O, Please Help Me, Lord

O, Please help me, Lord
To seek out what is true;
To walk the straight and narrow path
That leads me straight to You.

I often take a detour
Down some winding, dusty road
Where trouble seems to find me,
Thereby adding to my load.

Along the path I tremble
And cry out to You in fear.
Instantly You rescue me
And dry up every tear.

I am forever grateful
That You don't turn me away.
I vow that I will follow You
Until my dying day.

And even as I say it,
A knock upon my door
Beckons sweet temptation
And my greediness for more.

I can only fight it
With the faith I've found in You.
Your strength is ever with me
And Your word is always true.

And so, I'll keep on walking
Through the sunshine and the rain,
Trusting that Your sweet love
Will lead me home again.

I dont have any of these pages, I looked at Colefoundation, so sad to read of all these children going through such a terrible illness, once again it reminds me how fortunate I am, that I was diagnosed and treated swiftly...I will add the families of these children to my prayers

Thank you so very much Anne to think of these sweet little heroes. May the Lord truly bless you.

Can You Hear Me

Across the meadows tall with grass,
That bends and bows with ease.
Limbs of elm and hickory,
On my way I rustle through these.

Along the flatlands and painted deserts,
Hear me call to thee.
I touch your face and call your name,
I ask "Can you hear me"?

Through the rush of waterfalls,
Over rocks I merrily flow.
Racing toward the endless sea,
One thing sure I know.

Above the sounds of raging river,
Hear my call to thee.
In your mind so filled with thoughts,
"Can you now hear me"?

Along the shore I walk with you,
You seem so hard to reach.
You stop to listen to the ocean roar,
From a shell along the beach.

I still call out in vain at times,
I wonder if you still care.
Just listen to this quiet voice,
Who only wants to share.

Alone at last on a windswept peak,
Your mind is clear at last.
Softly now I call to you,
Like something from your past.

You've been so busy doing things,
At work, at play and things.
No wonder my voice was seldom heard,
But now at last it rings.

A smile I see across your lips,
Now a wrinkle upon your brow.
Calm at last is in your thoughts,
"Can you hear me now"?

Hello Anne!

I'm so glad you've stopped by. I just went to your gallery and was so VERY blessed by your talent! I left you some comments.

Your friendship card with the little mouse image was wonderful and your scrapbooking pages are inspirational and show your sweet and courageous heart. You have a wonderful talent ... that I lack .... at creating scrapbooking pages. I am currently working on my very first page for the His Holy Name challenge, HHN09, here on SCS. Are you familiar with that challenge?

I hope you will go back and read earlier posts on this thread. About a week ago, I wrote about my sister-in-law, Pat, who is also undergoing chemo. Pat really inspires me.

Anne, I would consider it a privilege to keep you in my prayers.

In friendship,

Rita R

Rita thank you so much for making me feel so welcome, I actually read your post about your sister in law when I first came across this thread, her earrings sound lovely and it is a great thing she is doing in helping other when she is ill herself hope she is coping with her chemo...I get my next round of chemo tomorrow, so hoping I am fine after it. I am very fortunate in the support I am getting from the members of my own church, it is very uplifting to know that people are taking the time to include you in their prayers and are genuinely concerned for your wellbeing. Thank you for taking the time to visit my gallery, working on scrapbooking among other things has help give me something to concentrate on. I am determined to do a grateful for page for every week of my chemo, unfortunately I am weeks behind as the chemo has made me so ill....but I am nearing the end of that road so one more thing to be grateful for

Once again thank you for your kindness

I'll Paint You A Rainbow
Grace E. Easley

I'll paint you a rainbow to hang on the wall,
to brighten your heart when the gray shadows fall.
On a canvas of joy outlasting the years,
with a soft brush of sweetness to dry all your tears.
I'll paint you a rainbow with colors of smiles
That glow with sincerity over the miles.
On a palette of words I will tenderly blend
Tones into treasures of sunlight and wind.

I'll paint you a rainbow that reaches so wide,
Your sights and your sorrows will vanish inside,
And deep in the center of each different hue,
A memory fashioned especially for you.
So lift up your eyes, for suspended above,
A rainbow designed by the Finger of Love...

Anne ... I'm praying that tomorrow's treatment will go well for you and you'll soon feel up to creating more of your grateful scrapbooking pages. I'm so glad that your family and friends are surrounding you with love and support.

Good morning ladies and welcome Anne. I will add you to my prayer list. Haven't been on as much lately so I need to catch up.
We still have so many 'bugs' being passed back and forth between my dd's family and us. I am running a fever and feel weak but must muster the strength to take Ed for another steroid injection for his Shingles. Please say a little prayer that I am able to drive the 1 1/2 miles each way safely throught city work traffic. Got to get ready, thanks for all your postings dear friends.

