1. Dust accumulates on the spools.
2. When 1 spool runs out, I have to remove all of them to remove/replace just that one, which becomes a pain in the tush.
3. The weight of the spools is becoming too much and the rods are starting to bend.
4. I no longer have room to add additional ribbon.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know of a company or alternative way to store all my ribbon? I have to admit, that I have quite a bit, as ribbon IS one of my weaknesses!

Thanks for your help!!
Maggie
Maggie, I have tried a few different things, looked at a million types of ways to hang or store ribbon, etc... but found what really works for me (at the moment...lol) is how I use ribbon... I also found having it out, it got dusty because I only use alot of one kind at a time, or I would have to gab two rolls of the same to go to a workshop, etc... and the rest would just be out hanging around.... if I used those clear drawers, they became a jumble mess.... I was lucky enough my hubby found a great deal on a cabinet a golf shop was getting rid of for newer cabinets... it's counter height and has four drawers with storage underneath... In one of the drawers, I got some of those different widths drawer divider plastic baskets. The Ribbon rolls stand up in them very nicely. You just open the drawer, see what ribbon you need. They stay clean and out of the sunlight. My room is very sunny and cardstock left on the counter with something on part of it, would leave a mark in no time.... so I knew I didn't want my ribbon on the wall as much as I LOVE Nicole's Ribbon Storage that Fionna mentioned, I just don't use up ribbon that much or fast and it would be sunbleached.....

So mine is like a rack in a drawer...

Following the main link gives me images of various people, and several of the images on the first page are not stampin' SPACES.

Now when I see a post about a new stampin' makeover, there is no more images.

Stampin Gala posted about her new craft room, but no more images. Clicking onto her name and looking at her gallery, there is no images of a craft room. Where are they?

This was easy, threaded, able to search forums for specific ideas you once saw and was looking for again.

Unhappy and find this useless now.
I agree that it's becoming really complicated to navigate and post here =( It's really bad because I really love this site! There are so many great ideas and talented individuals! =)

There is still the same Stampin' Spaces gallery that there always was. As I understand it, this thread is to bring those posts to the attention of those of us who frequent the organization forum.

Here's the link to the Stampin' Spaces gallery:
Stampin’ Spaces Gallery: Craft Rooms, Rubber Stamp Storage & More - Page - Splitcoaststampers

To get to it from the main gallery page you would scroll down to "special collections" and on the menu for that page, select Stampin' Spaces.

Hope that helps you find the gallery...

I have finally gotten my new craft room mostly set up - not totally organized, but I think that is always going to be an ongoing project! I am loving it now that I have it set up though, and thank you to so many here who posted such great ideas! Here are some pics:

These craft spaces are gorgeous - love Joan's! My craft area is dual-use as a guest room, too. When I scrapbook, I spread out onto the bed!

I will never stop organizing. There are so many fab ideas on this forum for workspaces, I love to see what other people have done!

I just posted on my blog about how I calmed down the visual clutter in my stamp room. I will post photos in my SCS gallery next week when I get back from a business trip. By the way - any drawers I could not decide on a label for got called "Collage" - a new euphemism for junk drawer! I think I ended up with three or four of those collage drawers! There was some empty space on my wall - couldn't leave it like that when I saw the cable organizer at IKEA:

Wall storage by TMaja - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

I have noticed that although you can easily hang things on the round parts at the bottom this is not as easy with the opposite. The S hooks would always slide to the side, but maybe I can find lips, or use clothespegs. The narrower inner parts are ok for hooks though.

I've been enjoying looking at everyone's work spaces, they are really great and some great ideas for storage too. I'm just revamping mine after ten years, I can't believe I started with one little box, as I think we all do.
I'm lucky that my DH had a little room built for me on our solarium when we first moved here but at the time ikea hadn't arrived in Spain so I had to buy some old fashioned Spanish furniture, I also had a bed settee in there but after only using it half a dozen times my DH suggested that we sent it to the charity shop and replaced it with some drawers to give me more storage.
Well that was how it started, we've already had two trips to ikea, an hour each way and I had to sit crunched up all the way home as I decided I wanted a wardrobe to store winter clothes in as well as two chests, well the packs were so long it only just fit in the car, nearly proved my DH wrong as he says that any thing ikea sell can fit it a Volvo!! We also had to unpack the boxes in the back of the car as they were too heavy to carry up all the stairs.
Well when we had finally built the wardrobe and two chests my lovely DH suggested that I get rid of the sideboard and tall cupboard too, hence the second trip, anyway after moving things around we are having another trip on Monday to buy some bookshelves and another chest.
I'm so pleased with how it's beginning to look even though I've kept my old desk and unit, which don't match, just can't believe how much storage room I have, I been having a great time finding new spaces for all my crafty bits, I'll post a photo when it's finished.

