How do you keep track of everything you have?

What a good question. Yesterday I found some pearls I didn't know I had. Apparently I need a better track of things.

Do you mean the big things like ink pads and stamps?

My best tools are swatch sheets of the colors I own. I have my coloring mediums charted. So I have Copic charts, watercolor, pencils, stamp pad and stickle charts. I use these to keep track of what I own, but also to decide what color to use on a project.

I also have a binder/index of my stamps. I can see all of the stamps I own and it helps when I am planning a project. I have indexed my embossing folders and die-cuts in the same way.

It takes awhile to set the charts up, but they are pretty easy to maintain, as long as you discipline yourself to index everthing as you go. I make it a rule that I can't actually use a new item until I add it to my index. All of your effort will pay off when you get to use the index binders. I've found them to be very helpful. One added benefit for me is that my daughters can see easily what I have, as well.

I keep a notebook with pages for various "products" I own. I keep each type on a page (I don't bother with the computer as it is portable this way for me..). I keep lists of colors, so if I need a color stain, spray, ink, reinker, ink pad etc, I know if I have it. Each medium is on a lazy susan in my room so they are easy to see and look at.

I don't keep a list of all my stamps..I just have them seperated out by theme, and company. Too many to list..(shhhh..don't tell that line to hubby..)

3 ring binders of stamped images by categories. 2 small binders; 1 with alpha index of patterned papers by companies and the 2nd with everything else: inks, markers, pencils, punches, embossing folders, dies, gems, flowers, etc. Nothing gets put away until it's been listed or stamped. The non-stamp binders are small enough to take with me when I'm shopping. When something is used up or thrown out, it's crossed off or added to my shopping list. I've done this for over 10 years now; it started when I bought several stamps more than once and since I do most of my shopping online I just take the binder to my computer to double check what I already have.

OOh, OOH, I have an iPad and I got an application called "My Stuff". I categorized everything, took photos of each item and loaded it into the iPad. I take it everywhere! No duplicates for me!!! I can even track what & to whom I've lent something too.

After the initial load - it's easy to keep up with.

I also have a shopping list app - if it isn't on the list - I don't buy it!

Default My stuff

Hi this is the first time, I've posted anything. I'm interested in finding out more about My Stuff
What all do you record on it? Is it hard to set up?
Thanks

I wonder if there is a comparable application for a droid tablet. I am going to have to check that out.

I have been inputting all my stash in Bento which is a database program for Mac, iPhone and iPad. It will sync the info across all three, which is great because I only carry my iPhone when shopping. I have been busy putting in all my dies, embossing folders, and am now started on inks. I have 235 records so far, all with photos. Within the main craft inventory database I also can view subsets, so I can view all my Ranger products, or all my dies, or just Spellbinders, etc. I wanted a database 20 years ago but only recently has technology enabled me to have it all at my fingertips on the go.

I am kind of dreading the inputting of the stamps, though... That's my biggest collection....

If you find one please post. I have an ipod touch but I'd prefer to use my phone.

There's also two apps that I have on my iPhone (that I have only played around with) - they're essentially the same but one is prettier. Scrapbooker, and FabricStash. Both allow you to upload a pic of the item, and a bunch of details about it. It's a good way to categorize your stash.

I am going to do a stamp index and I have a color swatch ring for my SU papers - mostly because I have a ton of retired stuff and it is easier to match with non SU patterned papers. I can't imagine cataloging everything else though! I feel like I don't have enough to need to keep track that way, but also like I have to much to go to all that work! Lol. You ladies are amazingly organized!
