Default Organizing Washi Tape

I was getting quite a collection of washi tape and needed to get it organized. I used a pants hanger, the kind that has 3 bars that are hinged. Slid the rolls on the bars and hung it on the back of my craft room door. Now I can find the tape that I am looking for very quickly.

Clever! I haven't jumped on the washi bandwagon (yet, anyway), but I can still appreciate a good idea when I see one - thanks for sharing!

Ok, I don't use washi tape either. What do you use it for - or how do you use it?

I use empty waxed paper boxes. Remove the metal cutting strip and the rolls fit perfectly.

Wouldn't the metal cutting strip help? Or not?

The tape tears easily and I take it out of the box to use. The cutting strip was just in the way.

I've seen it used to hold dies in place when cutting but I haven't seen or heard of any other uses...are there any other uses?

You can use it just like patterned paper. Or in place of a ribbon. Anyplace you want a strip of pattern or color. You can place several strips side by side to create a background.

A lot of scrapbookers are using it in their layouts, sometimes to secure a photo; gives the page kind of a shabby chic or graphic look, depending on the color or pattern of the washi tape. You can also write or stamp on it (with a permanent marker or an ink like Stazon).

I love Snapware!

(I only have about 8 rolls of washi tape, though. )

Default tape

I saw a video by a young man named Drew on Youtube and he stores his washi tape in a clear taklebox (fishing) and he has it sorted by color etc, and what is good is it is portable if you need to take it to crops or functions.

I found a blog today that's all about washi tape and what to do with it. This post shows using a cup holder as a washi tape organizer. I think I'll try this.
Mug Rack Turned Washi Tape Holder on bloglovin

I do have my ribbon on the pants hanger that someone above mentioned, but I have lots more ribbon than washi tape, so the cup holder would be enough for my washi tape.

HTH.

Or...LOL...I just went out to eBay and I had not thought about something like this:

Fox Run Expanding Coffee Mug Cup Kitchen Wall Rack Organizer Storage Holder Bee | eBay

I might want that instead because I can free up flat table/counter space by mounting it to a wall and I could put my other tape on there as well (i.e. sookwang, redliner...)

Decisions, decisions...

I use empty round Crystal Light containers. I store them by color family and put a strip of tape on the top and bottom of the container. That way I know which color family is in that container. Works great!

To make everyone feel better - does having all the rolls in the same zip lock bag count?

LOL ziploc bags totally counts! I keep all of mine in a Recollections photo storage box. They were dirt cheap a few weeks back and I use those boxes to store pretty much all of my craft stuff, but I would LOVE to have the actual washi storage piece! I have about 25 rolls of washi and counting and I've done jars into kitschy vases, photo frames, cards and even decorated my keyboard--love me some washi!

Has anyone made a prom dress out of washi tape yet? If it can be done with duct tape, why not washi tape?

I use corn on the cob dishes. Rolls fit perfectly and you can stack them on the shelf.

LOL! Darn, with some of the washi I have that would be one cute dress!

BUT you know, washi doesn't stick like duct tape does.

Washi duct tape -- there's a need!

I wonder why they are on clearance already. I bought them not too long ago at 60% off and paid $5.99 for a set of two. Of course, I had to buy several sets of two...

Hi Novell!! I don't think they were on clearance....just a sale. Someone posted that M's had 60% off all storage items including jetmax a couple weeks ago, I think. I missed that sale, but I was able to get the Washi storage for 40% off plus I had a 15% off coupon including sale items.

I had a 4 post Carousel extra and used it, they aren't all tight fitting and in order of ROY G Biv like my other goodies, but they are by size!

I don't have that large a collection of washi tape and haven't used it. Well, I did use it on my sewing machine.

DH got me a mini sewing machine for Christmas, I plan to use it for making cards and layouts. Haven't gotten around to that yet. But the reason I used the washi tape was because someone came over to help me understand how to use my sewing machine and I sewed a pillow. I found out while sewing that my machine didn't have a straight edge to help keep the sewing in place. So I put the washi tape down to use for my straight edge marker.

The pant hanger idea I use for my ribbons. At least my flat ones and the ones too big for my ribbon carousel that I got at Hobby Lobby. Plus, I use it for my gift wrap center too.

I'm fortunate that we have two guest rooms being used as offices for me and DH in my house. And they both have small walk-in closets. My office closet is where I keep my cardstock, patterned paper, ribbon, gift wrap, and shipping boxes.

I just purchased my first few rolls of washi tape; and was checking pinterest for ideas to use it. I came across this posting of a jar organizer:
craft room organization / Kilner Storage Jars filled with flowers, buttons and washi tape using Crafty Organization stamp set.

or maybe for a large collection, a spaghetti clear container. It's nice to be able to view the collection.

Someone mentioned out in Blogland which I thought was clever, was to use one of those wooden thread spool holders. I've seen the small and large ones at Walmart. The large ones hold about 48 spool of thread, but you can stack the tape.... that would be a lot of tape on those holders.....lol..lol Anyway, that's what this gal was using.....
