I just love this song and hymn. Thought I would post. Thinking of you ladies!

Because He Lives
(written by Bill Gaithers, Gloria Gaithers)

God sent His son, They called Him Jesus. He came to love, heal and forgive. He lived and died, to buy my pardon. An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, all fear is gone.
Because I know, I know, I know He holds the future.
And life is worth the living just because He lives.

How sweet to hold a new born baby, and feel the pride and joy he gives. But greater still is that assurance the child can face uncertain days because He lives.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, all fear is gone.
Because I know, I know, I know He hold the future.

And life is worth the living just because He lives.
And then one day, I'll cross that river. I'll fight life's final war with pain. And then as death gives way to victory. I'll see the light of glory and I'll know that He lives.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, all fear is gone.
Because I know, I know, I know He hold the future.
And life is worth the living just because He lives.

Awesome song with awesome words, thanks so much Michele. Great to read before heading to my doctor's appointment.

Urgent prayers are needed for a fellow SCSer, Laura, right now whose daughter, Sarah, has not been seen since Sunday at Target. Cannot imagine how frightening this must be for Sarah and her family. Please pray for her safety, protection and that she will be found and peace for the family.

Default Hi Everyone~

Hi-

Caterina~ Is there any info on the little girl? I am praying for her. I forgot you live in MD. Are you anywhere near Gaithersburg? That is where we always visit when we go to MD. Or perhaps you know Olney? You can let me know in a PM if you'd like.

I am trying my best to pray for everyone. But, I must tell you, I am ill, and I feel so exhausted when I wake up. I'm up 10 minutes, and I fall asleep wherever I am. I'm not drinking enough, because my throat hurts, and is so swollen, like my head...and my lungs feel like they are over working. It is probably just the flu or something, but I can't follow one thought for very long. My sight is better this afternoon...just doubled, instead of all blurred. It gives me time to fix typos. I go to 2 docs tomorrow. My Pain Management dr, who works on my back and neck and shoulder and legs, and my Regular Md, to see if she can help me feel better. I am nervous, because I don't know exactly what to tell them, because symptoms keep changing. I have an 8:30 appointment, so I need to leave at 7:40am. Then come home, then at 12:15 leave for my 2:00pm appointment. I worry because I have been ill for over a week-I've been sleeping until almost noon. I don't know how I will put things together to go, and get my blog up, and rest in between the appointments. I feel like I am breaking. I know this is a personal thing, but I don't even feel up to shaving my legs! I feel too weak.

I am so sorry if a card hasn't been sent to you yet, and it should have. I owe a couple of thank you cards, bday cards, I just found out that my nephew (bday 10/20) is a father now. He married the mom-to-be in January. Baby girl is fine. Waiting for more info. They are in TN.. I found out today, that my uncle from Gainesville...who was married to my Aunt that passed away 1 year ago on the 17th of this month...and my family found about it about 3 months ago or so...well, he just passed away from a stroke he had a couple of months ago. He passed two days after her 1 year anniversary. I have a funeral to go to Thursday. I will never be caught up. I am swamped. I feel both physically and emotionally that I am drowning. I have been going to be about 8pm each night. Cat naps all day...no wonder I'm not getting any thing done.

I care about all of you SO very much. And, I have tried to pray during my awake time...there just hasn't been enough of it for everyone every day. I am confessing this to you. I have already told the Lord. I am so sorry. I have been rotating you. I am sorry.

Joan, how are you doing sweetie? Your aunt? How is she doing? I praise the Lord that she knows Him, and can call out to Him.

I am so sorry that I have not sent out cards to everyone that I owe them to. Joan, I don't want to make cards that have germs on them and send them to you--still recovering, and your aunt. Caterina, Michele, I didn't want to send cards to either of you for the same reason. I am just swamped. OHH~ I just remembered I must get my license redone to keep it open--driving possibility! I need to do that before the weekend. I can't read the guide, because everything is all washed up when I try to read.

Dave is behind in school work today, and he has an interview at 9pm! It's a company in CA. It's just adding stress. I don't want to cough or anything. My sister's bday is Tuesday. My Dad is the 11th...this is a busy time of the year.

