Default Thanks for the advice

Thanks for the advice on how to make friends and get to know others on SCS. As a newbie, eventhough I signed up in June or July, I find it helpful. I haven't done much so I have to get busy and post, post, and upload. Thanks again.

Okay, I just skimmed the last few pages and wanted to welcome all the new people to SCS. This is a great site. It's a busy place, too! Sometimes you aren't being ignored, but the posts get lost a few pages back. That has happened to me more times than I can remember! Hope you all enjoy it as much as I have. I've made some wonderful friends and that was just recently even though I've been on this site for at least two years.

ENJOY!

I am trying how to post my pic as well. I can't seem figure out how to get it small enough. I have Vista and don't know if that makes it harder.

Great advice for us newbies -- though I have already felt very welcome and comfortable at SCS. Everyone has been really great at offering advice to my questions about Cricut machines. So I agree the suggestion to post, post, post! And ask questions, people are really very helpful here.

So glad a friend recommended the site!!

Great tips and advice for a newbie. It can be a little overwhelming when you see all the amazing work that you have all posted. But people have been so kind, and helpful. The tips and techniques are amazing and people are so positive and open to suggesting new ideas.

Great thread.

Looking forward to posting and receiving some feedback.

I appreciate this! I'm new here...just joined today...and I'm having a hard time trying to figure out HOW to post. Also, is there any way to find out what each group does? I know what a RAK is but what kind of RAKs does a SCS do? STAMP OUT FAT! Does that mean the group is folks trying to lose weight (That's me!!!) I just need a little help!

Thumbs up HEY! I'm figuring this out!

I just figured out how to reply to a post! I'm getting pretty excited. I posted this in my last message but if anyone can give me a general idea about what each individual group is about I'd appreciate it!

I think I will enjoy being here.

I'm very new here....just minutes. I'm a 61 year old wife, mother, grandmother, pastor's wife, secretary. I've only been stamping about a year but I LOVE it!

I'm on my son's laptop right now & the battery is about dead so I'll close this. Hope to get to know you all better real soon!

Default Hi!

Hi there!

I'm new to stamping, so have bought a couple of sets over on the Buy/Sell Thread, but didn't quite know how or where to start with making some friends!

It always feels a bit awkward just 'butting-in' to peoples conversations (thanks for that good ettiquette Grandma! ). But you guys here have made it nice and easy! Thank you heaps for helping us newbies with some hints and tips - and a friendly welcome.

Looking forward to making loads of lovely friends!

Cheers, Shannah

Hello, I have visited this site in the past, but now I am ready to try and figure it all out. So much to learn. I have been stamping for about 10 years and am recently off work and have time to stamp again. I am anxious to make some friends, learn lots of new techniques, and have some fun.

Hello! I've been a stamper (demo) for 9 years... and a lurker on SCS for MANY years... I "bit the bullet" within the past week or two and started a gallery and am still learning. (Thanks BEate for your patience!)

But I still have not figured a few thigns out... how to put my picture where my name is on the left <---
and how to add a signature line
and how to PM (can it only be done from the gallery? How do I know if someone PM'd me?)

I'll keep looking around... if anyone wants to help a confused stamper... look for me wandering around.

Thanks

PM - see the little green envelope at the very top right corner of your screen? Click on that to PM someone or to retrieve messages from your In-box. You can also PM someone by clicking on their user name to the left of their post - you'll get a drop down menu and one of the options is to PM them. You can PM me if you want to test it out.

Signature and avatar (picture) - look at the upper right just above this thread - see Quick Links? Clcik that and one of your options will be to Edit Signature - click that and a box will come up (like a reply box) to create your signature. Also there will be a panel to your left and one of the options will be Edit Avatar - that's where you upload the photo you want under your user name when you post.

Hope that helps.

Yes I believe Stamp Out Fat is a weight loss support group.

The RAK group - sends out cards and I think they also have some other specific sub groups now that do stuff...I don't have details on that but you could post a question in the General Stamping Forum...or you could just join and find out when you get there.

Default Thanks, Jami. Now how do you add your photo to your posts?

[QUOTE=Jami;493352]OK - maybe I misrepresented myself a tad as I have no idea how to influence people, but I do have some tips on making friends here at SCS! Recently I've seen several posts from people feeling left out or ignored. That made me very sad and being a problem-solver by nature I came up with what I hope are some helpful tips to feeling more "in" around here. I know I've made some wonderful friends and with almost 40,000 of us here, there are plenty of friendships to go around.

Hi Jami, Thank you for your thoughtful post. I am brand-new at this, and want to add my photo. I thought I had done so in my profile, but I don't know for sure. HOw do I add it to my posts?
Thanks so much,

Hi Again,
I edited my Avatar, but don't see it when I go in to look. Does that mean it's not there? I guess I am really, really new at forums...maybe this was not such a good idea for someone who is not "techy savvy" Thanks to all who have been so friendly thus far..

I have to admit I didn't read all 5 pages of replies, so I apologize if this is a "repeat"! The only thing I would add is to leave comments for people even if they aren't posting a challenge card! As a newbie, before I joined I lurked a lot, and I noticed that all the cards with lots of comments are all challenge cards. I understand why that is, since others are interested in what you did with a challenge, I think it neglects those who do great work without a challenge! I personally do a sort by number of comments when I'm looking for ideas, if there are lots and lots of entries in that stamp set gallery. But then I end up looking only at the challenges. These may or may not be the best cards, in the sense that it could be the best done with that particular set of rules, but perhaps someone else's ideas are even better because they weren't restricted. KWIM? I hope this makes sense, and isn't intended to be a criticism, just something I noticed.
I wouldn't take it personally if my forum post was ignored, but I would hope that SOMEONE would have some idea of an answer.
Have a great day everyone!

Thanks for all the wonderful tips for a new member. I've been checking out the site for a while and became a fan club member tonight. I'm excited to be a part of this stamping community and look forward to becoming involved in things.

There are so many wonderful ideas for cards on here that I always find something I can case. But tonight I looked into the forums and was thrilled to see that the members really reach out to each other when someone needs someone to lean on or a prayer to help them get through another day.

I can't wait to get to know you all.

OK...my first post. All good information, thanks.

My children tell me i'm Technologically Challenged. Email is about as good as it gets. I'm determined to figure out how to upload pictures...it's on my "to do" list. then I can play with others.

Default Card Swaps

Hello from Katy Texas! I could really use some advice and help locating some card swaps. I absolutely love making cards as well as collecting them, so to make some new friends and swap some cards would be awesome! Thanks for any help you can offer! Jeannine

Hi Jeannine from Texas - Welcome from South Lake Tahoe, Ca. Click on the "Forums" at the top of this page - takes you to the "Forums" page. Run down the list on the left side to "Swaps" Click on that and there's a bunch to choose from - Hope that helps. Dru
