I have drawers for my reinkers and store them by color. (Reinking doesn't happen often enough for me to keep them close at hand, and if I am using all reinkers for a project, I just go get what I need and bring it to my work table) I do not really care which color family they came from or come from now. I keep them up-right and in rows with a thin piece of wood (less than 1/4" thick) x about 1" high, cut just long enough to fit snugly into the drawer. This keeps them from falling over. I have a separate drawer for each type of ink--dye, pigment, alcohol, etc. Up until now I have had to lift each bottle in the green row to find the one I want, but am loving the idea of attaching a dot of the proper color to the cap. Now why didn't I think of that?
If you go to my gallery, look at the bottom row middle picture.
I made this my self. From the dollar store I bought the foam board.
Cut it to size to fit my needs.
2" D x 17" H x 22" W.
Used very thin dowl cut to size in front each selve so they will not drop out.
Hot glue and you are in business.

I found a rotating stamp pad holder on e-bay that has a a large hole for the reinker on one side of the stamp pad and a small hole for the markers on the other side. It has worked really well and holds sixty stamp pad.
I have mine stored in one of those blue tin boxes like what the punch kits SU carried come in. They stand up perfectly in there, but it's snug when the lid is closed so they don't tip over. I also use a hole punch on the coordinating color CS and stick it on the top of the lid of the re-inker.

Love the idea of the punched dots on the lids. This sounds like a "while watching TV/a movie" project. What do you stick the dot on with? Can just see 10 dots in the bottom of my storage drawer!
I bought 3 of the blue tins from SU and store my reinkers in one. I also use the color dots for quick id. My Martha Steward glitter is in another with the bottles upside down to see the colors. I like the visual window in the tins.
I labeled them on the side and stacked them together. I wish I had ordered more. What great minds. Cheers.
I find my Tim Holtz re-inkers are so hard to figure out how to store. I'd really like something portable for them.
Not sure how helpful this is as i know they stopped making them.. BUT
I managed to get hold of one of the tim holtz cropper hopper dabber tin cases.
This holds 35 of the 36 TH re-inkers if you remove the inner compartment divider bit and its portable..
I use the clear SU clamshell boxes. They stack well, take up little space and are transparent. You can get quite a few bottles in each one and label the ends of the boxes!
I use Univenture binder boxes. I put a strip of velco in the binder and a little strip of velcro on the back of the refil bottle so that when I stick the bottle to the velcro the label is to the front. I have a binder for each of the SU families. Works great for me.
I did a quick tutorial so you could see how this works.
i just realized the other day when i was ordering essential oils from young living that they sell these already cut out for oil storage. if anyone is looking for these without the work, let me know!
I keep mine in little sterilite drawers - I had one leak once when I used to keep them in a cardboard box and it ruined some papers underneath it, so I switched to plastic drawers where any leakage is safely contained
i went to walmart and target and looked at the drawers as thought this was the best solution for me, and our re-inkers are too tall for the drawers... anyone have a photo or a place to get drawers where the re-inkers will stand up? i use mine a lot for watercoloring, and prefer to have them easily accessable in drawers. right now i have them in a container that's annoying to get in and out of

I love this idea. I have several of these and I put all the retired ones in one box and all the surrent in another. Thanks for sharing.

I bought 3 small plastic boxes with snap on lids at Staples that are the right height and each holds about 20 reinkers. I keep them up on a shelf out of the way.
Inside a drawer I can fit 4 of these small white bins that are like 3 for $1 at WalMart or Target's dollar spot and use them to separate them by color families. I have my Stickles & Liquid Pearls in another drawer, embossing powders in another, glitter in another, etc. It is great for small bottles as they fit standing upright, and if you purchase two you can pop the top off of one and attach them, giving you a total of twelves drawers - this makes it easy for me to wheel around when vacuum or reorganize things in my craft room.

Ifound some storage racks at HL that the bottlesfit wonderfully in...I labeleach one andput it in there.....Duplicate reinkersgo in the really strong boxes from StaPles as described by poster above. I use many sizes of the RSB fromStaples. They are a UK product and I have many many of them for embellishments, reinkers, imageswaiting to be colored, postage stamps and address labels , seasonal themed items, and soforth.

I have a cute but funny little reinker storage container! I've never purchased many reinkers and after five years of stamping I now have seven bottles.
I just had them lined up on the shelf. I like vintage stuff and I had a little Fisher Price toy lunch box that is in the shape of a barn. It is from the 60's. It's only about six inches long and three inches wide. My inkers are in there...it's really cute and I have room for three more!

Sorry, the only link I could find was W-M. They sell these separately in different sizes, too - I have two square boxes.
I'll probably end up getting more for storing items in the kitchen -- flour, sugar, etc. They have a fabulous seal!! Which of course you don't need for reinkers, and to be honest the construction means that the lid is deep -- it goes 1/2" or so into the container.
That said, I love it for reinkers. I'll have to take a photo later for you but I put Memento and SU reinkers in one and they fit perfectly.
Now. . . for Distress Ink reinkers. . . that's another story. The bottles are too tall. To make a long story short, I pretty much took apart the lid. It doesn't seal now, it just sits on top, but I don't care!! :^) My Distress reinkers and stains fit inside it and stack on the other box.
I used to store my ribbon in clear ribbon boxes but I soon ran out of room. When I saw a tutorial on Amazing Paper Grace for storing ribbon I was stuck with all these boxes. I sold a couple...gave my daughter a couple and I use the one left for my re-inkers. It holds quite a few, has dividers and is compact and portable.

