Can't believe I'm first. Wow! Interesting pattern to work with -- kinda retro, art deco. Have to think about it some. Thanks, Karen -- I think!

OK, this is too strange...Last night DS and I ate out and asked for a take home box. They brought it out, I filled it, closed it and noticed the lid. I told DS this would make a great inspiration challenge. The restaurant was Cactus Grill. How funny! Now I have to make the card!

jojot 10-06-2006 08:54 PM

well...this should be a challenging one.....will think about it overnight.....can't wait to see the creations with this one....thanks, Karen.....

lacyquilter 10-06-2006 09:08 PM

Hmmmmmmm.... interesting... what on earth am I gonna do with this? Maybe I should work on last week's first.

Friday night fun!

Thanks for the fabulous challenge! I look forward to peeking Friday nights! I went with the geometric shapes, but since I didn't have stamps that worked for this, I cut out shapes of paper. The silver cord was for the lines down the middle. I love how a simple idea can morph to a card. I scanned it without the sentiment, and then I decided that it needed something. Thanks for looking! TGIF :p

This is going to be interesting. I'll have to think on this one.

stampkinz 10-06-2006 10:29 PM

Can't wait to try it tomorrow!

KearaS 10-06-2006 11:04 PM

oohhh! I love this inspiration piece! I just looked at it and already have a bunch of ideas and this is not my usual style. Can't wait to play!

Thanks!

lacyquilter 10-06-2006 11:10 PM

I was inspired by the white on white, circles and stripes. I did add an accent color. Here is red on a rose.

bensarmom 10-07-2006 12:49 AM

Oh my Karen, this will truly be a challenge for me! Will have to play later today. Thanks for the challenge.

You know me!! I'm too left-brained to be doing anything but a literal interpretation!!

Geometric Birthday

Teddie, I'm expecting to find your card posted when I get home tonight! That gives you about 16 hours!!

jstarbright 10-07-2006 04:17 AM

Whoa, I was expecting an oriental theme. Don't know why I automatically thought Chinese take out box. Jeesh, I must still be tired from stamping with badmom at a 10/10 until 12:30. Will think of this while getting my hair cut this morning. Thanks for the challenge Karen !

IC44

White on white just doesn't show up - I'll have to outline it or something and edit the picture - however, company is on the way and I still have stuff to do - I tried, but . . .

White on White Doesn't Show Up!
To future stampers - better use a gray bg if you're gonna try white on white!

flutterbees13 10-07-2006 06:47 AM

When I saw this container, I knew right away what I wanted to do. The white on white really appealed to me, in a very challenging way. The box also has a little bit of a shimmer to it, so my thought was to emboss a piece of white paper with iridescent ice embossing powder and then use that for my shapes. I embossed the paper first, and then used my circle and square punches to punch out the shapes. I dry embossed the lines down the middle. I knew that the card needed a sentiment and at least one color, so I went with red, and kept it simple.

Thank you Karen, for using the image that I suggested. I am honored and it was just so exciting to see it. This site is awesome, and all of the people here are so wonderful. I love *playing* with you girls. Your cards are also so beautiful, and they insipire me to work harder on my own. Thank you.

Here is my interpretation of this inspiration..

Thanks for looking :)

I actually had time to create before going to work. Originally I thought to do a New Years card but I don't have a Happy New Year stamp. Thanks for looking.

Holiday Takeout

I always need little boxes for one thing or another. So I was inspired by the box to make another box. Then a card to go with it for a LITTLE GIFT for someone. I will fill it with some Christmas candies.

StampinAK 10-07-2006 10:02 AM

Wow, I really like this! The geometrics have really caught my eye recently. I'll have to give this one a try later when I can play!

rainy 10-07-2006 10:05 AM

This one was definately a challenge. Played around with Crosshatch and Simply Circles for way to long before the two of them beat me up and told me to go play with my designer papers. Finally came up with something I like. Here it is:

This was a real stretch after working with all the Fall colors yesterday. I got a little lazy and let the stamp do most of the work--it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the box and think I have only used it once before.

I mostly saw the swirly pearlescent sheen to the container after I saw the geometric shapes. Fun challenge, thanks Karen!

here's one

Wow, love this!! As soon as I saw it, I thought of this card I had made before I had many stamps. I actually used my son's wooden blocks to make the shapes and hand cut the shapes as I also didn't have any punches at the time. I love geometric shapes and at the time, I just couldn't wait to make this card.

I am going to try to make another card today.... stay tuned ;)
