Well all the wood mounted stamps have been dismounted and stored in clear cases! Wow am I glad I did it! So much more room...now I use stamps I haven't seen in YEARS! Here's the question....WHAT TO DO WITH THE WOOD BLOCKS. Can't bear to throw them away. Surely someone has come up with creative ways to reuse them. Have given some to school/daycare...made daubers out of the little ones and small blocks are are perfect for the foam for all my TH distressed ink...much cheaper than buying the holders for foam inking. Still have a ton of larger blocks...now what to do with them. Help! donna
You're not going to like my answer. I didn't need to save myself another project. I tossed them. Before I tossed them, my mind ran through a dozen ideas, but I just decided to not add to my to do list. Here's some ideas for grins:
Building blocks for the kids
Picture frames (deco page pictures on)
Donate to a daycare (which would mean I'd have to clean them first)
Build a bird house (or three)
Paint them fun and crazy colors and then tile an old table top (small table), then add a glass top.
Paint/stamp my kid's names on them, adhere them to a backing and create a name plate to hang on the walls or their door.
Too bad you're many states away! I'm talking my hubby into helping cut and sand blocks for a project - about 40 of them. Making our own "cube" background stamp with leftover rubber.

and where are you? anywhere near MD? I have some too...
I recently attended a scrapgroup get together with online friends in AR and we made ATG stands out of the left over blocks our friend had. Liquid Glue and blocks...easy peezeee........Now my ATG guns stand on the stand on my desk!

I have given some to the elementary school where my kiddos used to attend, some to nieces and nephews for their children and have held onto some for 'just because.' But since we will be moving soon, those 'just because' blocks need to go to new homes!
I posted a message for free blocks if they paid the shipping. I used the US one rate boxes and asked their preferences of size blocks. I stuffed as many as I could in a box and sent them off. After a few shipping it got to be a pain. I cleaned a few for the grandkids. I couldn't find a charity that would take the blocks unless they were clean. Sadly, most were thrown away and we're taking about a few thousand blocks since I unmounted close to 5,000 stamps.
Stamphappy1650, you had 5,000 stamps!?!?! If I counted all of mine, including my clear, I might have 150, most of them tiny. I'm so jealous!
Zarine, what did you do with all the blocks that you bought on eBay?
Icchio, I'd be afraid to burn them in a fireplace or stove. Wood treated with a preservative releases toxins into the air and leave toxic residue in the ash: Treated wood can be deadly in fireplace
I haven't removed my stamps from their wood mounts yet, but I think I'll use my blocks to make photo holders by adding a Tim Holtz memo pin at the top of a block. I haven't had a chance to see the memo pins in person as my JoAnn's did not have any when I went looking today.
