I just received a call from my brother. His ex wife is in a coma. The whole family has been called to the hospital. This happened very suddenly. Please pray for Mary, her children and grand children.

Joan, extremely sorry to hear this bad news. May the Lord intervene in a major way as only He can as He pours forth His loving grace and mercy.

Hi,

An update on my niece, Val, and friends, Teri and Sid. Val is now home and only needs to return to Dallas once in January and February for a cyber knife procedure. No brain surgery for two years. She can go back to school and all are so happy to be home for the Holidays! : )

Teri and Sid who were in a motorcycle accident on Thanksgiving Day are still in rehab, though both have made much progress. Sid can put weight on one foot so he can use a walker to get around the rehab. Teri, however, has more breaks in her right leg and ankles so she is still needing to use the wheel chair. They both are going to be able to go home for a couple of hours on Christmas. They have turned out to be a blessing to the nursing home that they are rehabbing in as they both are extroverted and very Spirit filled. They have been singing Christmas Carols with the piano man who comes on Thursdays and everyone enjoyed it so much! Blessings out of suffering. God is at work in their lives.

Thank you SO much to those of you who are making cards for Teri and Sid. They are loving those cards. I am able to deliver them once a week when I go to visit with them. Your card making is a blessing to them and lifts their spirits!

Many thanks and blessings to you all!

Hugs,
Mary : )

Sarah, depression and anxiety steal so much from life. Please know that God through His Son Jesus wants to set you free from these oppressive strongholds. Pour out your heart to Him who cares very much for you and wants to give you an abundant life filled with His peace and joy through all circumstances.

Love, Peace and Joy

Love
to make your memories brighter...
Peace
to make your heart at rest...
Joy
to make your life wonderful and really blessed.

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing. Romans 15:13

"An infinite God can give all of Himself to each of His children, He does not distribute Himself that each may have a part, but to each one He gives all of Himself as fully as if there were no others" - A. W. Tozer

Encouragement for today....

My Friend Jesus Christ

Let me tell you about
My Friend in high places
He's there for me all day and night;
Voluntarily on a twenty-four hour call.
I bring him my joys;
My cheerful moments and spectacular experiences,
He smiles with me
And reminds me these are his gifts to me.
I bring him my troubles;
My tattered life and shattered dreams,
I bring him my fears;
My many uncertainties and disquieting insecurities,
He calmly assures me with His words of encouragement
Reminding me that He's in complete control.
He died a cruel agonizing death for my sins,
And rose again on that glorious morn' of the third day.
I offer Him my humble thankfulness
And because I believe Him and His Word,
I joyfully await His promise fulfilled;
To live with my Friend for all eternity.

Have not be around for a while. Checking in and reading everyone's post. Praying for everyone that God will give them----comfort, courage, and strength to deal with the situations they have going on right now. Also, what to say "thanks" to God for surgery going so well for my son. They found the problem with his bladder, and hopefully this will be it. He is recovering well, the biggest problem is trying to keep a six-year old from running and jumping when he is not suppose to run and jump. It was a long surgery, and I was worried, but I felt God's presence. I also trusted this new doctor more than the last one. So, between the two--a skillful doctor and God--I did much better this time with his surgery. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers tonight.

If you don't see me for a few days, I am at my sister's up north. Internet service can be very sketchy. Have a good weekend.
Please pray for my almost 102 yr old aunt and my sister's best friend. They are both in ICU.

I haven't posted in this thread since Christmas eve. I sure could use some prayers. Still battling the mouth issues. It's been 2 years now and it is still a mystery. On top of that I am struggling mentally. Have trouble sleeping, then if I do fall asleep, I wake up with things going through my head that are minor, yet major to me! Don't understand it, but would like to ask that everyone who reads this to pray for me to trust and let it all in God's hands...

So very sorry to read you are still under attack physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Asking, trusting and believing the Lord will deliver you from all of this and bring you out into a very spacious place filled with His love, grace, joy and peace.

May the Lord bless you
with the precious dew from Heaven above
and with the deep waters that lie below;
with the best the sun brings forth
and the finest the moon can yield;
with the choicest gifts of the ancient mountains
and the fruitfulness of the everlasting hills;
with best gifts of the earth and its fullness and the favor of HIM who dwelt in the burning bush.

Thank you Caterina and Rita...I sure do appreciate having a place like this to come to when I am in need of prayers. I have a friend or two that we email prayers, but I sure miss my mother in law prayer warrior.

I have a dr. appt. the first week in March. Requesting specific prayers that he will send me in the right direction. I have been to five specialists, a dentist and my PCP and nothing. I guess I am a mystery so they pass me around because no one can figure it out. Could possibly stem from TMJ issues and I am making notes of what makes it worse, what makes it better and symptoms. I'm going prepared and am trusting God will have the dr. have some insight. Two years is a long time and I've had no relief at all in the past year. Don't get me wrong, it isn't horrible everyday everyhour, it's just never totally normal either.

I appreciate you and thank God for the love you share here.

Would appreciate continued prayers. Had such a great time of prayer and thought I had given it all to God and then WHAM...another mental stressor. I know if comes from a feeling of lack of control. I am an in control person and when I can't be, I stress. This is probably one more nudge from God to just let it all go, so I am praising him even in this storm. Thanks for listening....

Kathy, I'm continuing to pray for you and I'd like to share some thoughts with you. I'm so glad that you are praising Him even in your storm. Your remark reminded me of Philippians 4:6 & 7.

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known unto God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6 & 7

To me, it seems that this scripture passage speaks of the cure for anxiety .... and I think one of the most important phrases in that passage is "with thanksgiving". When we take all our prayer requests to Him and then offer our thanksgiving even before we see the answers to those prayers, I believe that is a wonderful faith builder for us and I believe that our praises and thanksgiving please the Lord very much.

