How much better to get wisdom than gold,
to choose understanding rather than silver!

KRESOP2662 Wrote: Hello everyone. Recently I have found myself searching. For what, I am not even sure. The answer is still out there somewhere. What I do know is that in the midst of my searching I have found life. Life is everywhere, in everyone, and in everything. Life continues even when it ends. Life is not prejiduce, it does not judge, it just lives. No matter how tough things may be, or how much tougher they will be, or have been, right there in the middle of it all there will be life. The entire world could come to a halt and a blade of grass will still dance in the whisper of the wind. A storm may have torn right through your front door yet the sweet melody of a birds song will linger over the rubble. We have all lost, we have all taken things for granted, we have all struggled. In this we have all lived. In living we pass life on to others. One's loss is another's grace. One thing about people is that they live on in one another and provide life to one another. For this I thank you! Just living this moment and sharing these thoughts provide life. Personally, I have come to another difficult moment in life. I have lived many and will continue to live many if that is what God has in mind. No matter how hard times get I know that someone else is suffering more than I. Life still endures. On the most horrible of days is when I remember to take a moment to say thank you or listen to a friend in need. Those are the days I notice the comfort found in a stranger's eyes or hear the kind thoughts of a neighbor. It is when a child's playful voice echos through the park and a reflection gives me strength. In these moments a miracle takes place, life. Even though I do not have all the answers I know where they will be sought out, and found... throughout life. I pray for all those who have lived this message and also thank those of you who have found it. It may not make a whole lot of sense, but that's just it. Life doesn't always make sense. In the end I believe that somehow everything is connected and somehow does make sense. It just takes a little bit of life for it all to come together...

Hello Kresop! So glad you stopped to share your heart with us. Hope you'll continue to post often.

I thought I'd look in the Bible to see what God says on the subject of seeking. I found this wonderful passage in the Old Testament:

Jeremiah 29:11-13

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart."

In my search I also found these verses concerning the definition of life. These passages from the New Testament refer to Jesus.

John 1:4

"In Him was life, and the life was the light of men."

John 5:24 & 26

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life . . . For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself "

John 11:25-26

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

Hope these will be of some help.

Rita

God doesn't give you the people you want, He gives you the people you NEED.

How would you feel if you had no fear?
Feel like that.

How would you behave toward other people if you realized their powerlessness to hurt you?
Behave like that.

How would you react to so-called misfortune if you saw its inability to bother you?
React like that.

How would you think toward yourself if you knew you were really all right?
Think like that.

GOD LOVES EVERY BIT OF YOU

Love the lyrics to this song by Jeremy Camp.

I try to hold on to this world with everything I have
But I feel the weight of what it brings, and the hurt that tries to grab
The many trials that seem to never end, His word declares this truth
That we will enter in this rest with wonders a new
But I hold on to this hope and the promise that He brings
That there will be a place with no more suffering

Chorus
There will be a day with no more tears, no more pain, and no more fears
There will be a day when the burdens of this place, will be no more, we’ll see Jesus face to face
But until that day, we’ll hold on to you always

I know the journey seems so long
You feel you’re walking on your own
But there has never been a step
Where you’ve walked out all alone

Chorus
There will be a day with no more tears, no more pain, and no more fears
There will be a day when the burdens of this place, will be no more, we’ll see Jesus face to face
But until that day, we’ll hold on to you always

Troubled soul don’t lose your heart
Cause joy and peace he brings
And the beauty that’s in store
Outweighs the hurt of life’s sting

I cant wait until that day where the very one I’ve lived for always will wipe away the sorrow that I’ve faced
To touch the scars that rescued me from a life
of shame and misery this is why this is why I sing

Hi ladies sorry I have not been on, I have been in hospital since Thursday evening, once again after feeling that I was getting better I developed Nuetropenic Sepsis, I still have it but they decided to let me come home....so hopefully I will stay infection free, so I am restricted to the house I will read back over the posts when I have more energy.

Father

I am seeking:
I am hesitant and uncertain,
But will you, O God,
Watch over each step of mine
And guide me.