Oh, if anyone is wondering...my son came home safely from his weekend of turning 21 at the Casino. He called when he got there, so I wouldn't worry.
He called to tell us 'when he was winning big" He was up $300 over what he brought with him. He called when he was back on the road from Tampa...not drunk...stayed there until 2pm to drive home. Stopped drinking about 3am. Took a taxi to the hotel. And, he came home...$730 richer than when he left. He didn't want to listen very long to me talking down the bad effects of going gambling and drinking. He is a good boy, man, whatever. He is level headed. He just needs to be so careful.

So, please pray that I wake up feeling better than today. That I have time, to do my blog, and energy to type it, and the Wisdom from the True Lord, the Lord of Lords on what to write it about. Nothing seems to be getting through this tremendous headache!

I care about all of you. Thank you for listening. I am so sorry to whine, when I am aware of some of the hardships and losses some of you are facing. Caterina, will you please fill us in on the little missing girls progress, and the doctor's thoughts, if you are willing? We fly into the airport in Baltimore. We will be up most likely in Januray or February. I don't know when anything will be getting sent out from her for the next few days at least.

Remember, please!
He IS Able! Do I hear another Amen to mine?

Traci, as far as I know so far, this child may possibly be a runaway rebelling against her mother. Even so, it is still a very frightening situation - so many ugly things can happen. Cannot even begin to imagine the fear in the hearts of her family.

Gaithersburg/Olney is about 45 minutes away from us. Both Reynold and I were near there a few months ago.

My heart goes out to you feeling so sick and weak - it is so difficult to deal with that kind of stuff. Please rest, take good care of yourself and do not worry about anything, just get better.

Praying for Laura and Sara. I hope she is not a run away. That is so dangerous.
Traci- please take care of yourself. I am praying for your strength to return. I will be attending my cousin's funeral on Thursday! I haven't spoken to my aunt. She has such a hard time hearing on the phone. I am sure her son is taking care of her. If she'll let him. She is stubborn. Probably why she is 99.

Praying for all the friends.

Hi Ladies, I have been reading posts and there are so many requests and I know my God is a huge God and he will intervene on our behalf. I lift each of you ladies up to him this evening. I pray for his intervention and his wisdom and his healing and his touch on all of our lives. I pray each of you feel how close he is and has time to just sit and be quiet and listen for God to speak to you. I know quiet can be hard to find! But take the time it is so important.

I got a phone call from the bank tonight and was told after the letter I have to e-mail tomorrow my loan goes to underwriting. PRAISE GOD!!!

I am thinking about each of you and would love to know any updates on housing, the little girl, Cat and the Dr., Traci, Joan - Calianne - all of you I apologize I am not flipping back for all names. Hedgie - everyone who has posted if you have any updates I would love to hear them. I would like to pray for continued improvement in each situation.

Hugs and Love in Christ,

No additional news on Sarah after nearly four days - the family must be in such an awful state of mind. Truly asking the Lord to cover them in His peace and keep Sarah protected.

Update on Sarah, she has been found. She was noticed by someone who saw the flyer and was taken to the police station for her family to pick her up. Thank you for your prayers.

Nichole- praying for your friends mother and your work situation. It is so difficult to work when the attitude is so negative.

Smile Hi Everyone~

I thank you all for thinking and praying about me. I have an article I would like to post here...it is from Max Lucado. It is about prayer...but it is a little long. I do have permission to use his words from his pubication company...permision is for my blog. I hope it is ok to use here. I found it to be very inspiring. I am going to share the whole thing...none of my words in there...and then I am going to lay down. Is it lay or lie? someone please pm me...it has been driving me crazy for years. I know that this seems so long to read. You will be blessed, I am sure for reading thisi. If it is too small. Copy and paste it in word, and change the font. I think it was one of you who gave me that idea! Works great. I hope to be back later. Loving you all...missing you.

Jen--Did you get that important message I sent you? Please make sure your lawyer sees it.

Here it is: By Max Lucado

Pray First, Pray Most
by Max Lucado

One of our Brazilian church leaders taught me something about earnest prayer. He met Christ during a yearlong stay in a drug-rehab center. His therapy included three one-hour sessions of prayer a day. Patients weren't required to pray, but they were required to attend the prayer meeting. Dozens of recovering drug addicts spent sixty uninterrupted minutes on their knees.