Mommy went to heaven, but I need her here today,
My tummy hurts and I fell down, I need her right away.

Operator can you tell me how to find her in this book?
Is heaven in the yellow part, I don't know where to look.

I think my daddy needs her too, at night I hear him cry.
I hear him call her name sometimes, but I really don't know why.

Maybe if I call her, she will hurry home to me.
Is heaven very far away, is it across the sea?

She's been gone a long, long time she needs to come home now!
I really need to reach her, but I simply don't know how.

Help me find the number please, is it listed under "Heaven"?
I can't read these big big words, I am only seven.

I'm sorry operator, I didn't mean to make you cry,
Is your tummy hurting too, or is there something in your eye?

If I call my church maybe they will know.
Mommy said when we need help, that's the place to go.

I found the number to my church tacked up on the wall.
Thank you operator, I'll give them a call.

Default God's Phone Number

Caterina ... as I read this I thought of something I heard a long time ago and never forgot:

We always have God's phone number. It's Jeremiah 33:3.

"Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."

Rita my treatment went well, unfortunately I am bothered by terrible side effects which I can feel already, they have given me injection to take tomorrow to try and ease them, so hopefully I can distract with crafting for the next few days before they get bad thank you so much for your concern

I would love to pray for you right now ....

"Dear Heavenly Father ... how grateful I am that You have introduced us to Anne. I know she is precious to You and I pray that You would deepen her understanding of how much You love her. Good morning to all.

Dust Yourself Off

When life gets tough the tough get going . . .

When your life seems overwhelming with all things going array.
And depression takes a hold by spiraling you each and every day.
If you let your life continue on its driven path you cannot survive.
Its time for you to regroup, sound praise and thank God you’re alive.

For as long as you take a breath you can fight to conquer all.
You can pick yourself up dust yourself off and begin to stand tall.
I’m not saying it’s going to be easy it takes much courage to try.
But I do promise you it will make a difference, from where you now lie.

Start with counting your blessings even if you think they’re small.
For everyday you will see more which is better than none at all.
Shift your life to others and give them your love and affection.
For you receive so much in return, you will see a beautiful reflection.

Sometimes when we help others, they see who we really are.
A person that is hurting and in pain, but one who could go far.

Hello Anne,

I received your address and will get busy creating a card to send out to you. As I work on the card, I'll be lifting you up in prayer and asking the Lord to draw very near with healing and comfort.

I'm so glad you found this thread, too!

Caterina I am Captain of our local Girls' Brigade company and your verse about the young girl trying to call her mum in heaven reminds me of a song we sing with the young girls in our company. It is: -

"Prayer is like a telephone
for us to talk to Jesus
Prayer is like a telephone
for us to talk to God.
Prayer is like a telephone
for us to talk to Jesus

so pick it up and use it everyday

you can shout out loud Jesus
or whisper low Jesus
for he'll alway here your call

repeat 1st verse"

the girls love it and it is a great way to teach them about prayer

and thank you for another beautiful verse today

Evening Prayer

Every evening
As I'm laying here in bed
This tiny little prayer
Keeps running through my head

God bless my Mom and Dad
And bless my little pup
And look out for my brother
When things aren't looking up

And God, there's one more thing
I wish that you could do
Hope you don't mind me asking
But please bless my computer too?

Now I know that's not normal
To bless a mother board
But just listen a second
While I explain to you 'My Lord'

You see, that little metal box
Holds more to me than odds & ends
Inside those small compartments
Rest a hundred of my 'BEST FRIENDS'

Some it's true I've never seen
And most I've never met
We've never exchanged hugs
Or shared a meal as yet....

I know for sure they like me
By the kindness that they give
And this little scrap of metal
Is how I travel to where they live

By faith is how I know them
Much the same as you
I share in what life brings them
From that our friendship grew

"PLEASE" Take an extra minute
From your duties up above
To bless this scrap of metal
That's filled with so much love!

I agree that the good that has come from computers and the internet far outweighs any bad that has come from them. Caterina ... I really loved this poem you shared.

Anne ... I just loved the Girls' Brigade song that you shared. Prayer is like a telephone for us to talk to Jesus ... how true that is! I'll bet your girls will never forget that song and it will come back to them when they especially need to talk to the Lord. There are a couple of little songs that I learned while teaching children in vacation Bible school many years ago. Those little songs are often a comfort to me. When we are in need, I suppose we are all like little children and need our Father's comfort.

Anne, how are you feeling today?