This is an actual letter that a son sent wrote to his mother. It surely brought tears to her eyes and filled her heart with love.

Cheese Toast
=============

Dear Momma,

I had to fix my dinner tonight since Stephanie is still
recovering from Pneumonia.

I heated up some vegetable soup and was preparing to make some
cheese toast with it.

It had been a very long time since I had eaten any cheese
toast. As I was putting the butter on the bread and applying
the cheese, I thought about all of the mornings that you fixed
this for us before going to school. I remembered the cheese
toast, the oatmeal with raisins, the buttered toast with
syrup, the shredded wheat with bananas, and the heated orange
juice.

It wasn't until I had to go through the trouble of preheating
the oven, getting out the bread, butter and cheese, aluminum
foil, and fixing everything that I stopped and realized the
daily effort you spent fixing our food.

I thought back to all of those mornings and the love that went
into everything. We ate very simple; but as I thought about all
of the cornbread and syrup, beans and rice and stir-fried
vegetables, I realized that everything you cooked I thoroughly
enjoyed. We still eat a lot of bread now because Momma fixed us
all sorts of bread, and we enjoyed it.

I remembered eating these items every morning, but I couldn't
remember saying "thank you." Even if it took me 35
years and a sick wife to realize the labor of love that you
gave six sons every day, I want to say thank you now.

I can never remember a time when I needed to talk and you
weren't there. I can't remember needing a mother and you
weren't there. I can't remember needing prayer and you
weren't there. I can't remember needing a friend and you
weren't there. I can't remember needing a supporter and
you weren't there.

We all get busy with the issues and responsibilities of life,
but we should never get too busy to stop, take time out and say
thank you.

You are and have always been a remarkable mother. Even now just
to hear your voice holler in the audience as we speak, I say
thank you for your support and encouragement. We are who we are
because of whose we are and from whom we came. This includes
God, you and daddy. I will never forget that.

Even though this is not Mother's Day, Christmas or your
birthday, I wanted to take the time out at midnight before I
went to bed to write this because you mean that much to me and,
you are somebody special.

Out of all of the women I've met in my life, no matter how
beautiful or powerful, I've never looked at another and said I
wish that was my mother. I have always truly looked at myself
as having the best mother in the whole world.

I just started writing this really to say thank you for the
cheese toast, but the rest just came out as I wiped the tears
from my eyes.

I love you Mother and think the world of you. I did the best I
could to find the closest I could to you for a wife because I
saw what the pinnacle of being a mother and wife was.

Good night,
Love,
James

Oh I would certainly be in tears if that letter ever came from one of my children. It was beautiful and is'nt it true that all to often we take for granted those people closest to us.

Put it in a place
Where it is easy to see
This cryptic admonishment T.T.T.
So whenever depressingly
low you climb,
It’s well to remember
THINGS TAKE TIME.

We shall do much in the years to come,
but what have we done today?
We shall give our gold in a princely sum,
but what did we give today?
We shall lift the heart and dry the tear,
We shall plant a hope in the place of fear,
We shall speak the words of love and cheer
but what did we speak today?

We shall be so kind in the afterwhile,
but what have we been today?
We shall bring each lonely life a smile,
but what have we brought today?
We shall give to truth a grander birth,
And to steadfast faith a deeper worth,
We shall feed the hungering souls of earth,
but whom have we fed today?

We shall reap such joys in the by and by,
but what have we sown today?
We shall build us mansions in the sky,
but what have we built today?
'Tis sweet in idle dreams to bask,
but here and now do we do our task?
Yes, this is the thing our souls must ask,
"What have we done today?"

Caterina your verse is so true,

My Induction at the radiotherapy dept went well, so I have now been tattoed ready for Monday morning, so I looking forward to starting the last leg of my treatment. I can now see the end of what has been a long journey

Every chapter of life’s journey
Plays its own important part,
And by trusting in God’s wisdom,
Hope stays strong within the heart.
There’s a purpose in His planning,
Guiding us within his way,
And our faith, will surely lead us
To the promise of each day..

Anne ... So glad that things went well today ... how long will your next series of treatments go?

