Hi Just wanted to say thank you for all the advice and tips that you have given. It is so easy to feel ignored when a thread you start, or a comment you make, has no responses. After reading your tips, I realise that is is never intentional, as there are so many posts and threads starting at any one time. I also wanted to say how much I am loving this site and looking forward to making lots of cyber friends

[QUOTE=Jami;493352]OK - maybe I misrepresented myself a tad as I have no idea how to influence people, but I do have some tips on making friends here at SCS! Recently I've seen several posts from people feeling left out or ignored. That made me very sad and being a problem-solver by nature I came up with what I hope are some helpful tips to feeling more "in" around here. I know I've made some wonderful friends and with almost 40,000 of us here, there are plenty of friendships to go around.

User titles change with number of posts. If you look in the Get Started Forum there is a thread giving all the titles. If you want to change it you just need to post more - both forum posts and gallery comments count.

Thanks Jami, I've been quietly observing for years..I am in awe of the amazing talent the ladies of SCS demonstrate and share. Maybe I'll start small and leave a praise or two every day...bless their day as they have blessed mine with their inspired pieces!

Talking Hi, Jami

WOW! You did a wonderful job explaining all of this! I'm not new to Stampin'up, but new to SCS. So I will continue to figure all this out. Know any W.V. folks out there, in SCS world?

That's awesome! I love it when I can recognize SCSers by face as well as screen name! Good job (and great pic!). Next you'll be starting a gallery, I'll bet!

Default Wonderful ! ! !

This has really really helped due to the fact I am new to all of this including stamping in general...lol and I have still yet to actually do my first stamp. This might be changing tonight <woohoo> My sister (the one that has introdiced me to my newest addiction) just gave me a lot of things to get started, while I am waiting on stamp sets that I have ordered. I am sooo excited. This post here was a wonderful way, and had alot of info...THANK YOU <shouting in a good way>

Default RAK?

hi there! I am soo new to this. Here's a question for you: what is a RAK? I've seen the term around for maybe a week or two but don't know what it is. This group intimidated me so much until today when I checked out how to be a member! I'll try to upload something soon!

RAK = Random Act of Kindness. Often it refers to sending cards for no reason or sometimes people request them for friends/family going through difficult situations.

Jami

Thank you for those suggestions. I've been in and out of here for a little over a year now. My time is often limited and when I am out here I tend to be out here for HOURS........there's SO much to learn. I've rarely posted in my year, nervous I guess as I don't know as much as most of these wonderful gals. I did get brave while I was on a break from school here recently and I actually did some of the challenges for WCMD. I even uploaded them AND I did add my picture (with my BIG baby boy cuz he's SO handsome) too. I'm hoping to do more challenges but schools on again. 16 wks of education pushed into 5 wks makes for alot of work after work and little time for Dianna after every day life that also has to be attended too. I've missed my stamping so much lately!

One of the great things about SCS is that there will always be someone here when you have the time! You can play any of the weekly challenges any time you have a few minutes! Good for you jumping in on WCMD and for posting your avatar!

This is my first post and I really appreciate your helpful hints, Jamie. Thanks so much! I have been checking out SCS for some time now but have never joined in. However, I have gotten a lot of great ideas! There is so much talent and helpful information on this website. And it seems like so many friendly people. Now that I have retired!...yea...I think I will try to get more involved.
Thanks again--Kathy

Default Great site! I'm new to stamping and this is amazing.

Thanks to all of you who are truly amazing. There are creative juices at work on this site. I love seeing your cards, scrapbook pages and art projects.

The first time I got on I was so involved the baby had knocked over the plant and was eating dog food when I got to him. Word to the wise, wait for naptime before engrossing yourself in the galleries.

Look forward to "meeting" you!

Was it TLC202 Tacky Glitter?
TLC202 Tacky Glitter

If that's not it, was it a sketch challenge or color challenge or what?
Here's the Challenge Forum http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/fo...splay.php?f=40 and each type of challenge has it's own sub-forum. You can alos get to them from the side bar on the right hand side of the SCS home page.

Sorry I didn't see this before. Here's a link to instructions
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/fo...d.php?t=197377

Any and all companies stuff is welcome in the galleries here. When using non-SU stuff be sure to put the name of the company in the keywords field since all the other company galleries are keyword-driven.

Thanks so much for the wonderful advice. I look forward to making friends here. However, at the moment I feel like first grader in the middle of a college class. I am new to both SCS and to card making. So far I just have bought some stuff and when I go to make a card my mind goes blank and when I see wonderful cards I think, "I could make that", but alas I don't have the right stuff to do it. Then when I am looking at stuff to buy I am at a loss as to what to buy. Do I sound crazy. I am a 61 year old grandmother and really I am creative, I am, I am. So where do I begin.
Thank you for all you wonderful crafty ladies.

Welcome.. I usually start with browsing the gallery for hours and gathering ideas and storing them in my brain.. Later when I go to create idea will come to me from hat I have seen before. Either a design element or a certain technique. HTH

Default thank you Jami

i live in NYC, and it seems no one here scrapbooks...or rubber stamps.... except me and my mom. of course, i know there are others out there, but at meetupDOTcom it seems all the 'stampers' are actually 'consultants'. LOL i need new stamps like i need a hole in my head.
it's nice to meet people online, but i am always afraid i'll say the wrong thing. i'm glad that you posted ideas to make myself more 'open' to the group.
thanks, jami

Hi Jami,
Thanks for the wonderful advice. I joined SC in december but I am terrible with computers and am trying to figure out things. I have soooo much I want to share. Card/Scrapbook Lo.

Really looking forward to making lots of new friends on SC
