Default show me your desktop storage......

I'm in the process of designing a new scrap room / home office and absolutely need things organized and looking tidy. Looking for ideas to keep the everyday tools close at hand but not something too big. Looking for something smaller than the white spin around one sold at M's...any suggestions ..... thanks

No pics to share but what I do is use a lazy susan and use a combination of pretty containers to contain things. I like old pretty things so I use a collection of white art pottery. I've also gotten some great containers at IKEA. I also have one of those three tier metal basket thingies. I also put it on top of a lazy susan to allow it to spin. You could use a smaller lazy susan with slender jars or use tiered storage on it to allow you to go vertical but keeping the footprint small. Good luck!

Head to the internet (or Pinterest specifically) and type in tin can storage. There are adorable ideas for cluster of cans decorated and attached together for storage or mounted to the wall. Awesome!

I've seen the tin can storage idea, they are adorable when you Mod Podge with paper and I've thought about doing this. This setup is really neat and I could have this filled with stuff in no time: "How to Organize Your Tools"

My favorite is my desk organizer carousel that I got from Staples for $5. I originally liked the one from Michaels but it's so big it would take up most of my desk.

First time for me to attach a picture, but I have this on my craft table. The tubes are heat resistant and one is large enough to hold the heat tool.

I have three of the organizers from Staples on my desk. I love them. I always buy them when they have them on sale for $5.

On Staples web site, they are Item #806950. There is a picture so you can at least see what they look like. My local store's regular price is $9.99, but they run them frequently for $5.00.

The staples one looks interesting and the price is definitely good. I needed one with deeper compartments (KWIM?) so I got one from Pampered Chef and it was about $20. Let me see if I can attach a pic:

too! When we moved into our new house, the caddy didn't work for me in my new kitchen, but it's FABULOUS on my craft desk.

The Pampered Chef caddy is stampable, too! I'd seen a post where someone had stamped theirs with chalk inks and gently heat set the ink. Tried it myself and it worked beautifully - functional AND decorative!

I found a silverware caddy at a yard sale. It's the stand up kind you'd see at a picnic, with 3 squares on one side and one rectangle for napkins on the other. It's white and painted with flowers so it's pretty and it only cost $1.

I like the pegboard idea. We're moving next week and I'm not sure what my stamping space will be, so I might be getting one of those as well.

Thanks for the link-Love that website! She gives lots of good DIY ideas!! But I don't have wall space in front of my desk since it faces a bank of windows. I opted for the typical white tool organizers Michael's sells

purchased when they were 60% off (some one day special a year or so ago) and then bought a similar one at HL when they ran their 50%. So while I didn't DIY anything, I did save some bucks only spending $20 on each.

Know that you mentioned desktop space being a concern w/anything you use, but I finally justified buying a Desktop Apprentice at Staples. Bought mine at a reduced price as someone had returned theirs and the box was all torn up:

Staples® The Desk Apprentice™ Rotating Desk Organizer | Staples®

I increased the storage space it offers even more by using s-hooks to attack rectangular shallow metal mesh 'baskets' from Target onto 2 of the outer compartments. Big tho it may be, it keeps a ton of my oft-used stuff close at hand.

In addition to organizers for tools and adhesives, I have a metal mesh file basket on my desk, too. It fits 12x12 paper. I found keeping my white, vanilla, and crumb cake right there was a time saver. Plus I put my current DSP in it and I find I use more of it having it out. Just so happened both my score boards fit as well so I can keep them handy without taking up counter space.

Do you have any idea what brand name it is or where you got it?

Gosh I sure wish I did. I am thinking it was actually a Joann's find but it was with the dorm stuff they had a couple of years ago, not made for SB paper but it is perfect.

I use the Pampered Chef tool caddy as well and have three of them, all yard sale finds. Don't be put off, if they are dirty ! They snap apart and will go through the dishwasher on the bottom rack. Just got one for my grandaugher, it was not a pretty sight, and it had to be hand washed first, but only paid $2.00 for it ! My prismas in one, with brayers and water brush in the top section. Scissors and misc. in one and a small heat gun in the top hole. #3 has all the other "stuff" paint brushes etc.