Do you write the poems you share with us? They are so inspiring.

When I was first diagnosed I made myself a hope book. I went through all the different books I have and took all the little prayers, quotes, verses from hymns and bible passagess that made me feel good and put them into one book along with images of different morehead angels. So anytime I felt down I picked up my hope book and read through it to remind myself I was not alone.

I love little quotes etc, they can be so uplifting

It means so much to me to know that I am in your prayers and thoughts, it helps to know you are not alone

Anne ... what wisdom to prepare that Hope Book for yourself when you knew you were facing some mountains! Not only are they giving you strength and comfort but when you share them with us, we are blessed, too!

You will be in my prayers each weekday over the next 5 weeks. If your treatments are to be given at the same time each weekday, I would try to be in prayer for you at that time. Do you know the time difference between your home and the east coast of the U.S.?

Rita I go at 10.50am each day, all my appointments are at the same time. I am 5 hours ahead of you, so I think it would be to much to ask you to get up at 5.50am I am just grateful for you prayer no matter what time of day

Anne ... sometimes I am awake or even up at that time. This morning, for instance, I was out of bed before 6 a.m. LOL! I'll just make it a point to pray daily for you, even if it's not during your actual treatment time. I just know that during my times of discomfort or distress it's always such a comfort when people remember me in prayer.

SCARS OF LIFE

Some years ago, on a hot summer day in South Florida, a little boy decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house.

In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went.

He flew into the water, not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the shore.

His father, working in the yard, saw the two as they got closer and closer together.

In utter fear, he ran toward the water, yelling to his son as loudly as he could.

Hearing his voice, the little boy became alarmed
and made a U-turn to swim to his father.

It was too late.

Just as he reached his father, the alligator reached him.

From the dock, the father grabbed his little boy by the arms
just as the alligator snatched his legs...

That began an incredible tug-of-war between the two.
The alligator was much stronger than the father,
but the father was much too passionate to let go.

A farmer happened to drive by, heard his screams,
raced from his truck, took aim and shot the alligator.

Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy survived.

His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal.

And, on his arms, were deep scratches where his father's fingernails dug into his flesh in his effort to hang on to the son he loved.

The newspaper reporter who interviewed the boy after the trauma,
asked if he would show him his scars.

The boy lifted his pant legs. And then, with obvious pride, he said to the reporter, 'But look at my arms. I have great scars on my arms, too.

I have them because my Dad wouldn't let go.'

You and I can identify with that little boy.

We have scars, too.

No, not from an alligator, but the scars of a painful past.
Some of those scars are unsightly and have caused us deep regret.
But, some wounds, my friend, are because God has refused to let go.

In the midst of your struggle, He's been there holding on to you...

The Scripture teaches that God loves you.

You are a child of God.

He wants to protect you and provide for you in every way.
But sometimes we foolishly wade into dangerous situations,
not knowing what lies ahead.

The swimming hole of life
is filled with peril -
and we forget
that the enemy is waiting
to attack.

That's when the tug-of-war begins - and if you have
the scars of His love
on your arms,
be very, very grateful..
He did not and will not ever let you go.

AS WE TRAVEL THROUGH TIME WE MEASURE IT, BUT DO NOT REMEMBER IT'S AMOUNT. INSTEAD WE RECALL A MOMENT IN TIME; A TIME SPENT LAUGHING WITH A FRIEND, THE TIME THE CAR BROKE DOWN, A TIME WHEN A KIND THOUGHT OR WORD HELPED TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE DAY, THE TIME A TREE WAS PLANTED IN THE BACK YARD... SO WHY DO WE MEASURE TIME? WHY DEFINE OUR TIME SPENT IN THIS LIFE IN SECONDS, MINUTES, HOURS, DAYS, MONTHS, OR YEARS. I CAN NOT REMEMBER WHAT I WAS DOING 21 DAYS, 5 HOURS, 7 MINUTES, AND 10 SECONDS AGO NOR CAN I TELL YOU WHAT I WILL BE DONING IN 21 DAYS, 5 HOURS, 7 MINUTES, AND 10 SECONDS FROM NOW. INSTEAD DEFINE TIME IN MOMENTS. WHAT YOU ARE DOING AT THIS MOMENT WILL TAKE YOU TO THE NEXT. ONE MOMENT YOU MAY BE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND THE NEXT STOPPING TO HELP A STANGER THROWN FROM THEIR CAR. ONE MOMENT MAY BRING SADNESS OR GRIEF, BUT THE NEXT MAY BRING HAPPINESS. ONE MOMENT YOU MAY BE AT THE SIDE OF A LOVED ONE, AND THE NEXT YOU MAY BE MILES APART. DEFINE YOUR TIME IN MOMENTS. REFER TO THE HOURGLASS ONLY AS A GUIDE. IN DOING SO YOU WILL HAVE LIVED EVERY MOMENT.

