Default Die-Namics ability

Do the Die-Namics cut through thin chipboard (like the 12x12 sheets at Ms')

I have a big shot, but don't have any other shims or anything like that if extra is needed.

Hi Jamie. I am not familiar with the thin chipboard at Michaels, but they will cut through thin chipboard (cereal box thickness). A Big Shot is a good machine with decent pressure, so depending on the shape you are trying to cut, you may not need anything additional (simple shapes cut more easily than intricate shapes, such as flourishes). As with any die-cut machine, you can add paper shims to increase the pressure of your machine if you are having a hard time cutting something.

I do recommend purchasing the metal adapter plate to anyone who likes to use intricate dies or cut with materials other than card stock, because it really increases the effectiveness of your die-cutting machine. I have a Vagabond, and use the metal adapter plate often, just to make my machine more "tough" with what it can cut.

Here is a link if you want to take a look:

Large Metal Adapter Plate for Die-namics

While it mentions it is for the Cuttlebug, it will work in your Big Shot.

Good question! There are so many varying thicknesses of chipboard, I can't guarantee it will cut without knowing how thick it is. Die-namics work with thin chipboards and cardboards, such as cereal boxes. We have a resources section on the bottom of our Die-namics page that should offer more detailed information as well. Thanks ladies! I think I will be ok with nothing extra. It isn't even as thick as cereal boxes if I remember right.
