the righteous” (Proverbs 3:32). These secrets have been unknown from the
foundation of the world, but Matthew tells us they’re buried in Jesus’
parables. These hidden truths have power to truly set Christians free. Yet few
are willing to pay the high cost of discovering them.

Consider with me one of the Lord’s parables.

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly
pearls: who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that
he had, and bought it” (Matthew 13:45–46). Who is the merchant in this
parable? The Greek root here explains him as a traveling wholesale trader. This
merchant was also an assayer, or tester. In other words, he made his living by
evaluating costly pearls for their quality and worth.

We know that Jesus is the pearl of great price that the merchant finds. He’s
very costly, of incalculable value, because the merchant sells all his other
possessions to gain him. I believe we find the meaning of the pearl in God’s
eternal purposes. Obviously, the pearl belonged to the Father. He possessed
Christ just as any father possesses his own son. Indeed, Jesus is the
Father’s most valued and treasured possession. Only one thing would cause the
Father to give up this priceless pearl. He did it out of love.

Christ is the treasure chest in the field. And in him, I’ve found all that
I’ll ever need. No more trying to find purpose in ministry. No more looking
for fulfillment in family or friends. No more needing to build something for
God, or to be a success, or to feel useful. No more keeping up with the crowd,
or trying to prove something. No more searching for ways to please people. No
more trying to think or reason my way out of difficulties.

I’ve found what I’m looking for. My treasure, my pearl, is Christ. And all
that the Owner asks of me is, “David, I love you. Let me adopt you. I’ve
already signed the papers with my own Son’s blood. You’re now a joint heir
with him of everything I possess.”

What a bargain. I give up my filthy rags of self-reliance and good works. I lay
aside my worn-out shoes of striving. I leave behind my sleepless nights on the
streets of doubt and fear. And in return, I get adopted by a King. This is what
happens when you seek the pearl, the treasure, till you find him. Jesus offers
you everything he is. He brings you joy, peace, purpose, holiness. And he
becomes your everything—your waking, your sleeping, your morning, afternoon
and evening.

The Window Through Which We Look

A young couple moved into a new neighborhood
The next morning while they were eating breakfast,
The young woman saw her neighbor hanging the wash outside.
'That laundry is not very clean,' she said.
'She doesn't know how to wash correctly.
Perhaps she needs better laundry soap.'

Her husband looked on, but remained silent.
Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry,
The young woman would make the same comments.
About two weeks later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband:
Look, she has learned how to wash correctly.
I wonder who taught her this.'
The husband said, 'I got up early this morning and
Cleaned our windows.'
And so it is with life.
What we see when watching others
Depends on the window through which we look.

Forgive Our Trespasses

I always try to remember that for every person driving me crazy, there may be two others that I am driving crazy. Ouch!

Making The Best Of You

A middle-aged man decided to take up jogging. He found a sports shop carrying a wide variety of running shoes. While trying on a pair, he noticed a little pocket on the side of the shoe.

"What's this thing for?" he asked the sales clerk.

"Oh, that's to carry spare change so you can call a friend to come pick you up when you've jogged too far."

That would probably never be a problem for me. I know avid runners and gym enthusiasts who can't wait to get out in the morning and work up a healthy sweat before starting the day. THEY are likely to jog too far. I know others, however, who exercise with a grim determination to get through the workout because they know it's good for them, like a child forcing down the healthy breakfast cereal when all the while wishing she were eating the sugary bowl advertized on television. Whereas the first group is anxious to work out, the second group needs a good reason to push through the workout session. I find myself squarely in the second group. I cannot imagine myself jogging too far.

Of course, if I begin each morning with an exercise regimen, I feel better all day long. And I know I am healthier. But when I wake up feeling good -- no aches, no soreness, no stiff muscles - I suddenly find good reasons to skip my routine. I am too busy today; I just need some quiet time; there is something else I'd rather do. It is the aching back and stiffness in my neck that prods me to do what I ought to do anyway.

Oddly enough, my sore and aching muscles are probably good for me - they motivate me to take better care of myself. It's not about just making the best of my aches and pains -- THEY are actually making the best of me.

Abraham Lincoln knew the value that difficulties can bring to a life. One of his cabinet appointees, Edwin Stanton, frequently found flaws with the president and criticized him -- sometimes in public. But Lincoln seemed to show excessive patience with him. The president was asked why he kept such a man in a high level position.

Lincoln characteristically responded with a story. He told about a time he was visiting with an old farmer. He noticed a big horsefly biting the flank of the farmer's horse. Lincoln said he reached over to brush the fly away. As he did so, the farmer stopped him and cautioned, "Don't do that, friend. That horsefly is the only thing keeping this old horse moving."

