Hello friends! We had a wonderful weekend away even though it was bitterly cold and windy! We just ended up taking a few drives around the area, discovered a used bookstore (that was FUN) and rented a movie. We also had two wonderful dinners out and took some time to read. It was nice being away doing what we wanted, when we wanted without having to worry about anything or anyone else. We are going to try and do this more often.
Sounds like you had a great time, Joanne.
Thanks for the chuckle, Cat.
Had a blissfully quiet night at work. It's going to be a crazy day tomorrow. Our annual Valentine's Day Pie Social is in the afternoon. I get to sit and watch those ladies set up the room in the morning. I wonder how many arguments there will be just arranging the tables. It gets entertaining. I need to take a Tupperware container to work so I can haul some pie home. There's always way too many yummy ones to choose from.
We have snow, finally. Of course it would snow today just because we have our pie social. At least it's not freezing cold. Well, technically, it is below freezing at 29°. It is supposed to be warmer this afternoon and might stop snowing. It is so nice to see white instead of brown; that was getting a bit depressing.
It's cold and sunny here. The streets are clear so I'm enjoying looking at the snowy lawns. The snow we had this year is just a drop in the bucket compared to last year. This strange winter makes me wonder what spring and summer are going to be like.

I so agree with you!

Thank you to all the men and women who have so bravely defended my country!!
I got some very sad news when I got to work this afternoon. Our part timer who works only on Saturdays was notified early this morning that 2 of her sons were in a bad accident. One of them died and the other is in critical condition. Katherine is our high school's librarian. All the information she gave my boss was that they were in an accident. We do know they were involved with a dog sled race so we don't know if it was a sledding accident or a car accident. I'm not even sure of their ages, but I believe they are both in their early 20's. They are 2 of 9 children in the family. It is so sad. My heart is breaking for them. They need tons of prayers right now.

Oh how terribly tragic and extremely sad. Cannot imagine what the family must be going through. May the Lord abundantly shower down His loving caring comfort and peace as only He can. So so so sorry.
I just got more info on the boys. It was a car accident and happened around 2 am yesterday. The one who died was 28 years old and the other one is 24. Bridger, 28, was driving and was wearing his seat belt, but the truck was a older so shoulder straps weren't used then. He was partially ejected from the truck. Lincoln was airlifted to the hospital but only sustained minor injuries and has been released. That is a relief. It's hard enough losing one child without having to worry about another one fighting for his life. This is every parent's nightmare no matter what age your children are.

Wow, praying for peace and healing that only God can give!
Joan, I found that border bunch at Michael's today. I had a 50% coupon, too. I didn't think I'd find it. They even had Cuttlebug folders at half price. Not bad for not planning on buying anything.
debbie- So happy that you found it! Better yet, you got it with a coupon.
Ladies- Dh and I are off to my sister's home up north. She lives along the Canadian border. I am excited for the peace and quiet. She doesn't always have internet access so if you don' t hear from me until Monday you'll know why! Have a good weekend. Thinking of you and praying for you all!

Oh not feeling well, I have had this "thing" for about a week and today driving down the highway doing 50 MPH and had to throw up snap that wasn't fun glad I had a bag!!! By the Grace of God I got that symptom because I drove home called out sick (my boss probably won't like but told the truth) and then 30 minutes later realized it's a migraine I have not had anything cause the vomit part in years!!!! Grateful to God that it happened that way I got home safely and then the rest came.
Debbie - what a horrible tragedy for that family. I will keep them all in prayer. Our news has been filled with a bus accident in NJ that happened yesterday. One of triplets was killed and the surviving two are still in the hospital. One in an induced coma, the other in stable condition. Another little boy is still in critical condition. All these children are only 11 years old. So sad.
Joan - I hope that you have an awesome visit with your sister. You deserve this!
Michelle - I've been getting a lot of headaches that I think are migraines. They last awhile and I am sensitive to sound especially. I don't get nauseous though. I'm not certain they are migraines, but I think that is what they are. They often last three days. UGH.
Joanne, normally the 3 day is a migraine. . . I have had them all or most of my life - it would have been bad if I arrived at work I wouldn't have been able to get home and I have the pain meds at home and today didn't have any in purse. Stress and allergies and a host of other things can bring them on. Praying you feel better soon!
DH's birthday is today and my mom is covering me she is picking up a cake and bringing a lasanga that a close friend brought to her - God is so good! and so is my mom! But just glad that it will happen DD is at school and I am so tired hopefully will nap soon!

Take care of yourself. I am so very happy that after menopause most of my migraines are gone.
And yes, God is good. Happy Birthday to your DH.

That is so sad. I hope the others pull through. Will pray for them and their families.
The CO monitor kept going off at my sister's home. We opened all the windows. The place was full of smoke. The wood burner was smoking. DH and my sister tried to fix it to no avail. So we came home early. Right now she only goes up on the weekends. Her dh is in Florida for a few months. Once he comes back they will call a professional. Now I have a bad cough.
DH is still off work. The poison oak is not clearing up. He is on 2 meds. He can't take nay more time off or it will be without pay.

Joan, so so so sorry about your trip and now having a bad cough. Sorry, too, DH is still not doing well with the poison oak. Are they sure that it is poison oak?
Thanks Caterina- DH has been to the doc twice. He gets poison oak, ivy, sumac very easily. About 20 yrs ago, it was so bad that his whole arms and legs were weeping and 3-4 times there size. And he missed 3 weeks of work!

We are excited knowing that Aaron and his family will be arriving here shortly to stay for a few days. Aaron has a speaking engagement in Hanover, PA with the Exchange Club on Tuesday to talk about childhood cancer and COLES Foundation. It will be so good to see the entire family, especially their three little girls.
Hoping their 40 ft motor home will go into our driveway without any difficulty.
Joan - I'm sorry you had to shorten the trip. That's a shame. I hope your DH starts healing very quickly, too. That must be just awful.
Caterina - Enjoy the time with Aaron and his family. It is just a shame you had to meet in such a sad way.
How is everyone else doing? We had to get a new computer this weekend. Our other one just wouldn't scan and eventually kept shutting down. Thankfully, Bill had extra money in his paycheck this month (for travel expenses from last month). I love my IT guy! I don't know what I'd do without him.
Joan, I'm so sorry your weekend wasn't any fun at all.
When I got up this morning, it was snowing and a dreary sky. Snow didn't last and the sky is trying to clear. It snowed just enough to make my yard muddy. The dogs need baths.
I am so happy, I have had 2 really good mental days and am just thrilled with that!! I have started my days with prayer and giving thanks and praise music all the way to work and I just feel good. Even with everything going on!!
So I wanted to stop by and share some "happy" and let you all know how wonderful you all are and how cool you are!!
So DD turns 15 on the 28th - and we couldn't afford Florida this year (normally we are there for her Bday) and was wondering can anyone think of something fun to do with her and maybe a friend or something?? For 13, did the standard Outback meal and a movie with her and friend. I would like to do something to surprise her - any thoughts?
