Hello-

What a great chart to share, thank you!

I have a quick question.....I am bit new to the whole printing and creating custom color charts, so I hope this makes sense.

I am using a Microsoft Windows based computer and programs. When I go into the custom color section of Word, or Publisher, it gives me the option to change the RGB.
I cannot seem to find the CMYK.

From what I read in this thread ant thought to understand, does the program automatically enter the CMYK, when you enter the RGB? Or are you referring to printer and not program specifics? If that is the case, then I would need to change options in my printer?

Oh all of these questions! Thanks in advance, for your time and effort.

Hi BlueInks,

CMKY is another form of code that accomplishes the same thing as the RGB. Some programs give you the option of entering the CMKY code, while others ask for the RGB code. So, if you know where to enter the RGB code you are all set.

Happy printing!

Red face Color Values Chart

Can I ask a "dumb" question? What is the chart used for and what do all of the #'s mean under the CMYK column mean? I have a HP printer that takes the CMYK inks.

Please don't laugh - I just want to use this chart to the best of my ability since there was so much time put into it by one person.

Would this chart help me in choosing the correct COPIC markers? That is one thing that I am looking for is a chart of COPIC Marker colors that would match SU colors.

Please e-mail me back at - sriegel710@aol.com

Thanks so much - Sheila

Dusty Durango:

I pulled these colors from the PDF file of the sneak peek of the new catalog. I pulled them with the document opened in RGB mode @ 8 bit color depth. There are MANY different ways to pull the color. I get SLIGHTLY different codes when I open the document in CYMK mode @ 16 bit color, so I thought I'd post those too.

Thanks for the new codes! Isn't there someone out there that uses a mac that could tell us what program we have to do the customize colors in? I'm not real computer savvy. Did you all see though that they are coming out with the in color markers in the new catty!

It doesn't matter what program you are using. It is all in the using of the fill(little bucket) or font and it will give you the option to change the RGB or CMYK. In Word, you go to the font color, click on more colors, select Custom tab and it brings up the RGB scale. Hope this helps

This is a great tool. However, all the codes for the soft subtles are incorrect. Just thought I would let you know, in case you weren't aware of that.

And you say this, why? Because you have a different chart? Stefanie goes to GREAT pains to ensure that the colors she's giving are correct. Unless you can provide "correct" codes, it's pretty rude to tell someone that their hard work is "wrong", "just in case you weren't aware of that".

I apologize and I stand corrected. You are right, it was wrong for me to point out the flaw of someone else's hard work. I should not have said anything and just kept it to myself. Next time, I will.

Instead of biting her head off, you could have done this yourself, Michelle. RTJmom is right. The chart is incorrect, but only a few of them are off. I compared it to a chart I've had and use for keeping the colour combo challenge list updated. Here's a colour comparison:

You can see that the Pale Plum and Blush Blossom are way off. Otherwise, even though the numbers are different, the rest look fine!

Truthfully...the BEST way to pick colors is NOT to use RGB, but CMYK.

Hi Sheila-

Your question is not dumb at all! I am no expert, but will try to answer your question.

The color chart is to enable you to put in the 'color codes' to your computer to create a close replication to the SU color. For example, you are using SU Chocolate Chip paper and you want to computer generate a sentiment that matches. You would look up the color code for chocolate chip, and enter the number values into your document and you should get a very close (each printer is different) to chocolate chip color to print with.

I do not think that the chart will help you with matching to copic markers. I remember seeing a thread for that. I will take a peek and see if I can PM you the thread.

Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions, or if I did not explain this enough - someone please jump in and help Shiela!

Good luck~

If it's not too much trouble, I was wondering if anybody happens to know the RGB for Kraft. Is there one? I looked through a whole lot of threads and found lots of different charts; but none of them have a code for Kraft. I realize that this will take work on somebody's part and I truly would be grateful for anyone's help. I hope it's ok that I ask for help with this.
Thank you so much.

Thank you very much!!

This is a very handy chart with the color combinations neatly laid out. Even someone as computer illiterate as me can use these (I think). I'll have to try these out and see what happens.

In your Utilities folder is an application called DigitalColor Meter. Start it up and it will give you a small window which will display every pixel of color under your cursor as you move it around. It has 13 color models it can display, but RGB as Actual Value will give you the RGB numbers as they've been recorded by PC systems.

Love my Macs!!