Even life's many irritations and problems have their place. That horsefly kept the horse moving. Edwin Stanton, no Yes Man, kept the president sharper, honest and self-reflective. My sore muscles and aching back keep me exercising regularly.

Sometimes we make the best of our problems. But how wonderful it is when those problems can make the best of us.

~ Steve Goodier ~

God Bless All Our Troops

As I came out of the supermarket that sunny day, pushing my cart of groceries towards my car, I saw an old man with the hood of his car up and a lady sitting inside the car, with the door open.

The old man was looking at the engine. I put my groceries away in my car, and continued to watch the old gentleman from about twenty five feet away.

I saw a young man in his early twenties with a grocery bag in his arm walking towards the old man. The old gentleman saw him coming too, and took a few steps towards him.

I saw the old gentleman point to his open hood and say something. The young man put his grocery bag into what looked like a brand new Cadillac Escalade. He then turned back to the old man. I heard him yell at the old gentleman saying:

"You shouldn't even be allowed to drive a car at your age."
And then with a wave of his hand, he got in his car and peeled rubber out of the parking lot.

I saw the old gentleman pull out his handkerchief, and mop his brow as he went back to his car and again looked at the engine.

He then went to his wife and spoke with her; he appeared to tell her it would be okay. I had seen enough, and I approached the old man. He saw me coming and stood straight, and as I got near him I said, 'Looks like you're having a problem.'

He smiled sheepishly, and quietly nodded his head. I looked under the hood myself, and knew that whatever the problem was, it was beyond me. Looking around, I saw a gas station up the road, and I told the old man that I would be right back. I drove to the station and went I inside. I saw three attendants working on cars. I approached one of them, and related the problem the old man had with his car. I offered to pay them if they could follow me back down and help him.

The old man had pushed the heavy car under the shade of a tree and appeared to be comforting his wife. When he saw us he straightened up and thanked me for my help. As the mechanics diagnosed the problem (overheated engine), I spoke with the old gentleman.

When I shook hands with him earlier, he had noticed my Marine Corps ring and had commented about it, telling me that he had been a Marine too. I nodded and asked the usual question, 'What outfit did you serve with?'

He had mentioned that he served with the first Marine Division at Tarawa, Saipan, Iwo Jima and Guadalcanal ....

He had hit all the big ones and retired from the Corps after the war was over. As we talked we heard the car engine come on and saw the mechanics lower the hood. They came over to us as the old man reached for his wallet, but was stopped by me. I told him I would just put the bill on my AAA card.

He still reached for the wallet and handed me a card that I assumed had his name and address on it and I stuck it in my pocket. We all shook hands all around again, and I said my goodbye's to his wife.

I then told the two mechanics that I would follow them back up to the station. Once at the station, I told them that they had interrupted their own jobs to come along with me and help the old man. I said I wanted to pay for the help, but they refused to charge me

One of them pulled out a card from his pocket, looking exactly like the card the old man had given to me. Both of the men told me then that they were Marine Corps Reserves. Once again we shook hands all around and as I was leaving, one of them told me I should look at the card the old man had given to me. I said I would and drove off.

For some reason I had gone about two blocks, when I pulled over and took the card out of my pocket and looked at it for a long, long time. The name of the old gentleman was on the card in golden leaf and under his name was written: 'Congressional Medal of Honor Society.'

Church signs observed:

1. There was a church that had problems with outsiders parking in its parking lots, so they put up a sign: CHURCH CAR PARK - FOR MEMBERS ONLY Trespassers will be baptized!

3. "Free Trip to heaven. Details Inside!"

4. "Try our Sundays. They are better than Baskin Robbins."

5. "Searching for a new look? Have your faith lifted here!"

6. An ad for one Church has a picture of two hands holding stone tablets on which the Ten Commandments are inscribed and a headline that reads, "For fast, fast, fast relief, take two tablets."

7. When the restaurant next to another Church put out a big sign with red letters that said, "Open Sundays," the church reciprocated with its own message: "We are open on Sundays, too."

8. "People are like tea bags - you have to put them in hot water before you know how strong they are."

9. "Fight truth decay - study the Bible daily."

10. "How will you spend eternity - Smoking or Non - smoking?"

11. "Dusty Bibles lead to Dirty Lives"

12. "Come work for the Lord. The work is hard, the hours are long and the pay is low. But the retirement benefits are out of this world."

13. "It is unlikely there will be a reduction in the wages of sin."

14. "Do not wait for the hearse to take you to church."

15. "If you're headed in the wrong direction, God allows U-turns."

16. "If you don't like the way you were born, try being born again."

17. "Looking at the way some people live, they ought to obtain eternal fire insurance soon."

18. "This is a ch_ _ ch. What is missing?" ---------(U R)

19. "In the dark? Follow the Son."