I expressed amazement and confessed that my prayers were short and formal He invited (dared?) me to meet him for prayer. I did the next day. We knelt on the concrete floor of our small church auditorium and began to talk to God. Change that. I talked; he cried, wailed, begged, cajoled, and pleaded. He pounded his fists on the floor, shook a fist toward heaven, confessed, and reconfessed every sin. He recited every promise in the Bible as if God needed a reminder. He prayed like Moses.

When God determined to destroy the Israelites for their golden calf stunt, "Moses begged the Lord his God and said, 'Lord, don't let your anger destroy your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with your great power and strength. Don't let the people of Egypt say, "The Lord brought the Israelites out of Egypt for an evil purpose." . . . Remember the men who served you—Abraham, Isaac, and Israel. You promised with an oath to them'" (Ex. 32:11-13 NCV).

Moses on Mount Sinai is not calm and quiet, with folded hands and a serene expression. He's on his face one minute, in God's the next. He's on his knees, pointing his finger, lifting his hands. Shedding tears. Shredding his cloak. Wrestling like Jacob at Jabbok for the lives of his people. And God heard him! "So the Lord changed his mind and did not destroy the people as he had said he might" (v.14 NCV).

Our passionate prayers move the heart of God. "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much" (James 5:16). Prayer does not change God's nature; who he is will never be altered. Prayer does, however, impact the flow of history. God has wired his world for power, but he calls on us to flip the switch.

Most of us struggle with prayer. We forget to pray, and when we remember, we hurry through prayers with hollow words. Our minds drift; our thoughts scatter like a covey of quail. Why is this? Prayer requires minimal effort.. No location is prescribed. No particular clothing is required. No title or office is stipulated. Yet you'd think we were wrestling a greased pig.

Speaking of pigs, Satan seeks to interrupt our prayers. Our battle with prayer is not entirely our fault. The devil knows the stories; he witnessed the angel in Peter's cell and the revival in Jerusalem. He knows what happens when we pray. "Our weapons have power from God that can destroy the enemy's strong places" (2 Cor. 10:4 NCV).

Satan is not troubled when Max writes books or prepares sermons, but his knobby knees tremble when Max prays. Satan does not stutter or stumble when you walk through church doors or attend committee meetings. Demons aren't flustered when you read this book. But the walls of hell shake when one person with an honest heart and faithful confession says, "Oh, God, how great thou art."

Satan keeps you and me from prayer. He tries to position himself between us and God. But he scampers like a spooked dog when we move forward. So let's do. Let's pray, first. Traveling to help the hungry? Be sure to bathe your mission in prayer. Working to disentangle the knots of injustice? Pray. Weary with a world of racism and division? So is God. And he would love to talk to you about it.

Let's pray, most. Did God call us to preach without ceasing? Or teach without ceasing? Or have committee meetings without ceasing? Or sing without ceasing? No, but he did call us to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thess. 5:17).
Did Jesus declare: My house shall be called a house of study? Fellowship? Music? A house of exposition? A house of activities? No, but he did say, "My house will be called a house of prayer" (Mark 11:17 NIV).
No other spiritual activity is guaranteed such results. "When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action" (Matt. 18:19 MSG). He is moved by the humble, prayerful heart.

Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ.
(Colossians 4:2-3 NLT)

God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, you created all that exists, and you keep it running through your infinite wisdom and boundless power. Yet you invite me to come to you in prayer, boldly and with the expectation that you will hear me and answer me. Teach me, Lord, to take full advantage of this amazing privilege, especially in regard to reaching others with your love. Give me a heart for those who have yet to experience the fullness of your grace, and prompt me to pray for them and for their welfare, both in this world and in eternity. Lord, bring me to the front lines of this battle.. In Jesus' name I pray. amen.

He pounded his fists on the floor, shook a fist toward heaven, confessed, and reconfessed every sin. He recited every promise in the Bible as if God needed a reminder. He prayed like Moses.
Hello ladies. Just browsing around SCS this morning and stumbled across this thread.

Traci, this article moved me. Especially the above section. Oh, how often I mumble a prayer and just go about my day. Couldn't tell you how long it's been since I truly conversed with God. One of my favorite verses is Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God." But I am rarely still long enough to hear Him, or to REALLY listen to Him. Thank you so much for sharing this. I really need it to "hear" it.

