I just recieved an e-mail from a crafting company over here, and they ask crafters to send in tips to share. I loved this idea for storing markers, and I think I shall be giving it a go when I have stored up enough tubes.
'We all know that Promarkers or any double tipped pens should be stored flat to keep the colour evenly distributed. Here is a useful tip to keep them tidy, ready to hand and sorted into colours/shades. I have a shoe box, but any sturdy box roughly the depth of a toilet roll inner tube will do. Fit the tubes into the box honeycomb fashion, a dab of glue between will hold them together, then stand the box on its side. You now have plenty of storage for your Promarkers; they stand out just sufficiently proud for you to see the colour on the side. I also store my Sakura pens, colouring pencils and embossing tools in this manner.'
That is a good idea...I ended up purchasing a wine bottle holder and then at the dollar store picked up the containers (usuallyl they have them in the spring and summer)..they are straw holders with lids that open, and I just slip them in the wine holder like i would a bottle of wine...works great also....

I love this idea. I knew there was a reason I kept those shoe boxes. Unfortunately I wish I would have seen this before I purchased the marker holder from CTMH. That hold will store 72 markers. I could probably still use the shoebox idea for Copics - if I ever decide to buy them.

This is how I store my copics...this photo was before I had a scrapping room...but I still use this Quickutz Magpie storage...just sitting on my ledge above the desk.
A spinoff of the wine bottle holder -- I cut large mailing tubes down to size, covered the outside with patterned paper and put them in my wine bottle holder. I've also got a smaller one (only holds 3 bottles) that I use for my markers and I used plastic glasses in it. The larger one I use to store rulers, etc. in.
I won't have mine until Christmas morning (Copics, too ;-) ), but what I asked for is in this blog. I've searched and searched the internet over and, for me, this looks like my best bet.

Just had a look at this- love it. If they are discontinued there may be an alternative. Looking at these, I was reminded of the boxes that drinking straws come in. If you cut two sheets of acetate to fit corner to corner, the put a split from the top to halfway down, in the centre, so they form an 'X' shape when slotted together, then slid them into the drinking straw box, you would have exactly the same thing.
And yes, I do always look at something and think' How can I do that cheaply, lol.

I have one of these for my copics also. They are just the right depth. You can actually get them at an office supply store such as Staples or Office Depot.
The "X'd" boxes weren't enough storage for me. I have all of the Copics so needed more space.
I went to the Container Store and purchased their acrylic boxes. I have the markers in those. Each color has it's own box except the browns. I had to get 2 boxes for the browns. I have the lids for the boxes in my closet. I was going to use those for something else, but if I need to take my markers I need the lids.

I used to have all my Copics stored in a flat box but have reorganised and have a new storage system now which I am really happy with. I bought some sets of storage drawers (small ones for storing screws, nails etc) from a hardware store and I used them to store button, small die cuts etc. I decided to take the drawers out and I made laminated cardstock "shelves" to fit in the bottom where each drawer sat and now I store my Copics in there.
I'm now storing my Copics in the container my husband made from a length of PVC tubing. He cut the tube into equal lengths and glued them together. As you can see, I've got more storage space than Copics, but I can fix that!

I think I may have to do that as well. Do you know what diameter pipe he used?
Lattix.........what is the height and width of the PVC pipes that your hubby connected for you? I'm just debating if these would fit into a certain bucket for traveling with Copics. thank you

Nayttap, PVC pipe comes in many different diameters. We used a 4-inch diameter pipe cut into 6.5-inch lengths. I bet you can find just the right diameter to fit your bucket. Good luck!
lattix.........I understand PVC pipe sizes...I'm just trying to figure out if I want to use all 4" or make the middle row smaller widths for those colors of which I have fewer markers. I can pretty well figure the width of the pipes together, but how high do the three rows stand?

Hi, nayttap: The 3 rows stand 12 inches high. Each row is 4 inches high.
