Hi Ladies,

Wow it's been quiet - I hope that means everyone is having a great week. The weather here today is GORGEOUS!!! It is sunny and 75 degrees.

So my neighbor just got a new puppy named "Bella" and she is beautiful she will grow to be about 100 lbs. when big but it was so sweet to just hold her in my arms she just collapsed when I picked her up and she snuggled in!! Nothing like new creatures fur babies or people babies. Ahhhh, I think I will have to get the timing right and go outside when she goes outside tonight!!

I hope everyone is having a good day!!

Hugs,
Michele

It's gloomy and rainy here today. And windy. Good day to stay home and curl up with a book or just spend the day stamping. Unfortunately, I'm working a split shift today. I worked 10-2 and have to go back ane work 5-9. I'm getting a few more extra hours the rest of the week, too.

Hope you all have a great week.

Thanks, Sue.

Glad to see you're still with us Christina.

It's been raining off and on for most of the day, but it almost 60į right now. The rain didn't keep the kiddos coming for story time this morning. It was standing room only in the meeting room. They sure kept me hopping with all the books they brought back and the books they checked out. Love it when I can keep busy but not overwhelmed.

Have to get ready for my exercise class.

Hi ladies - sorry I've been MIA. Sue and Deb - that you so much for the birthday cards. And thank you all for the wishes here. It was a rather quiet day, but that was fine with me!!! Yesterday (Tuesday) was Marie's 20th birthday. THAT made me feel especially old!

Yesterday was HOT and HUMID, today, rainy and cold. It would be so nice to have a happy medium!!!

Did read through all the posts - rejoicing with those sharing good news and praying for those who need them. You are all great ladies who deserve the best.

Joanne, my birthdays don't bother me, but my kids' birthdays do. Especially now that they are in their 30's.

Had a nice strength workout at class tonight. I really like the instructor. She's younger than my kids but she doesn't make me do more than I can..... but she makes me try. I cannot do situps without cheating so i just do crunches and tryo to go as far as i can. I did 25 pushups before my wrists started to give out. I haven't done that many in ages unless I was doing wall pushups, which are so much easier to do. I'm actually looking foward to the next class on Monday. When I got home, we had supper then I took Lexi for a 30-min. walk. I think I'm done for the night. Time to hit the shower.

Good night, friends.

The sun came out this afternoon. I like the cooler weather. Heading over to take care of DGD. I am tired but I will be good once I get there and see that smiling face.

It's been a bit dreary, but the temps did reach 70 with a slight breeze. I do believe spring is here, finally.

Well so thankful it's Friday. I am going to try to attempt to really clean out the bedroom tonight and have DD do hers too!! Then I can work on getting some shelves for her room and paint them fun colors and maybe get her a picture or something for her wall. She wants more color in her room, I am thinking of how to add maybe color to just the bottom portion of the walls and make a lighter something for maybe 3 feet or so. The child wants to paint one wall NEON PINK!!!!!! Uggghhhh yuck! So trying to figure and dream up compromises. lol - Hence buying wood shelves and painting those funky! It's a gorgeous day here today, I so need a day off! I feel like no time to myself lately. But looking forward to the weekend and maybe get some creative juices flowing.

I hope everyone is having a great day!

I'm happy it's Friday, too. I forgot what it's like to work 5 days in one week. I got so spoiled with my 3-day weekends. I need to be creative tonight or tomorrow morning. It's my sister's and BIL's anniversary. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. I haven't made any cards all month. I need to get a couple graduation cards done, too. Anyway, I think I only have 2 of them to do. For some reason, I don't like making graduation cards. I have no idea why.

Have a good weekend.

Hope you all had a happy Mothers day! It was a long day for me. I had a nice day with my mom until tonight. She got to drinking and then started to go off on me about things I need to work on in my life. It really was not a fun night. Very glad to be going to counseling tomorrow! I need to vent! Thanks for letting me do it here first.

Christina - I need to vent, too. Having more issues with my oldest. As Joan knows, I'm looking into counseling for at least my DH and I. We cannot keep going like this. I am now praying that she will acknowledge that she needs help and will be receptive to it. She is putting a real strain on the rest of our family.

Christina, alcoholics are hard to live with. It's frustrating because you can't do anything about it. They are the ones who have to want to change, we can't change them. I found that the abusive words are only to make them feel better about themselves. I understand what you're going through. My dh is a recovering alcoholic, my mother was one, my father-in-law, a couple uncles and one of dh's aunts were also alcoholics. DH used to be verbally abusive. I finally called out to God and told Him I couldn't deal with it anymore. I was ready to pack up the kids and leave him, but three days after calling out, dh hit his bottom and realized if he wanted to keep his family and his job, he had to quit drinking. That was 30 years ago and he's still sober.

