I don't know if this is the right place to ask, if not (re)move please. Can't help it, I'm dutch ;)
I just received my SN markers YAY, and I have 2 bags with them to store them in, but I thought I've read somewhere to store them horizontally (?) But laying them down in the bags is not a great way to pick the right colors. How do you store your SN markers?
Another question. I've bought the 12 sets of 6 together so I have 72 markers, but I don't have the skintones yet and the 4 packets of 24 (will be the next purchase) which colors I can use best for coloring skin?
My suggestion would be to look for a stampin up marker holder (used). It is designed for that purpose but can only be obtained when you purchase all of their markers at once.
The Spectrum Noir do not fit in most of th marker storage units on the market...The square top is just a hair too big for the lighting grid we use also...The company that makes the storage units that has ads here on SCS has a Copic marker storage unit that will hold them and I asked Crofters Companion about selling empty boxes like the new 24 packs come in...
They really need to come up with something to hold them where they are not in a pile, in a bag or just laying around! I need neat storage where I can keep my colors in order...

thank you all so much. Right at this moment my man is making 168 holes in triplex to hold my markers. He's the sweetest! And it only cost €11 =) I'm a happy camper!
As a newbie, I didn't know what SN stood for and am unfamiliar with these markers. I'm glad others had suggestions for you as well. Good to know there is plenty of help out there when you have a question or issue.
How I organize mine is a little complicated but it works for me. I have a mix of SN and another marker and I grouped my SN's by family then mingled the other brand in (I guess that would make the "in-laws"? anyway...) I created my chart, colored it with the markers and rubber banded the markers in groups to keep like colors together in the bag, I started out with groups of 6, then 8. It's so much easier to look at a chart then just grab the "pack" that the color you need is in. I store them in a bag I got from Michaels (just like the one a Jo's here but with dividers inside the bag).
This works great for me because I don't have a lot of desktop and can move the bag to a shelf when I'm not using them.
As far as storing the markers horizontally, I've heard differing opinions on both ways so I'm going to say it's your choice.

Ooh, I just realized you added this.... I'm curious, please share a photo!
I will ask, are you seriously interested? LOL that would be a feather in the ... for him =D it's really easy to make, and so cheap! it's 30 cm in width
, 12 cm deep and 50 cm in heigth so it's not that big either.
Yes, I'm seriously interested, I have about 200 SN and prisma markers and plan to get the remaining SN's that I don't have because my current system won't work if I have more than I have now. I really would like to get the last 2 24 sets.
I saw this on YouTube for the SN markers. They saved the plastic part of the packaging and used them as trays in the slim cases. I think it works great and doesn't need desk or counter space, of which I have none.
In August, I took the leap to alcohol markers, and bought all 12 of the 6 pen sets. I'm working on getting the last 4 packs of 24 from my husband for Christmas, but he doesn't know it yet. ;)
Storage: I also bought the 2 storage cases - but after realizing the markers would just bunch up, I cut down the backs of the packaging (cardboard) and cut it to fit, so each set of 6 markers are together, nicely separated and still organized in their sets. They look like levels, stacked on each other if that helps.
He just finished it, and I bought the 4 packs of 24 too, so I have them all now teehee!!
I'm soooooooo so happy!!
Wow that was really sweet of him to make that for you! It's Really nice!! My husband was very helpful recently too in helping with assembling a work counter for my Arts and Crafts. He knows what makes me happy! Please let us know what you think of markers. I wanted to try some but heard caps were hard to remove and I was concerned because of pain I get in hands sometimes.
Have fun with your markers!
Paige
Spectrum Noir now has the most wonderful acrylic storage system that will fit any sized markers we have! They can fit together in a couple of different pattens and look terrific!...Mine is due any day from www.7kids collegefund.com

I have seen those. Looks really nice. Pricey though. :(
I purchased the SN storage cases for my markers. I sorted my markers by color and cut down pieces of plastic canvas to use as row dividers so that the markers stay organized. I purchased 5 of the cases and left room for the additional markers that I need to complete my set (one set of 24 is all I need). I cut the plastic canvas the width of the case and about an inch and a half shorter than the markers.
I'm looking for some type of basket or box that will hold the cases -- so far no luck.

Sounds good. Don't forget to store them Horizontal.
I think Plastic Canvas is a great invention. It almost ranks up there with Duct Tape! lol ( I said almost haha) ;) Have fun with your markers!
I have the new Spectrum Noir marker storage system and I can not tell you enough how wonderful it is! I figured if I invested in the markers, I need to invest in the storage so they are taken care of...I love it!
