MFT has come up with a new monthly feature and we think it's something you'll really enjoy. The My Favorite Things Design Team Creative Chat is a new monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative spaces and share valuable organizational methods, tools, and shopping strategies with you. You'll be able to peek into our creative spaces, ask questions, and share your own ideas in the MFT forum. This month, we were asked the following questions:
How do you store and organize your Die-namics?
Any fun or helpful Die-namics purchasing strategies you'd like to share?
How do you store extra Die-namics die-cuts?
Visit Kim's Blog for a full list of designers that have taken up the challenge and get ready to delve into the minds of our creative team!
We hope you'll find some organizational inspiration and look forward to seeing YOUR organizational methods. Please feel free to share pictures and answer the questions above.
I'm so excited to see how everyone stores their beloved supplies!
I like to store Die-namics in a set of plastic drawers according to categories I've made up. It's front and center on my craft desk because I can't make a card without them! I have a video here that explains further.
I was rather thrifty in creating my storage. I used a basket I had on hand and created box-bottom files to fit, labeling each file (category) with a tab die. For now, I have my border dies standing in the bottom part of cases my Copics came in.
I have more pics on my blog HERE as well as a tutorial for creating the folders (just in case you're thifty too).
What a great feature!! I can't wait to see all the different ways Die-namics can be stored! Here's a picture of my "system". You can see more pictures and a little explanation on my blog HERE.
Initially I had mine in this little drawer and was constantly hunting for which one to use?? And as I couldn't see them, I couldn't create the card in my head. So I came up with the idea of using magnets on my shelving units. But as you can see, it is already full so I need to start using the other side!
But at least this way, I can find the one I want to use a lot quicker!
How fun is this? I LOVE my Die-Namics and they take center stage on my stamp desk. I keep mine in Sterilite drawers separated into 9 different catagories! I hope you check out my blog post today for the details!
I took this to challenge myself and create a little video for you! It's my first sort of a crafty video and very home made, lots to learn yet, however it's from my heart. Hope you enjoy it.
LOVE this new Creative Chat! I love seeing how all you girls store your Die-namics! My Die-namic storage revolves around chocolate! Yep, that's what I said! My Die-namics are all stored in clear plastic boxes that Ferrero Rocher chocolates come in. It's the perfect solution for me, the more Die-namics MFT comes out with, the more chocolates I need to eat!
I have lots of picutres on my blog today explaining my system. You can view the post HERE.
I was so nervous about sharing....organization isn't my strong suit, but I always know where everything is.
I store my die-namics in these magnetic folders by QuicKutz. The bigger dies, like the doilies, I keep all together in a baggie the die-namics come in. Our spare bedroom is my craft room, so when I have to clean everything up, I pop the folders into a cute canvas bin.
more pics and tips on my blog....fair warning, I bare it all. I'm showing you my space in all it's glory(*wink*wink*I did not clean up for this segment). www.mylittlecreativeescape.blogspot.com
I have my Die-namics stored out in the open, on my dedicated die-cutting table. It helps me stay organized, helps me find what I need easily, and helps me make a decision when I am not sure what I want to use. Here is a peek at my table and my storage. You can read all the details and see more pics on my blog.
Wow....thank you all so much for sharing. I looked at each of your blogs (and videos), but didn't take the time to comment individually. This is so very helpful, and it's great to know that some of you have "messy spaces" like I do! To me, you are all "Creative Goddesses" and this information is gold
awww, Thanks, Daphne. I don't know about "creative Goddesses", but so Glad you liked it!
I too, loved this group post. I have a few tricks and tips I'm going to implement into my own system! Truthfully, I usually just drool over the cards and not always read the chit chat inbetween...NOT this time. I loved reading what everyone wrote and those videos sure were fun. Plus, it was so fun to get a peek into everyone's creative spaces.
Ladies - that was a totally fun "HOP" today seeing all the different storage ideas! Like Lisa said earlier -- I don't usually read the post but I did today. Thanks for the terrific ideas -- and oh yeah -- btw -- can I just say I WANT TO BE ON THIS TEAM!! I do love setting goals for myself~
Love seeing how everyone stores their dies! I love how differently each design team member stores them and I can't wait to see how all the MFT customers store their dies too!
I love how different everyone's storage system is too! This is a timely chat because I'm at a point where I need a new system. I confess I've been hesitant to invest in the doilies, but now that I see so many great storage ideas, I realize it was the how-to-store them issue that was holding me back!
With the Binders loaded with Magnet strips it was getting a bit awkward to lift... so I bought these film strip photo frames on clearance at M's... and well, it fits as Dienamics ARE a star.... LOL

This was such a fun hop, great to get to peek into everybody's spaces a bit. I have actually been in Lisa's space IN PERSON!!!!
I did a post a few months ago about my whole space, but here are the pics of my die storage.
The basket with my small dies no longer has pearls and rhinestone pkgs at the back, it's all dies

fabulous ideas, and since I am fairly new to die namics adn my collection is still relatively small the cd case storage I'm using is working great but I'll have to remember these ideas when they've outgrown their current space
Thanks Jody, it's a storage I can grow into also... I have some more and will scrounge around other M's to get some more... if I run out and need more I SO can't make them something different as that would TOTALLY throw off my matchy matchy thing.... LOL Sometimes being OCD is SO difficult to deal with!!!! I've TRIED to ignore it....
Loved going around the blogs and checking out the die-namic storage ideas......
I will try to post a pic of my die storage sometime this week. I have not seen the exact idea, although I do use magnetic sheets (I recycled magnetic sports schedules that accumulated through out the 10-12 years instead of buying magnetic sheets).

I, too, use the QuicKuts Magnetic Storage Books (because Patter Cross suggested them on her organizational section of her blog) and LOVE them for my Nesties and Die-namics. I leave the Die-namics in the plastic bags they come in because it's easier to pull the bag off the magnet. All the oval Nesties are together in one book, rectangles in another, etc. I only have a few Die-namics so they are together in another book. I think I have 6 books so far and I buy them at Hobby Lobby with coupons.

WHOA!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing!
I popped over from Wendy's blog and I am loving this thread!! When I stop sneezing I will take a pic of mine but Barb I'm intimidated now!!
So many wonderful storage methods!! I'm starting to get quite a collection, and mine are just tossed in a bin. I need to find a way to store them properly. I have my Nesties stored in the Quickutz magnetic folders, so it might be logical to continue with that method for my Dienamics. I would like to find a way to store them so that I can label them. I'm bad about forgetting the names of them.
