Default Storage for Thick Lace

Hi,
I have alot of thick lace 7yrs, 10 yrs, 15yrs. How do you store them? I was going to un winding them but they are way to thick to fit on my mat board. I am using Amazing Grace Ribbon Idea. JUST LOVE IT! Can some one help me.

Thanks.:p

Sorry, I can't help, but I'm curious what the Amazing Grace Ribbon Idea is.

I liked her idea, too, but I didn't want creases in my ribbons, so I wound them on a bamboo skewer. I cut it the same width as each "spool" of ribbon and glued two cardboard circles on either side like a mini spool. You could do this for your lace, I did for some of mine, and then just lay them on their side along with your other ribbon.

Probably not the prettiest of ways, but I wind my lace around my hand in a "hanklike" fashion. Then I put it in plastic zipper sandwich bags.

Just had a look around. Is this what you mean?

I'm guessing the problem is that the finished roll doesn't fit with the others.

To overcome a thicker ribbon, how about cutting the 'bobbin' a little narrower so the lace will still fit under the edge of the drawer when wound?

And if the ribbons are too wide maybe make a drawer with only two or three rows of bobbins, instead of four? Or if you don't have enough for a whole drawer of wide bobbins, make one wide row and 2 normal sized.

I have some (ok alot ) of vintage lace, some i have a lot of yardage of and some is very very wide... and those laces would never fit into those kinds of storage so, i have would it around my hand it it was slim enough and or if it was on an very large card just tucked those things into baskets with ( I have old towels as dust catchers in my space) so these baskets are on top of closed storage boxes that stack with the towels on top, ( all the open baskets have towels then i just toss them in the wash) its not "pretty" but it works for me. (these are in the closet, if i dont want to see them i close the door but it stays open most of the time because I usually only have room on the table for one box or basket to be out and open so i walk back and forth a lot.