Smile Hi~

Hi there, Everyone~

I thought I would check in. Praying you are all having a blessed Sabbath.
I am still ill. Just took my last antibiotic, but things are somewhat better than they were.

Thank you all for praying for me over this past week. I was really ill. I know I still am, but I am a bit better.

I want to acknowledge Michele. She wrote all of this information up for me to take care of the next 2 weeks of blog material. She knew how sick I really was, and sent it to me to set up this past week, while I was really sick. I just wasn't up to it! She wrote enough for us to have a 2 week Monday & Wednesday series on Mercy! Isn't that wonderful? I am very excited about the information she sent. And, I just wanted to publically thank her for doing that. I really appreciate it! Thank you so much, Michele.

redcolt- I am glad that the column by Max Lucado moved your heart. I hope you will find some quiet time to listen. He speaks in a whisper. It could be while you wash dishes...or it could be a certain time and space with no distractions. I used to pray in the quiet of my closet. Welcome!

I hope that you are all finding the answers to your prayer requests. I hope that the Lord is clearly showing each of you, what He would like most for you, and that He is healing each of us in whatever way we may need...physically, mentally or emotionally.

I am waiting for Dave's return. He left yesterday for a 2 day hike...14 miles, I think round trip. It is a group trip, and he loves the open air. I am so glad when he gets to go out into the woods. Last time they did this particular hike, they were very close to 2 black bears! This time he is carrying a can of bear spray. It is like mace, but for bears....it fogs their vision for a few minutes, so that you can get away. I pray that he is safe.

Have a wonderful day.

His,
Traci S.

Hi all! I have been a member of SC for ages, but have not been on to look around the website for a couple years. Just happened to go to this thread first...that's God! My life over the past 3 years has been quite a story...not the one I would have written, but I'm living it. My ex-husband left after 15 years of marriage in December 2007. I have a 15 year old daughter. My mother also lives with us and was at the time that my ex left. My mother, Mimi, is 73, active and has a great attitude and personality. OK, so I get through, no God carries me through, the divorce and all the junk that goes along with that. Then in February of this year, my father had a heart attack. He actually died on the golf course, but his buddies did CPR and brought him back. He had a triple bypass. Due to his financial situation, he was unable to go back to living in his house. He moved in with us. Dad and Mimi have been divorced for over 30 years and are now living together again under my roof! It's just a daily circus around here! Go ahead and laugh...I do...that's how I stay sane. Now, to my point...last week I broke my foot and am now in a cast from the knee to my toes for 4-6 weeks. I believe that God has a way of slowing us down when we need to. I would ask that you pray for my healing and that there be peace in our household. Lots of dynamics under our roof....a teenage girl, both my parents who were divorced over 30 years ago, me being newly divorced and back to work for the first time in 13 years and now a broken foot! I would appreciate your prayers so much. And will try to stay in touch during this "healing" time. Thank you gals!

Welcome to our new members. Please continue to post. I believe the more people to pray for our needs the better we will all be. I thank God for the friends I have made through the forums.

Hi Ladies,

First, welcome to the ladies who have recently joined the posting on this thread. It is a powerful place that is used for his Glory. He is such an awesome God! Listens to our every need and wants us to converse with him!

Traci, your very welcome for the information thank you for the kind words. Anytime I can assist you never hesitate to ask. I would do what I can.

Wow, Michelle you do have a lot going on, lifting you up this afternoon in prayer. May the God of peace, love, mercy and grace fill your home with his Spirit. I pray that he fill your heart and home and pray that you feel how close he is and know that he loves you all very much!

I know I have been attached to songs a lot lately - I do love this one by David Crowder

He is jealous for me
Love's like a hurricane, I am a tree
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy
When all of a sudden, I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory
and I realize just how beautiful You are and how great your affections are for me.
Oh, how He loves us so
Oh, how He loves us
How He loves us so.
Yeah, He loves us
Woah, how He loves us
Woah, how He loves us
Woah, how He loves.
So we are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes
If grace is an ocean we're all sinking
So heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss and my heart turns violently inside of my chest
I don't have time to maintain these regrets when I think about the way
That he loves us,
Woah, how He loves us
Woah, how He loves us
Woah, how He loves
He loves us,
Woah, how He loves us
Woah, how He loves us
Woah, how He loves

Hi Nikki~

If you want to share some of the circumstances with me, maybe my experience in the field or my courses I attend on communicating effectively will be helpful. It is up to you, Sweetie. You know, I hope, that I will do what I can to help you out.