STAMPING SERVENT WROTE;

Rita

We'll See
Author Unknown

Once upon a time, there was a farmer in the central region of China. He didn't have a lot of money and, instead of a tractor, he used an old horse to plow his field.

One afternoon, while working in the field, the horse dropped dead. Everyone in the village said, "Oh, what a horrible thing to happen." The farmer said simply, "We'll see." He was so at peace and so calm, that everyone in the village got together and, admiring his attitude, gave him a new horse as a gift.

Everyone's reaction now was, "What a lucky man." And the farmer said, "We'll see."

A couple days later, the new horse jumped a fence and ran away. Everyone in the village shook their heads and said, "What a poor fellow!"

The farmer smiled and said, "We'll see."

Eventually, the horse found his way home, and everyone again said, "What a fortunate man."

The farmer said, "We'll see."

Later in the year, the farmer's young boy went out riding on the horse and fell and broke his leg. Everyone in the village said, "What a shame for the poor boy."

The farmer said, "We'll see."

Two days later, the army came into the village to draft new recruits. When they saw that the farmer's son had a broken leg, they decided not to recruit him.

Everyone said, "What a fortunate young man."

The farmer smiled again - and said "We'll see."

Moral of the story: There's no use in overreacting to the events and circumstances of our everyday lives. Many times what looks like a setback, may actually be a gift in disguise. And when our hearts are in the right place, all events and circumstances are gifts that we can learn valuable lessons from.

As Fra Giovanni once said:

"Everything we call a trial, a sorrow, or a duty, believe me... the gift is there and the wonder of an overshadowing presence."

Caterina- love we'll see. That is a saying my DH always says. Actually it drives me crazy. The story gives me a new perspective on what he means.

Sorry I have not been around, just chilling trying to get some strength back, love the verses Caterina and Kresop, I will certainly try to be more patient and enjoy the moment

Remember....live every day to the fullest.. Each minute is a blessing from God. And never forget....the people who make a difference in our lives are not the ones with the most Credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care for us.

If you see someone without a smile today give them one of yours! Live simply. Love seriously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God

Anne- I love your devotionals. They are always uplifting. You are an incredible woman. My user name was given to me as a teenager by a mean boy. He told me that I had nothing to smile about. I just kept smiling.

Lord, Help Me to be Coffee

You will never look at a cup of coffee the same way again........

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how
things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to
make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and
struggling. It seemed as though just as one problem was solved, a new
one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water
and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to a boil.

In the first, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and
in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and
boil, without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners.

She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl.

She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl.

Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me what you see."

"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.

Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She
did, and noted that they were soft.

The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After
pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg.

Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee.

The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma.

The daughter then asked, "What does it mean, mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same
adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently.

The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting.

However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and
became weak.

The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its
liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its
inside became hardened.

The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the
boiling water, they had changed the water.

Which are you?" she asked her daughter.

"When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a
carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?"

Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with

pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?
Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the
heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a
financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and
stiff?
Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough
with a stiff spirit and a hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot
water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water
gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor If you are like the
bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the
situation around you.

When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you
elevate yourself to another level?

How do you handle adversity?

Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. The
brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't
go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and
heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was
smiling Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling
and everyone around you is crying.

It's easier to build a child than to repair an adult...
