Default Discontinued Ikea craft table, I want something similar.

They used to have a great table, it had the expedit cubbies on the ends. I would love to have one. My plan is to build one that is similar. When I say build I mean configure one using other pieces. I was planning on using 2 of the tall 8 cubbie expedit units on their side, but they are a bit too long for my room. I really wish Ikea made a 3x3 expedit unit, I know target has one but it is a little wimpy-er than Ikea's.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks,
Dina

Wow, that is a great site. I do love the table from pottery barn, the price not so much! The knock off is what I want. I just wish Ikea carried the 3x3 cube piece. Without the 3x3 cubes I need to come up with plan b.

Thank you for directing me to that thread.

Dina,

Have you looked into the ClosetMaid cubbies that Target carries? You would just have to buy the tabletop from Ikea.

You can strengthen the cubbies by attaching a sheet of plywood to the back with nails. Most home improvement stores will cut them to size.

I saw those in Target and thought exactly the same thing! They would work perfectly and Target sells the Cloth baskets for storage.

That would be alot less expensive and much faster than building it from plans!

Expedit does make a smaller unit. I just got it and DH has put wheels on it for me and is making a counter top for it. The unit is 31" W x 31" H x 15 1/2" D and it has 4 openings. The top we are adding is 20"W. The plan is that this uint will roll under a new counter that he is building for me and I think my Bigshot stuff will fit in it. I will post a picture of it when done. I'm pretty excited about it and can hardly wait. But, it all goes with a bigger project where my room is moving to the bigger spare bedroom. I've been gathering ideas from all of you for a while now. And I really appreciate all these organization posts and pictures you all have provided.
