Default Had to let our kitty go over the rainbow bridge

Our youngest (5 years old) little orange tabby had to be euthanized on Tuesday morning. I woke up to find his hind legs paralyzed. Long story short, he had an undetected heart condition (HCM) that produced a blood clot causing the paralysis. The diagnosis at the vet wasn't good and Hubs and I had to make the ultimate decision.

Been through it before, will have to do it again - but it's never easy. I thank goodness for our vets - they are truly just outstanding indivduals in the care of our pets.

=^..^=

I'm so sorry for your loss. I understand the pain you feel, we have taken in many rescues over the years (and have a house full of critters now) and they become such an important part of the family.

Blessings,
Erika

Anne,

So sorry to hear of the loss of your furry friend. I've had cats all my life and my husband and I have had as many as 8 at a time, even tho, technically, we're not a rescue shelter. I've lost 2 since Oct., and know how hard it hits you. I'm sorry you have to go through this pain right now, but know that your kitty was as blessed to have you in his life as you were to have him in yours.

Take care,
Tracy

So sorry to hear this. I had one cat for 18 years. She was born on our place and died about 5 feet from where she was born. We live in the country and it seems that something gets our cats every once in a while. I had a half Siamese for 10 years and loved him. My last kitty, Girlfriend, was here for only about 5 years. I'm almost afraid to get any more as I hate loosing them. However, my two Boston Terriers are a great joy to me.

So sorry you had to put your kitty to sleep, but glad you were there to do it so he didn't suffer.

Anyone who has had pets has probably had this experience, and it's always so hard to do, even though you know it's the right thing to do.

And, Kate, I used to let my cats be inside-outside cats, but bad things happened to them too many times. I know some folks don't like to deal with litter pans, but to me it's a much better alternative than losing pets to all the dangers outdoors.

It seems like it's become a more dangerous world for innocent creatures, and people. You can't really let children go outside to play all over the neighborhood like we used to, and I don't think kitties and dogs can go out to play either.

Sorry for your loss and the sadness of having to make such a decision. I've been in that situation myself a few times over the last several years ... two because of age and health issues and one becuase of brain tumor. In my opinion one time is too many but it is so much better than letting them suffer.
You did the right thing at the end of the day.
(Hugs) Cara