Rita

Apples the fruit of Love

A few years ago a group of salesmen went to a regional sales convention in Chicago. They had assured their wives that they would be home in plenty of time for Friday night's dinner. In their rush, with tickets and briefcases, one of these salesmen inadvertently kicked over a cart which held a display of apples. Apples flew everywhere. Without stopping or looking back, they all managed to reach the plane in time for their nearly missed boarding.

ALL BUT ONE !!!

He paused, took a deep breath, got in touch with his feelings, and experienced a twinge of compassion for the girl whose apple cart had been overturned. He told his buddies to go on without him, waved good-bye, told one of them to call his wife when they arrived at their home destination and explain his taking a later flight. Then he returned to the terminal where the apples were all over the terminal floor.

He was glad he did.

The 16-year-old girl was totally blind! She was softly crying, tears running down her cheeks in frustration, and at the same time helplessly groping for her spilled produce as the crowd swirled about her, no one stopping and no one caring for her plight.

The salesman knelt on the floor with her, gathered up the apples, put them back on the table and helped organize her display. As he did this, he noticed that many of them had become battered and bruised; these he set aside in another basket.

When he had finished, he pulled out his wallet and said to the girl, 'Here, please take this $40 for the damage we did. Are you okay?' She nodded through her tears. He continued on with, 'I hope we didn't spoil your day too badly.'

As the salesman started to walk away, the bewildered blind girl called out to him,

'Mister....' He paused and turned to look back into those blind eyes.

She continued,

'Are you Jesus?'

He stopped in mid-stride, and he wondered. Then slowly he made his way to catch the later flight with that question burning and bouncing about in his mind:

'Are you Jesus?'

Do people mistake you for Jesus? That's our destiny, is it not?
To be so much like Jesus that people cannot tell the difference as we live and interact with a world that is blind to His love, life and grace.

If we claim to know Him, we should live, walk and act as He would. Knowing Him is more than simply quoting Scripture and going to church. It's actually living the Word as life unfolds day to day.

You are the apple of His eye even though we, too, have been bruised by a fall.

Good morning dear friends. Sorry I haven't been keeping up with this thread, but please know that I am thinking about each of you and keeping you in prayer.
We are having Verizon FIOS installed on Monday so I have been going through my email files and deleting or sending impt. ones to my yahoo acct. so that none are lost. To those of you who have my comcast addy., Verizon is supposed to notify all on my address book. Just in case that doesn't happen, I'll let you know my new address. Hopefully, it will be the same except Verizon in place of Comcast.

Have a lovely and peaceful weekend. Caterina, your card came yesterday and we both thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and love.
Big hugs!

Smile TIME FOR A LITTLE GRANDPARENT HUMOR

Grandparent Surprises

Being a Grandparent . . .

1. She was in the bathroom, putting on her makeup, under the watchful eyes of her young granddaughter, as she'd done many times before. After she applied her lipstick and started to leave, the little one said, 'But Gramma, you forgot to kiss the toilet paper good-bye!' I will probably never put lipstick on again without thinking about kissing the toilet paper good-bye...

2. My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy Birthday. He asked me how old I was, and I told him, '62.' He was quiet for a moment, and then he asked, 'Did you start at 1?'

3. After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin. Finally, she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings. As she left the room, she heard the three-year-old say with a trembling voice, 'Who was THAT?'

4. A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood was like: 'We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods.' The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this all in. At last she said, 'I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner!'

5. My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, 'Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?' I mentally polished my halo and I said, 'No, how are we alike?'' You're both old,' he replied.

6. A little girl was diligently pounding away on her grandfather's word processor. She told him she was writing a story. 'What's it about?' he asked. 'I don't know,' she replied. 'I can't read.

7. I didn't know if my granddaughter had learned her colors yet, so I decided to test her. I would point out something and ask what color it was. She would tell me and was always correct. It was fun for me, so I continued. At last she headed for the door, saying, 'Grandma, I think you should try to figure out some of these yourself!'

8. When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied, 'I'm not sure.' 'Look in your underwear, Grandpa,' he advised. 'Mine says I'm four to six.'

9. When my grandson Billy and I entered our vacation cabin, we kept the lights off until we were inside to keep from attracting pesky insects. Still, a few fireflies followed us in. Noticing them before I did, Billy whispered, 'It's no use Grandpa. Now the mosquitoes are coming after us with flashlights.'

Barb ... I hope that all of you in your family are feeling better after having a virus making its rounds from one to the other.

Anne, I'm sorry you aren't feeling well, but will be looking forward to hearing from you again when you feel better. I mailed you a cheery card today ... hope it will reach you before too long.

Praying that you'll be feeling much better soon.
