Default Organized Mess .. Help!

Hello Ladies!
I am in major need of help with organization (I am USUALLY a very organized person) BUT can't seem to figure out a way that works for me. So heres my issue... I stamp and scrap and try to keep the two seperated fine.
I have a ton of stickers and emeblishments.. and my understanding from what I've read that sorting by category (baby girl/boy, birthday, wedding, vacation etc) Is the best way to go.. but how? What do I put it in to keep them seperated. At the moment I have them in a stand up drawer and its a nightmare when I open it not to mention over flowing.
Please help! Anything would be appreciated.
Thanks
Andrea

I quite like clear files for organising this sort of thing, at the moment I have one for thickers and one for rub-ons; is quite good to keep everything tidy and you can just flip through the pages and see what you have. Also quite good for pesky chipboard letters - as long as you store the clear file vertically the clear pouch does a pretty good job of holding everything in there

I stamp and scrap and I keep everything together. Do you mean you try to keep the two hobbies and supplies separated? I know that would be impossible for me because I use all for both hobbies. Also, I have a huge list of organizational ideas. You can see them all here. Maybe you will find something there that will help!

This is an old picture- I am in the process of remodeling my craft room - but I hang most of my stickers up on a curtain rod with curtain hooks. I have things sorted in categories (as someoone else already suggested). I have some 12 X 12 boxes that I store items for specific albums that I am working on - some stickers are stored in there if I bought them for a specific thing.

If I am understanding you, you want to use a filing system for your stickers and other embelishments that can be filed. The only hitch is you want to separate your stash between stampin and scrappin...

If that is the case I guess you could set up 2 file systems or have 2 files for each category. One labled for each hobby. Those are the 2 ideas that come to mind.

I kinda agree with Patter. Keeping the 2 separate for me would be impossible. I do both as well and that sound to me like 2x the work and 2x the expense. BUt hey if it works for you then that is great. I hope this helps!

Thanks everyone!
I guess it was late when I was trying to create a thread! I meant that I keep my stamps/inks seperate! I to use a lot of the same things(embellishments/stickers/brads) for scrapbooking and stamping. This will be my project for the weekend a filing system is exactly what i need. Thanks again to all that responded!

I store my embellsihments in boxes from Harbor Freight. They have little boxes inside that I only use for brads. The other boxes in the picture here store items by category (asian, collage, baby/kids, etc).

I store stickers and rubons in plastic expandable envelopes. I have 3 and I put labels on the outside to tell me what is inside. I store by category (love, birthday, kids, babies, transportation, Christmas, etc.).

Here is what I went with. I have a filing system for anything flat. Stickers, rub ons, alphas, It doesn't matter to me. They are all in a file box sorted by theme. Buttons (with the exception of a handful) are stored in glass jars on a shelf. I like to look at my pretty buttons. They make me happy. I have a nuts and bolts storage system I got at Ace Hardware with 28 sm drawers and9 lg drawers. IN there I have rhinestones sorted by color and size in the sm drawers. Large drawers have my rims for my tag makerand some small odds and ends that I haven't really figured out where I'ld like them to go. Brads and eyelets are in a mini tackle sorter along with some book plates and pretty paper clips. I know it is alot of different things to go to to get what I need, but I"m currently working on what is the best way for me. I love my jars with buttons. I'm kinda thinking I should got a tackle box wiht the drawes that come out that are the little sorter cases. If that makes sense. It would be more portable, but I"m not too worried about that. This is what is working for me so far. I hope this was helpful!

All of my stickers and rubons (except alphas) are in file folders by category. When I'm working on a birthday card or scrapbook page, I pull out that folder and take it to my desk so I can easily go through all of my choices. All of my alpha stickers and rubons are kept in 2 boxes near my desk since I use them a lot, and my collection is huge and would be difficult to manage in a file folder.
