Default emotion words and color

When you hear and try to use an emotion word in your art journal what colors come to mind with those words. For example:

anger - red
fear - grey or black
happy - yellow
calm - blue-green

Do you see different colors for these words or have other word/color combinations to add to the list?

Those are similar to the colors I use. I also use blue when I'm sad, which is odd, because blue is my favorite color. I think it's the shade that differs. I use darker blues when I'm sad and brighter blues when I'm happy.

Interesting, maybe it's an unconscious effort to comfort yourself.

Lol, if I need to convey nausea I'd probably use the color pink just because I dislike the color so much

Stacy & I will never agree on this pink dislike, lol.

This is a hard question. I put a lot of thought into it.

anger - Blood Orange
fear - Light Gray
happy - Nature Greens & Light Blues
calm - White

What about confusion or feeling lost, what color comes to mind for those or for the feeling of Hope...

I'm not sure about "lost," but "hope" brings to mind the color yellow. I don't know why, but it does. Maybe the image of a sunrise beginning a new day? It's interesting to actually think about this.

Stacy hope is pink. I know you are just thrilled with that answer, ROFL. I always think of hope as a sunset pink.

Confusion always feels to me like black.

yeah, yeah - I can see that actually but bleck. ;-)

I was thinking grey for confusion so I totally get the black, maybe the degree of confusion would determine the degree of darkness from grey to black. I was definitely frustrated and confused when the power went out recently and I did make a black page about it but only used one coat so it was more grayish in color.

Yellow for hope. That's good one because it's bright and happy. White comes to mind for me as well because I think of white a starting over with a new beginning.

Anyone else still hanging out in this section of SCS and want to weigh in on what different colors mean to them.

When I'm depressed I tend toward greys and subtle color combos (not much variation)... when I'm stressed I start putting loud colors together.

I love using this concept in my Bible journal too.

Here's a fun and comprehensive list:

Lol, people always think that but it's more along the idea of,"I'm a girl and I HAVE to like pink". I'm SICK of people telling me I have to like the color just because, ummm no I don't. If I were to do a depressed page this week it would be white because all the frozen stuff we have gotten or are fore-casted to get in next few days is making me depressed, ugh.

I love a very warm yellow orange pink combo - this gives me peace, with a touch of joy.

I also love teal, green, yellow, blue - this gives me peace, with a touch of movement or excitement or depth.