Cathy!! Your post reminded me of a ribbon storage box I got a couple of years ago to store my Rubber Stamp Tapestry peg stamps.
I checked it out and it will hold 27 Distress Ink reinkers -- just perfect!
It's called "Craft Mates" and here's a link to a photo at the WM site:

Has anyone heard of or used "ink refresher"? I read once that the ink really doesn't get used up but the pad dries out. You spray this on instead of reinking. I'm not sure if that's true but I've always wondered!

I've tried it. It kind of works. After the first use you get the same ink color but after repeated use you have a diluted color of the ink. I tried it with Marvy brush markers and it didn't work well at all.
There are techniques that use it with perfect pearls and it's great for that.
The bottom line is that you really need the refill to get best results.
I love your storage of the re-inkers. Can you tell me which size of "Really Useful Box" it is? I tried looking this weekend but couldn't find the right size to fit. thanks so much!!
So I have been reading and looking at how every one stores their reinkers and honestly there are some very neat ideas here.
I was tired of pulling out a drawer and having to go through every reinker I had so when one day my dh was down in my stamproom with me. I gave the drawer to him to look for a certain color. But was he having fun, yea right.
So one day he came home from work and said here try this out. He operates a laser machine and cuts acrylic, metal, stainless, etc. Well here is what he came up with. I absolutely love this he even went to the extreme of cutting the holes according to the diameter. Now hopefully I can attach a picture of it.
I have once again used a recycle box for a stamping storage device. I made my stamp pad holder out of USPS flat rate boxes, and now I have made my ink storage from a men Rockport Shoe Box.
I used this heavy duty box because it had such a great lid. I trimmed the box portion to match the height of the lid, then made 1" holes in what is the box part bottom. Put the lid on the box with holes, turned it upside down, made a chart and stuck my bottles in holes. **
Enjoy
Susan:rolleyes:
I use a Stack-On Multi Drawer Storage cabinet. I got the 18 drawer one and keep each color family per row. I store my re-inkers, sponges, and daubers all together. It keeps them all together and easy to access. I've used clear labels on a piece of cardstock of each color and punched them with the word window punch and then attached them to each drawer so I would know which color is in which drawer. LOVE IT!!
There's a row for each color family, plus one for the In-Colors and an extra 3 drawers for my "other" re-inkers and stuff.
Here's mine. I store mine in a box that a Sean John cologne set came in. It's just the right size to hold all of the old 48 core color reinkers and the new core colors that have been added. I keep all the classic in one and the pigment reinkers in the other half. I cut out the color charts from a mini and glued them on the outside of the box so I can locate colors quickly. I'm thinking of switching to alphabetical order from the color family system that I have them in since those color families no longer exist. The in color and neutral reinkers are kept in the skinny Scrapbox drawers.
I bought the 1.6 litre clear box at Staples. They call them Really Useful Box - go figure I have my Adirondack Re-inkers and my Distress Re-Inkers in it and they fit perfectly. There is even extra height room. I looked all over for something, but nothing was high enough except this box.
I love the brand Really Useful Boxes. They are out of the UK, but here's a link to Ofc Depot in the US. They have a lot of different sizes that work great for Stampy/Scrappy supplies.
Okay - while I love my storage, I still have to pull each bottle out to see what color it is. Anybody got a brilliant idea for marking on those teeny caps?
I use crop-a-dile, and punch a piece of cardstock using the largest size and then glue it to the top of the lid using wither tombow or crystal effects. I love using the CAD to make the circle since it comes out concave and is perfect for the lid shape.

Now that is super cool! I made my own dividers in a drawer to keep reinkers in rows. I had a lipstick holder that I discovered holds stickles upside down perfectly but haven't found another one like it.

I found a small plastic container called "Our Accessory Box" at The Container Store, that fits SU reinkers and similar sized ones. It easily holds 35 bottles in close quarters. They stack nicely, and only cost $1.79. The height of the container is so perfect, that if you have less than 35 bottles, even just one, when the lid is on, and the the box gets tilted, the bottle slides but does not tip over.
I just posted some pictures of other storage ideas on my gallery. Take a look if you like.
It's funny that you asked this question, because I was going to post my idea (not found here yet, I think), but haven't gussied it up yet enough for taking a photo!
I use the cream cheese box that I buy at Costco. It's called Raskas and is a long rectangular box. I only use the bottom, but the lid will fit if you wanted to decorate that too. First make a cheesecake, and then you'll have the box for free! It holds 30 reinkers perfectly and I'm going to decorate the outside with washi tape, it's on my to-do list!