Joanne, I'm sorry you're having trouble with your daughter. I don't know all that's going on, but I'll pray she'll get the help she needs.

Hope you all have a good week.

Debbie - my daughter has social anxiety (among other things, including depression) and your words about the alcoholic above FIT EXACTLY to our situation as well. She refuses help or treatment. It is very stressful on the rest of our family.

MICHELE - I got the RAK gift. Oh my goodness. I was not expecting something like that!!! Thank you so very much. I need to start creating and sending out cards again. I've had all I can do to keep up with birthdays. My dad's family is very large and I try to make sure I remember all their birthdays (including cousins and cousins' children, etc). I have been neglectful of my friends, though. I'll try to get better with that.

Hope everyone has a great Monday. It is a beautiful day here. I'm enjoying the sun and the spring!!!!

Joanne, one of the hardest things I had to learn was to separate myself from the problem. It didn't mean I had to stop loving these people, it just meant I had to learn that it wasn't up to me to change them. I have had to use the lessons I learned in Alanon in my day to day dealings with all people. Sometimes I don't seem to care, but I'm not going to join their pity party. I can't fix it for them, they have to do it themselves with the help of God.

It's gloomy and rainy today. It feels colder than 45į. It would be nice if it didn't get so cold at night so we can get the tomato plants planted. It still drops into the 30's at night. I have the day off so I can curl up with a book or even do some stamping. I have to get busy with my Christmas cards challenge. I'm done through the month of June, but with our big 4th of July celebration to get ready for, I'm not going to have a whole lot of time for cardmaking. And I'm trying to talk dh into a trip to see the girls, but having a little trouble in that corner. Just trying to figure out when a good time would be is pretty tricky.

The important thing to remember is to not take all the mean things to heart. You'll never get her to change. She has to want to change herself. Sometimes you have to distance yourself from the problem. Let her know you will support her when she wants to get sober but you do not need to be around her when she is drinking. Then stay away from her when she is drinking. I suggest you join an Alanon group. It helps to have others who are going through similar situations around you. A lot of communities have a group for children of alcoholics. We can only change ourselves and no one else. Do not do anything to enable her. You'd be surprised how we enable the alcoholics around us. An Alanon group can help you realize what you are doing to enable your mother so you can change that. You cannot try to please her; it will never happen.

Here is a prayer to keep close by when things feel like they're out of control. The Serenity Prayer This is the first time I have seen the second half of the serenity prayer.

I really am not sure if I would refer to her as an alcoholic. She drinks every night but doesnt get drunk every night. It does hurt my feelings when she drinks and talks that way. I dont know maybe Alanon would be good for me. I just dont know how I will do that. She would ask me where I am going and I have no one who would stand behind me in this. It is really a tough situation.

Not all alcoholics drink every day or seem to be drunk. If a person's drinking causes problems, they have a problem. It is a tough situation. You could always try searching online to see if there's something that might be able to help you. It's hard for me to help you much when I'm not there to really see you situation. It's best to let God take care of it. He will in His own time.

Joanne, you are so very welcome for the RAK gift!! I hope you enjoy it!! Counseling can help so much - I found for me and DH to go was a wonderful thing - difficult at first and then it all hits you in different pieces and it helps open you up to the things you can't change and the things you can. I would highly recommend a Christian counselor.

Christina, so sorry for what your going through - I have so many alcoholics in the family so I understand somewhat of what your going through. It's so hard I know - hoping the counselor was able to give you some help and guidance. Try to remember it's the disease talking . . . Your a good woman and always remember that!

Hugs to all,
Michele

CHRISTINE

MY DAD DRANK ALL THE TIME, EVER SINCE I CAN REMEMBER...BUT THE LAST TIME HE WAS DRUNK, WAS WHEN HE FELL AND BROKE HIS HIP...WE ALL WARNED HIM, BUT THEY ALL KNOW BETTER..ANYWAY THERE IS ALCOHOL IN THE HOUSE, BUT HE HAS NOT TOUCHED A DROP SINCE HIS ACCIDENT...AND LET ME TELL YOU, WHEN HE WAS DRYING UP IN THE HOSPITAL HE WAS UGLY....MY BROTHER NOW STAYS WITH HIM DAILY...NOT SAYING HE WILL NOT PICK UP A BOTTLE AGAIN , BUT THE DR TOLD HIM IF HE GOES BACK TO WHERE HE WAS HE WILL DIE.... JUST WANTED YOU TO KNOW THAT I DO UNDERSTAND AND TO HANG IN THERE.....

BLESSINGS ALWAYS

thanks Maddie May. That was a hard way for him to realize he needed to become sober. Maybe it will take something like that happening for my mom. I don't know. I just take it one day at a time.
