I have a request from all my Canadian Stampers out there.
My Gr. 3 class is going to be studying Canadian Geography in January. To prepare, we've read Flat Stanley, a book by Jeff Brown, about a boy that accidentally becomes flat and can mail himself on adventures. I'm hoping to be able to send Stanley across Canada to build some excitement about the provinces, territories and cities we will be studying.
I'm hoping that you will agree to "host" one of the Stanleys my class has created. A paper doll would be mailed to you. I'd appreciate it if you could take picture(s) of Stanley as a tourist in your town. It doesn't need to be elaborate, even seeing lots of snow would be new to my kids! A postcard with a little detail about what Stanley has "seen" would also be helpful. I will include a self-addressed stamped envelope in which to send Stanley home.
Thank you so much in advance for your help. I'm hoping to get all the addresses we need so that I can have my students write letters in the first week of January and mail them with Stanley out to you by Jan. 11th.

Reason: Listing Stanley's Mailing Date
I`d be happy to do Nova Scotia, or at least around parts of the Halifax Regional Municipality. Sambro is home to the oldest operating lighthouse in North America so I might be able to do something around that, or at least with Stanley on a fishing boat in Sambro Right now, most of the boats are full of lobster cages

Please send Stanley to Edmonton, Alberta and maybe I can take him to West Edmonton Mall! Our kids sewed a bear in grade 3 to study world geography. It was lots of fun.
Hi there, How many people or Stanley's do you have for each province? I can send a note to my friend in Manitoba and see if she can help you. When does Stanley have to be back home for school? How long does he have for his vacation travels?
It's been so busy with the Christmas concerts and other demands on my students' time, we won't get Stanleys out January. I want to use the mailing as an opportunity to teach my students about letter writing.
We expect that Stanley will be gone for about a two week vacation plus mailing time. As long as he comes back to us, we are happy.
Wow, would the class ever be excited to see West Edmonton Mall.
We are trying for two Stanley's per province but as long as they are in different cities, that's all we care about. My students would be thrilled to send an extra Stanley or two.
We'd love to have some help with Manitoba.
Thank you so much everyone for your interest. My students are so excited when we get mail and people respond to their writing. My class is still talking about having their MP respond to a letter we wrote last year. It's so energizing and powerful for them.

Hi there. Please tell Jack that Flat Stanley arrived safe and sound here today. I have made him an outfit suitable for Edmonton weather to go over his nice t shirt. It just slips over his head and does not damage Stanley in any way. You can see his picture wearing his new parka in the gallery.
Great project!
your friend in Edmonton,
Liz
p.s. We have put Stanley in the guest bedroom and are making sure he is comfortable.
Flat Stanely just arrived here in Alberta. Please tell Allan that I made the trip very quickly. My host is going to be taking me around town in the next few days. talk to you soon.
Here's a link to my Facebook album showing Flat Stanley's visit to Sambro and the Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The ablum is set to public and I don't think you need a Facebook account to go and view the album.

The Facebook photos are fabulous! The kids will love them!
I sent the pictures back with Flat Stanley both in real photo form and printed in colour on paper along with the little bits of text from Facebook. My husband mailed it for me Monday morning so hopefully it won't take too much time to arrive. We had fun doing this. I wish I would have more time to take him other places

That would be fantastic. We had a doll come back and my student is devastated. Thank you so much!
Unfortunately, the teachers are on strike here in BC and I will not be able to resend the doll until at least Thursday when we are required to go back to work.
