Unmounted: now what do I do with all the blocks/boxes, haha
I finally did it..I have had the supplies for over a year now and finally had the guts(yes I admit it, haha) to unmount. I did it in a little over a week (and I work 40 hrs a week, woohoo) and I just love it. It has totallly given me so much more space in my craft room. I now have tons of blocks, boxes and the new su cd holder ones...what r u guys doing with them...My nephews are playing with the blcks but geeze, th is is overwhelming, haha..what did you guys do with your leftovers?
The boxes are so useful to store partially done projects or punched stock or a million things. I have a LOT more than I need, but I probably will not throw the boxes. the blocks are another story. I want to pitch them, but my wood worker husband saw them as they were on the way out the door and "oh! I could turn those great hard maple blocks on end and make a cutting board" which would be great, but there are so many projects ahead of that....good luck.
o Shannon that is funny about hubby...yes you are right about the boxes, but man there are soooooooooooo many, haha...and the blocks I just can't seem to toss them....help!!!
sell them in the BST section here on SCS...surprisingly for as many of us that have gone unmounted, there are just as many people out there mounting. I just post to send a Flat Rate box or envelope full of however many blocks will fit in the box/envie and charge via paypal. Within a day...they are sold.
People are also looking for the clam shell boxes.

I cut the lids off a bunch of the boxes - the size that background stamps come in. I use the lids to store unmounted wheel stamps. I just stand them up in a basket, and they're really easy to flip through to find the one I want.
I have sold a lot of the blocks on the BST forums here. They always go very quickly. I just charge the cost of postage for a flat rate priority box full. I only sell the blocks that have never had stamps mounted on them. The blocks that had stickers and adhesive on them, I just threw away.

Be Brave! Just toss them! But remember to get them past the DH!! It just occurred to me that it is the opposite of sneaking new toys into the house!!! Oh, the wicked web we weave! Good luck!
I gave some of my blocks to the school's Pre-K program to use as building blocks. I gave some to someone on SCS who wanted them. The rest I tossed because I couldn't think of what else to do with them.

I use some of the boxes to store reinkers & things like that. The rest I took to work & gave away. People with kids love them for crayons, little toy parts, etc... I still have the blocks. I might sand them down for building blocks & put letters/numbers on them. You could give them to schools/churches,etc...

If you stick some Velcro( hook & Loop tape) to them, you can make yourself some ink applicators for cut & dry foam,or for felt for alcohol inks etc
I'm always looking for extra blocks... I like to mount some of the sets with the design and wording on different blocks... soooooo if you have extras, I would pay for one of the flat rate boxes.....
You can use them for gifts. There is a poem aabout getting fit and this being an aid to fitness.
When the box is opened it says congratulations you have just "Walked around the BLOCK!" next step is to go out side and walk there. Makes great joke gifts and they sell.
I agree about giving the wooden blocks to a preschool. I am a special needs preschool teacher, and I am in the process of unmounting as well. I am going to take the blocks I have (not a lot, but a a few dozen) and use them as additions to our block platform. The kids will love them!
I've posted a request on BST for blocks and calmshell but nothing came of it. I'd pay to have them shipped to me. I can't buy anything like the clamshells or SU! unmounted storage cases here. As for the wooden block, I just ended up getting a piece of wood cut to size for me. I've got some unmounteds I dearly love to put onto blocks.
