Default MIX129 - Transferance

Challenge Title: Transferance
Hostess: UnderstandBlue (Lydia)
Keyword: MIX129

Ready for a new Mix-Ability challenge?!! We hope you're having fun with these! Our goal is to make mixed media easy, approachable and FUN! We want to convince you that no matter what your style is - you can DO it!

This week's challenge is Transferance. Use one of any transfer techniques to transfer text or pictures to your project. Remember - a minimum of two mediums must be used.

Here are some great transfer methods:

Here's my video on using gel medium:

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/tdyHzRjs-Lc?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

and here are some others

1) Paint some Mod Podge onto your surface. Adhere an old book page or ink jet printout and quickly rub off the excess paper, leaving only the text. Tutorial here.
Paint gel medium onto a magazine image. Put gel side down on cardstock. Smooth with brayer or bone folder. Let dry. Mist with water and rub off excess paper.

2) Use gel medium:

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/IEuTTM8n-yg?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

3) Use solvent based markers: tutorial here.

4) Do a packing tape transfer - beautiful tutorial here.

Remember to use the keyword MIX129 when uploading your creations to the gallery, come back and post a link, and let us "ooooooh" and "ahhhhhh" over your works of art!

Interesting! I have some transfer glaze which I've been wanting to try, but at 4 coats with drying time between each and then a further two hours dry time - it's not going to be today :-(. Certainly not the complete process, but I hope to start it.

I'm late with everything today! I added my video, which uses gel medium.

MIX129 Booked
Here's mine - I was a bit rushed making a card with the transferred image, because I'm out for the day tomorrow. But I still like it, just need to glue some of the border down a bit better ;-).
This was great fun, thank you Lydia. I nearly wore my fingers out last time I tried with laser colour copies, so was relieved that this old book page came off very easily indeed.

Lydia, your laundry card is so pretty. I wish I had the stuff and the time to play with this technique!

Lydia, I am wondering how long you need to leave it to dry before rubbing off the paper.

I let my third try dry over night. The first two .. well I didn't follow the instructions completely and well .. You know .. Didn't work (surprise, surprise). But third time's the charm. Found a photo by Del Sol Photography in our AMA Westworld Magazine and had some fun. I've uploaded it, but couldn't find the correct category in the drop down menu. I've tagged it with MIX 129 though. Here it is in case you can't find it.

DTGD15JeanneS A Wordy Hello

My overall concept for this failed, but I was able to cut it up and upcycle it onto a card this week.
