I found a nice utensil caddy at Target for 1/2 price - I lay it down to store, stand it up when coloring. More than one caddy could house color families. See it here: Organization / Stampin' Write Marker Storage

I hot-glued a bunch of toilet paper tubes together to make a "wall" that fits perfectly in my shelf space. Each tube holds 6 markers, and I can add on as I need to. It works for now.

I found a storage solution and it was quick and easy to make. This will only work for Copics. I have some Spectrum Noir Markers and they are too fat for the squares in the lighting grid. Here is a link to the site I have saved on Pinterest.
Here is a picture.
I found the really useful box at Office Depot for 11 dollars. The suspended lighting grid at Lowes for around 10 dollars. I have enough grid to make another box. (It comes as one big panel) Cut the size for the box with a hacksaw and hot glued grid in the box. One on the bottom and one at the top.
Some people say their markers don't fit well but I found if you turn them slightly and put the marker in the box with the chisel end down, you will have no problem getting them in and out.

I saw this at my LSS for about $20, and I'm thinking it looks perfect. I need to be able to store mine away OR get them out when I need.

My husband made this for me recently and I just love it. It was inexpensive and feels sturdy. Mine is painted purple.

All,
I have the full set of SN and have tried several storage options. First I tried the layers of Snap-n-Store, but when coloring I had to lay out all three trays and it was hard to find the colors I wanted.

Then, I bought about 6 of the CC black zipper pouches. In at least three of them the zipper immediately broke, before I was putting markers in, right out of the package. While CC did replace them, 1 of the new ones broke. These are not going to stand up to use and since I can't see through them I have to open pouch after pouch to get what I'm looking for. I can put labels on the pouches, but there's value to being able to see all the colors.

Finally, I bought an ArtBin deep box with the dividers and for the moment, this seems like the best option. It fits all my markers with ample space left. I put all the markers on a single side of the case, divided it up and tried to group similar colors together and fill up each section. If you don't fill up the section, the marker slide all around and it's a mess. On the empty side I store my distress markers (too tall for regular storage), and the color charts from SN, TH, etc. If I were going to a crop, they'd be room for some ink pad or refill bottles.

If you have an AC Moore, the ArtBin box is on sale for $15; it's 50% off without a coupon or you can use a 50% coupon elsewhere.
Hope this helps,
Mob

I thought it had little clips to hold the dividers in so they didn't slide around? I want mine to be sturdy.

The dividers are pretty secure within the box, but if you don't fill up space within tightly, then the markers will fall over and slide down within their own space. One goes down and others follow.

This is my favorite idea. But you're right. The ceiling panel grid holes are too small for either shape of Spectrum Noir pens. Went to Home Depot yesterday with mine. There has got to be a plastic grid that has bigger holes. If anyone finds one, let us know. I will do the same. I just got my 168 markers yesterday and am excited to set them up where they're easily accessible, and that travel well.

I bought this storage box at Wal-Mart for $7...I had the grid from another project...You can get it at Home Depot or Lowe's...You can cut it with kitchen sheers or tin snips...A piece of grid about and inch off the bottom and another piece about 2 inches from the top...

I love these, but one small container using two of the pen dividers won't hold all 168. So you have to buy the large container and 4 dividers. Then you end up with about 70+ empty spots. I'm wondering if the dividers will fit into a different box that will hold just 3 of them.

I found a large beauty case that holds the entire collection.

http://www.evernote.com/shard/s279/s...a9c27a8eea6f65

I put some cardboard dividers to make it easier to keep the colours roughly contained in an area.

I store it on its side and leave it open on my desk on its side but can carry it between places if I need.

That's a really nice case. However, I was referring to finding a case that fits just 3 of those Art Bin inserts, rather than 2 or 4.

Although not very inexpensive I use the Marker Bin from Artbin and I LOVE it! I mostly have Spectrum Noir and it's perfect for them and the new SU Blendabilities markers fit it too.

Art Bin only makes cases that fit 2 or 4. I would like to find something that fits all 168 markers nice and neatly in one case, with no left over space. Like the idea for the Copics markers where they use a ceiling light grid. But the holes in those are only 15mm. Spectrum Noir and SU Blendabilites are about 11/16" so they do not fit.

I found someone who used an egg crate grid for a coi pond. Those are 18mm openings. Perfect for SN and SU. But do you think I can find them anywhere in a store, in the US? And Ebay seems to only have them available in the UK.

The woman who came up with the idea is also in the UK. Here is a link to her tutorial, if anyone is interested. Maybe someone here can find them in one of our national stores and let the rest of us know. I will post it if I find one as well. Pop's Cards: Pen Storage

These guys appear to distribute it

Try searching for eggcrate louver/s, lighting/aquaculture, 11/16

I found by putting in the 11/16 I got more US sites and less UK and Australia

Sure looks like you found it. But I gave up today and bought the Artbin container that fits 4 of their marker trays, but only bought 3 trays since that's all I need. But for the rest of you, I'm glad someone was able to find it. Now the question is, how much do they charge?

Typical that I would see your post after you caved in and got the ArtBin.

And yes, I was wondering about cost too. Not really relevant to me, I'm in Australia.

I believe that for you, it'll be cheap. The woman who gave me the information says they sell them in hardware stores there, wherever they sell fish pond equipment.

I put all of my markers in the ArtBin last night. It works good. But I would've liked it better if it was something that fit JUST the 168 markers, and nothing else. However, I suppose there's always the chance that SN will add more colors to their palette. So now I have room for 72 more. 12 spaces left in 1 of the 3 I purchased, and room for another tray which holds 60.

I love my artbin! I have every set of spectrums that acmoore sells, but not 168. So I have room if I get any of the alcohol markers su is supposed to be coming out with! The artbin stands on its side so I can keep markers horizontal and the handle is then on top for easy carrying! I've taped a color chart on the inside of the lid.

That's what I did with mine too. It's sitting on my work space right in front of me, on its side. My friend told me that the lid comes off. But I havent tried that yet.

When I color, I lay it lengthwise with the lid open. That way I can see the chart and pens together. Mine is only the double but I don't think the lid comes off.
