Hi Delia: Here's one for sympathy...I got this from ckidd - I cased her happy harmony sympathy pocket card and there was really nice sentiment that she typed up:

So Sorry About Your Father

Although you will miss him
and long for his presence
and all of the warm family times you’ve had…
just try and remember
through all your sorrow
you have every reason
to smile and be glad…
you wouldn’t be feeling
exceptional sadness if
you hadn’t had an
exceptional dad.

With Sincere Sympathy

Thanks again for putting this together...I have to make a sympathy card for a friend and will be using one of the sentiments from your list. You are doll for sharing and updating the lists.

This one is sad but beautiful, had to use it recently for a 4 month old:

An angel opened up the book of life, to record the baby's birth, and whispered as she closed the book "Too beautiful for earth".

Great idea to share verses and sentiments, I am trying to do something in every family card I send now.

Thank you - that's such a great one. My grandfather passed away almost 3 years ago now, and that one would've been perfect for my mom - they were very close & she still misses him. Maybe I can think of a way to incorporate it on the "anniversary" of his death. I hope that doesn't sound morbid. I just know she'll be thinking of him (as I will - LOVED him SOOOO much - such a wonderful man!)...so I may make a card & incorporate this.

Delia, thank you so much for all of these wonderful sayings and poems. The one you did yourself in post six---I think I would put 'Me' if, of course it was appropriate--kind of cute

Thank you Nancy,
Great minds think alike, I don't know why I had such a brain block but someone else suggested "me" in a PM I think and I listed it under Women/me tab. Thank you for your help. Very much appreciated. I am so glad people are finding this list as useful and I do. Again thanks so much, please feel free to use it edit make suggestions for change, anything. I love how so many people have contributed to it and continue to make it grow.

Thanks Leslie,
Now it's easy the hard part was the beginning with so many to put in. When they come in bits and pieces it's pretty easy. Thanks, I am glad you like the list.

Default I love this!!

What a fabulous idea! I've had a tough week, so skimming down to the funny sentiments really picked me up! (And they weren't even in cute cards! )

I noticed a post that mentioned typing on vellum. I'm not good with vellum (new to a lot of this) but I was wondering...would it work to put it through my ink jet printer??

Yes, but it depends on some printers. My printer at work doesn't do vellum well but the one at home, no problem. What I do to save vellum is print out whatever I want on regular paper, then I cut the vellum and lightly tape over the wording and then feed the paper with the taped vellum through the printer. You have to wait a while for the ink to dry on the vellum otherwise it will smudge. Good luck

I am always interested in the inside messages. I am assuming you use the computer to print these before you cut the cardstock. My problem is that I like to have a box of finished cards and put the sentiment in when I know who I am sending it to. Do you have any suggestions about putting the sentiments inside a finished card?

How about Rose in Winter, do you have that set? I borrowed it from my friend and love it. Lots of flowers to get rid of this cold. Do ruby red and pretty and pink with mellow moss flowers. Love it.

I run a piece of cardstock through the computer and cut it down to 5 1/4 x 4. So you get a border all the way around. It looks really nice mounted. Hope this helps.

Hey guys,
I received a GREAT zip file from Joan, Yooper46 with what seems like hundreds of sentiments, I think I will be working on them for a week. I just finished up Anniversary so I will be updating when I complete all of them. Some of the anniversary ones are great. I guess if I stopped reading them and just listed it would go faster, but I can't resist LOL. Thanks so much Joan!!!

If you have already finished your card, just take a sheet of parchment paper, cut in to the size of your card (opened up), pick your sentiment, go to your word program in your computer, set up the paper size and margins, pick a nice font and color, type your sentiment and run the paper through the printer. Cut down the paper by 1/4 inch both width and height wise, fold in half and using double stick tape insert inside your card. Just a short strip of tape next to the fold line of the card will be enough, I put in two strips, one on each side of the card fold. Then when you open the card the inserted paper opens up too. You can buy the parchment paper in several pale colors; cream, pink, blue and green are some I keep on hand.
