Thanks Jami for the great thread! I get frustrated sometimes and leave...but guess what....I always come back!!!!!!!!!! There's no place like what's here. I'm back for good...gonna' follow your guidelines!
Location: Yup, that's me and WILLIE NELSON!!! (insert heart here!) :)
What a fantatic thread! That is exactly how I started meeting you wonderful people! I started by doing the weekly sketch challenges and it took off from there! This is the best place to be! Thanks to EVERYBODY who has made me feel a part of SCS!!!!
I've noticed that as this sight grows, the number of new cards uploaded each day has also grown. Some days there are no posts to many of these cards. I try to pick three that I like and say somethng nice about them. I don't think that people don't like these cards, I just think it is hard to post to everything you like because there are so many. If everyone just picked one card a day, it would encourage those members to keep posting.
I met Jami when I joined one of her swaps over Christmas! I was so impressed with how she handled it and she even sent little presents when we got our cards from her. What a nice way to get involved and feel apprciated! Later as we seemed to reply to some of the same threads I realized that we joined in the same month. I had to laugh because at the time she had over 4000 posts and I think I was almost to 100! LOL! I think she definitely felt comfortable at once, I on the other hand kept reading the forums and looking at the cards but felt toooooo intimidated to say anything. Now I feel so comfie that I check this website at least twice a day! I love looking at the gallery and have started posting replies there also. This is simply a wonderful place to make friends. My friends in my home state (can't say because of DDSS) get so tired of me talking about SCS! One friend of mine said she counted to see how much I mentioned SCS in five minutes and I mentioned it 15 times! SCS and Jami ROCK!!!
OH JAMI! You made tears come to my eyes! I am very glad to call you my friend too!!! Jami is so very sweet! I was thrilled when she pm'd me and we began chatting. I have also learned a ton from her and all her wisdom! Thanks Jami!!
I will share another friendship with you:
I made a purchase from Doris months ago and then again a month or so after that - I pm'd her and said "I think I purchased from you before" We began talking and before I knew it we were chatting often. We have shared a lot with each other over the months and I am very glad to call her my friend!

Jami, dear girl, you deserve a lifetime of chocolate sundaes for this post! You are truly a good person. Definitely epitomize one of my favorite sayings: "Better to light a candle than curse the darkness..."
The only suggestion I had formed was the one you just added: put your first name in your post or sig line. SO much nicer when I can put a name in a reply, so much so that sometimes I don't reply just because I can't call the poster by name!

Of course in my case...
First, I want to say that this thread is WONDERFUL!!! Thank you so much for starting it, Jami!!
Second, I want to say that personally, I am very leery of posters who don't have AT LEAST their first name on their siggy. Makes me think there's a reason they are hiding. But, to then have neither a location (be it for real or just silly) nor any information on their profile, I doubt their intentions even more!! Oops, that sounded negative, didn't it?? I'm sorry. I just felt that was a very good point & that it would certainly humanize the poster if this was done! (Did I redeem myself?? I would go back & delete some, but I really wanted to say it all... )

I want to thank everyone for this thread, especially Jami (love the glamour shot). I have been coming here for the last few months and think it is wonderful. But I need to put some of those suggestions into action so I can become more involved here and meet more of you. I guess one of the first things I need to do is put my picture up. Don't have a glamour shot, but I'll find something.
I can't remember if I signed my name in e-mails to my SS or not. Since I never use it here except in PM's I may have so I will put it in my signature after the great reveal. I will try to get someone to help me put in a picture since I'm totally clueless.
"Lord,if you cain't forgive me all my sins, just don't remember them too good,no." "Thank you,Amen"
I learned a lesson about this on another forum (I know...how can there be any other place than here....there really isn't!)
I made a card, wasn't thrilled with it but uploaded it anyway....and guess what? That card got more comments than any other!!!! So now, when I hesitate, I remember that there are a lot of different styles out there and mine might be just what someone else is looking for!
I've made some really good friends on this site. I started out with joining swaps and met people that way. One of the things that someone mentioned on a swap thread was that she always e-mailed everyone about the cards that she got back. I started doing that also. When I get my cards, I try to e-mail all the ones that included their address with their swap and tell them something that I really liked about their card. Also, I love the SS program. That's a great way to get to meet someone.

Great post! I strongly feel that EVERYONES creations are important to this site. It's a great thing that we all have our own style to showcase. I enjoy the freinds that I have made and continue to make here!
Now, this is one great thread! Personaly, I need to follow some of that advice myself... as I have a hard time making friends. It's getting easier, though!
My ignor list is quite empty. It will probably always be empty because there's So Many Cool Gals here!
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at
Thank you for this information. I am a lurker. I love SCS and look at it daily. But I am NOT good with this computer stuff, I will learn how to get an avatar and to upload cards, figure out what a signatrure line is, and some day I will host a swap. Thanks for the encouragement!
Thanks for all the ideas. I too am clueless about a lot of the computer things, but I certainly enjoy reading forums, viewing galleries, and adding comments.
I'll have to figure out how to add my name in the signature.
Have a great week, everyone.
I think that you covered it all!!
Don't take it personally

I agree with it deserving a bump. I hae taken lots of this advice -- got an avatar, filled in a little more on my biography area and have been trying to post like a mad woman! I even finally got brave and started a gallery. So, thanks Jami for all the friendly encouragement (and the comment on one of my cards!). I think everyone should read this thread.
thanks for the great advice... it seems there have been several positive threads latley that have encouraged us all to jump right in. I am having more fun now that I have started posting regularly instead of just reading and moving on. I don't have any friendship stories yet, but at least I feel like you all are getting the cance to get to know me as much as I am getting to know you! I was finally brave enough to post my name a few days ago. I think my DH would think I was nuts. He is waaaay to cautious some times. Maybe as I get to know everyone better I'll say to heck with his concerns and actally refer to my kids by NAME when I talk about them intead of DS#1 ect.!!! I'm pretty convinced by now that you are not all crazy stalkers (ok-sometimes a little crazy- but at least not stalkers!! LOL)
was Britta...I PM'd her about a situation, we chatted about it, then made up wild stories about it. It connects us still...
Some days/weeks later we got into some crazy discussion over moderator uniforms and rainbow caftans...I swear I can't walk through walmart's lingerie department and look at a housecoat and not think of that thread!
I am just reading this and have to totally agree with everything and everybody. I can't be too specific due to SS program, but I have read up on my SS, watched her posts, emailed back and forth, and feel like I have gotten to know her better. It makes me feel much more connected. I only have a few cards in my gallery, but it makes me feel so good that people have taken the time to post comments. Maybe we all need to look for those cards that are nice, but have fewer comments. I will try to post more comments and continue to add to my gallery.