I'm having IKEA Withdrawal. Haven't been in a while. Other than 1 storage piece from Christmas tree shops, everything else in my craft room is IKEA. You can't go wrong.

I've been giving away my old furniture to a charity shop, our friend who works there says we are giving away quality furniture and replacing with cheap stuff, that is true but it looks so more modern and clean, can't wait to get the rest tomorrow to finish off and get everything tidied away.

Jan31, I can understand what she's saying, and it is true, what we're buying from IKEA will only last a few years, not lifetimes, BUT, it meets our storage needs far better than the older furniture, which was not designed for modern life.I adore old wooden furniture- the styles, and the feel of 'real wood',but they are so totally impractical in modern homes with modern needs. I am definitely one who dislikes our throwaway age- I can remember when a table, for instance, was made to not only last your lifetime, but be passed down to other generations.Televisions, white goods etc were bought with the expectation they would give many years of service, not just last until the next 'must have' came along, lol. Sign of the times, I suppose.

Here´s a photo of my craft room, still a bit to do but its nearly there. I am so pleased with it now as I finally have a place for everything.
I did keep the old desk and kitchen drawer but they have plenty of drawer space and were expensive to buy so I didn't want to throw them out, Ive kept them on the left, at least that way it looks like most things match.
I still have a few boxes to unpack, or dispose of as its mainly projects started and discarded!!
Its been pretty hard work with having to unpack the boxes in the car and carry the parts up the stairs but its been worth it.

Almost there by jan31 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

Off to have a play.

Please accept my apologies as I did not go through this entire thread to find some answers to my upcoming dilemma!

I am moving next week and want to have my new art studio better organized that it was in my current apartment. The key word here is "apartment." I am going to be renting a condo so I cannot install anything permanent. I have looked through the stamp room gallery here on SCS and have gotten an idea of the table I want.

Does anyone have any ideas for, or pictures of, or links to studios in rented spaces?

Here's my tiny craft area. It works well for me since I have everything put away in a certain place. I can't think if I'm surrounded by a lot of clutter! I don't scrapbook, so I don't need a lot of space. For large projects for holidays I move the sewing machine and then I have a larger space to spread out.

I have plans to move the sewing machine table to the other end of the room-currently a storage area-and get my dad's old desk out of storage. I bought the 6 drawer units, paper holders, marker holder and the Lucite stamp holder, but everything else is what I already had, including the shelves, my mother's old typewriter table and a storage unit from my childhood.

Edited 1/23-just figured out how to upload a pic!

I'm with you on the 'throw-away' age. Bring back Emmit the fix -it guy from Andy Griffith!

Here is a picture of the iron I use a lot. It's heavy and it's old. How old? I learned how to iron with this when I was 10 and used it every Saturday growing up. So we're talking over 40 years.

I have a 'newer' one - probably from the 80s that is lighter weight but doesn't do near the job.

Robin, I would look at upcycling thrift store furniture pieces or using things like Iris Carts. Most shelving units (like the 5-shelf book cases at WM) are deep enough to hold the plastic shoe boxes. That is how I store all of my fat quarter fabrics in the sewing room.

I'm packing mine all up for storage and some to take with me to our temp home I'm excited to get to make a new room but I liked my current room and would rather stamps than paint and do all that. Have fun stamping for me ladies! I'll be stamping out of plastic bins for a while. Have I mentioned I hate moving???

Keep your eye on the prizes, Mindy! Stampin' out of plastic boxes will give way to a brand new stampin' zone & lots more welcome wonders before too long!