Do you remember a Lipton Tea TV commercial from some years back? It featured a woman who was drinking a glass of iced tea and the tea relaxed and refreshed her so much that she felt as though she had just fallen backwards into a big swimming pool of water?

I hope you remember that commercial, so you have a mental picture of what I'm trying to say. The picture of that "relaxed" woman falling backwards into the water has stayed with me .... I think it's a perfect illustration of what God wants us to do. He wants us to just be SO sure of His love for us and SO sure that He always has our best welfare in mind, that we can just fall right back into His arms allowing Him to control all circumstances in our lives.

I heard a Christian speaker talk about the anxiety that had plagued her for a long time. I learned a lot from what she shared that day. She was constantly worrying about past troubles and also worrying about the troubles that might possibly come her way. She said that the following verse helped her put that anxiety behind her because she realized that she should be filling her mind with things that are actually true at this present time.

"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things." Philippians 4:8

This woman said that when doubts, fears and other negative thoughts came to her mind, she would immediately begin meditating on the truths found in the Bible ..... especially the awesome characteristics of the Lord such as His faithfulness, compassion, righteousness, etc. She began developing the habit of filling her thoughts with these holy and pure truths and she eventually overcame the stress and anxiety that had plagued her for so long.

I hope what I'm sharing may be of some help to you, Kathy.

Blessings, Rita

Your words do help Rita. I know those verses well. I guess I need to prepare ahead so I have thoughts to replace the negative thoughts that come because when they come now, my mind goes blank and I can't think of anything else! Preparation may be key for me here. Thanks.

Rita, shortly after I posted, I was hit with yet another stressor. I am smiling now, cause if it is Satan and he's working that hard he must be worried that he's losing the battle!! That can only be good news for me!

That's a good insight, Kathy!! I like your idea of preparing positive thoughts to mediate on so that when the stress hits, you'll be armed for the battle. Maybe you could write some of your favorite scripture verses down and carry them with you .... nothing makes Satan run like quoting scripture! Or perhaps the words to a favorite hymn would be good to have on hand .... begin singing praises to our wonderful King when you feel under attack.

I tend to sing quietly to myself "How great thou Art" or pray the Our Father!

My doctor appt. is Monday at 10:30. I would appreciate prayers for wisdom for the doctor and for my mind to be focused so I can explain the problems in a way that will be clear.

Kathy, trusting the Lord to keep you in His perfect peace as He gives great wisdom to the doctor to heal your body.

Please pray for this sweet child, Jackson, (2) who has a very rare disease and for his mommy (26) who is extremely ill. Here is the latest on the site.

My mommy is sick too now

I have had postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome for 6 years now, then my eye sites focusing system started to go, then seizures, then my stomach stopped working, then hypertension, then super ventricular tachycardia, and 3 days ago I was diagnosed with heart failure. I am not scared of dying I am scared of leaving my baby. I am 26 with a walker, a heart monitor, a blood pressure monitor, only liquid diet, and dying. I don't want pity I need prayer.

As soon as I read your request, Caterina, I had to stop right then and pray for these two! May the Lord pour out great mercy on them and their family!

Hi everyone. I've been off-the-grid since Hurricane Sandy hit NJ so hard - but I hope to get back to crafting and this forum soon. I do have two prayer requests.
1) So many people at the NJ shore still are not back in their homes after Hurricane Sandy. Please pray for financial relief and comfort for the many displaced due to this storm.
2) A friend (Lisa) just had surgery to remove a brain tumor that was pressing on her brain. They were able to get 98% of the tumor. She is a young mom (young compared to me-smile) of three girls. Her oldest a fresh in college, middle a fresh in H.S. and youngest in 8th grade. Please pray for her.
Also - I'd love to inundate her with cards if you are so inclined. She has a great sense of humor so humorous cards would be appreciated. She is also a very strong Christian - so scripture would be encouraging. If you would like to do this please go to: SCS Card Request Forum
Praying for all your many requests. You all are such a blessing to me.

Thanks for the prayers. I was reading Caterina's request and makes me feel silly with my smaller scale problems! I will add her to my prayer list, as well as Louise's requests.

The results from the doctor visit...he is sending me back to ENT. He says that even if this is jaw related, she would be the one to see. He gave me a prescription for an anti-seizure medication that would be used for pain in my case, but when the ENT doctor could see me so quickly (Wednesday) I decided it may be a sign from heaven NOT to fill the rx yet. My cholesterol is sky high, so I have to go back on those meds. I had gone off to see if my mouth issues cleared up, but they didn't. Also scheduled for a dexascan to see how osteoporosis is progressing (or hopefully not progressing!) Thank you all for bringing my requests before our great physician.

New issues have come up for me. I was in severe back and leg pain. Went to the see the doc and he sent me for xrays. They show mild degenerative disc disease and mild misalignment of the spine. I am to call back Monday and if still in pain, next is MRI. My dexascan shows osteo is better in two places and worse in the hip. Can't sit still on the chair for long periods of time, so I am just checking in to update you all and ask for continued prayer. Thanks.

Having lost nearly 4 inches in height due to degenerative discs, can well appreciate what you are going through right now, Kathy. Trust the Lord to give you all that you need to feel better as He uses the doctors to help you. Remember you are fearfully and wonderfully by your Father.

Thanks Rita and Caterina. I appreciate the prayers. God is good. My spirits remain high through all of this so your prayers are working in that respect! And my mouth issues are not as bad, but that could be from the pain meds for the back. Either way, it's nice to have relief from that for a little.