20. "Running low on faith? Step in for a fill-up."

21. "If you can't sleep, don't count sheep. Talk to the Shepherd."

As some of you know, am a volunteer for Coles Foundation and thought to share this from a very sweet little hero's caringbridge site. For me, it puts things in perspective.

"One Of Those Lives"

By: Brad Paisley

Rush hour traffic,
Always puts me in a bad mood.
I got chewed out by the boss today,
And now I'm stuck on highway 92.

Then you call me on my cell phone,
While I'm cussin' out a Cadillac.
You say remember Tom and Jenny's little boy?
Well, the doctors say the cancer's back.

Man its been one of those days,
When I been thinking poor me.
I got no right to complain I guess,
Cause right now all I can see.

Is a little angel in a Yankees cap,
It makes me realize.
It's just been one those days for me,
But for him it's been one of those lives.

Everybody under my roof,
Is healthy- knock on wood.
Oh but I sure do sweat the small stuff,
I don't thank God as much as I should.

Tonight I'm thinking about Tommy and Jenny,
And how they spent the last four years.
All those extended stays in Memphis,
All the sleepless nights, the prayers, the tears.

It's just been one of those days,
Where I was thinking poor me.
I got no right to complain I guess,
Cause right now all I can see.

Is that family moving back to Target House,
It makes me realize.
It's just been one those days for me,
But for them its been one of those lives.

And so it's been one of those days,
I let things get to me.
I got no right to complain,
Cause when I look around I see.

Folks that are fightin' for every breath,
And it makes me realize.
It's just been one for those days for me,
But for them it's been one of those lives.

The Ancient Truth

The bible takes the guesswork out of how we can please God. The Bible expresses the ancient truth that all of life is under the authority of God's Word: family life, worship, and social institutions.

Stability in the Storms of Life

His Vessel

The ship of life is sailing.
The sea of life is broad.
Who's the builder of this vessel?
He is our Creator - God.

He launched us with His blessing,
And He will safety give,
As we sail His well-marked channels
And for His purpose live.

The sails are full and billowed;
The vessel moves with ease.
The sea appears free from danger;
There blows a gentle breeze.

But then a storm arises.
It seems to overwhelm.
As we glance up - there is Jesus.
He's standing at the helm.

The raging storm grows quiet.
Well-being now returns.
The elements, were mastered,
Jesus sleeps now in the stern.

Our ship may meet with turmoil;
It may be tempest-tossed.
But with Jesus in our vessel,
There's no way we can be lost.

One day He'll be our Pilot;
And into harbor sail,
Secured by His strong anchor,
Our mooring will not fail.

There we'll see all the vessels
Which have come here before.
They will hoist their sails in welcome.
We've arrived at heaven's shore.

Thought this was beautiful and wanted to share...

When I say that 'I am a Christian', I am not shouting that 'I am clean living. I'm whispering 'I was lost, but now I'm found and forgiven.'

When I say 'I am a Christian', I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.

When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.

When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it.

When I say 'I am a Christian', I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.

When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not holier than thou, I'm just a simple sinner who received God's good grace, somehow!

Freedom to Choose
God's love for his creation extends to you, and in freedom you can either respond favorably to this love or pursue yourself. You can do what you know is right, or you can follow your cravings into areas that you know will not please God.

If flowers grow in heaven Lord, then pick a bunch for me ▬▬▬ place them in my Dad's arms and tell him they're from me. ▬▬▬ Tell him that I love and miss him, and when he turns to smile, ( ◕‿◕。) ღ ❤ place a kiss upon his cheek and hold him for a while. xxx RIP Dad, I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU, HAPPY FATHERS DAY IN HEAVEN!

Written by a woman, who admittedly loves her man. Presented in good fun, on this Father’s Day, in the knowledge that fathers love to laugh.

What is it like to be a man?

Your last name stays put.

The garage is all yours.

Wedding plans take care of themselves.

Chocolate is just another snack.

You can be president.

Car mechanics tell you the truth.

You never have to drive to another gas station because this one's just "too icky."

Same work, more pay.

Wrinkles add character.

Wedding dress - $5000; tux rental - $100.

The occasional, well-rendered belch is practically expected.

New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle your feet.

One mood, ALL the time.

Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat.

A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase.

You can open all your own jars.

You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness.

If someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend.

Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack.

Everything on your face stays its original color.

Three pairs of shoes are more than enough.

You don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt.

You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes.

The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades.

You don't have to shave below your neck.

Your belly usually hides your big hips.

One wallet and one pair of shoes, one color, all seasons.

You can "do" your nails with a pocketknife.

You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache.

You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives, on December 24, in 45 minutes.