Welcome to the prayer thread. Don't worry, you really aren't being judged for who is living under your roof. We all have differnt needs at different times. Perhaps you parents are there to help out while your foot heals. Maybe youd 15 year old needs someone who is not "Mom"'s ear for advice.
We don't necessarily know why these things happen. It could be as simple as
the fact that we don't know how to say no. It could be that the Lord has synchronized all of these things to happen right now...so that something later could come of it...it may not even include all of you. It is amazing...His Love. You could have this situation, and a month from now, someone else may read it...and see the answer to her prayers by reading your post.

Just keep on posting. Keep on praying. We will be praying.
And, please, when you pray...be sure to "Be still and know I am God." He is.
And, the Bible says that He speaks to us in a whisper. So, after you pray...just listen. Keep your mind's eye on Him...and what he says. He also talks through others...so tune up those litenting ears...as we taught in preschool...and listen for Him.

I'm glad you are here!

How is everyone? Did anyone get anything or enjoy that article by Max Lucado? I thought it was perfect for us here! Just wanted to know if you enjoyed it.

Caterina? Feeling better? I will have Dave go to the P.O. this week.

Jenguin--What's going on, Sweetie? How is everyone doing? How is the situation with the ex? Did you share that message I sent with the lawyer? Any good news? Praise Him, for every little good thing that happens.

Nikki--I am so sorry about this stress you are under. Make sure you take
care of yourself. You are doing a lot right now. I keep hearing, "##Turn your Eyes upon Jesus,##" I don't have any music on...I just keep hearing it.

Joan~ Thank you for your concern for me. I appreciate your prayers...but I am still as sick. but not contagious.

Did I tell all of you that Michele wrote my entire blog post for today, and Wednesday, and both days next week. If I can write 4 posts by then, I will have 4 posts that I can use if I can't post again. It was just about impossible for me to sit up and type last week. My vision is really scaring me.
So is this falling asleep...when I am doing something. Michele put together a great series on mercy. I learn so much from her. I hope you will check it out...oh, and the challenges...they are easy! Please tell your friends, or if you have a blog, put the badge on your blog. I really want everyone to see this series on mercy. It is wonderful. And, it is amazing!

I am so glad to be a child of the King of Kings. I am so happy to know that He has my back, and is leading me on a path for my best benefit. Maybe not the easiest...but the best. I am so amazed at the amount of love, grace and mercy that He gives to us. I am so grateful, that He unsealed my eyes, and let me see Him. Now, I don't want to take my eyes off of Him and His Word.

I am so grateful to all of you....thank you for personifying his love, grace and mercy through our friendships and sharing.

Thinking of you all - prayers for a good day today. May you know that God is with you and his word says he will never leave nor forsake us. If you want to feel him closer, take the time to sit and pray and take the time to listen for his words.

Love in Christ,

Hi Everyone!

It's been very hectic here with the end of sport season, school being in full swing.

If you could please say some mighthy prayers for us it'd be great! I should know by the end of the week if I'm staying or moving back home. And once that happens the divorce should be just about done. We're assuming he is going to file a motion to keep me in NH and then we go to court and tell them how he hasn't paid support, I have no place to go, yada, yada and then I should get the judge to let me move. There is a small chance, he'll finally cave and want us to stay badly enough but I doubt it.

I've started to collect boxes to start packing. It'll be hard work, but I can do it!

Just pray for strength during this process -whatever it may be!! And for this whole thing to be done!!!!!!!!!

Jen, you are going through a really rough time right now but just remember that the battle belongs to God. Just read today, "God will contend with those who contend with you". He is your shield, protector and you are the apple of His eye. No matter what happens just know God is right there and promises never to leave you nor forsake you ever. Cast every worry, concern or troublesome thought on Him for He cares for you!
