IC13 - Pillows (Inspiration Challenge)
Inspiration Challenge #13 (Don't forget to add IC13 to your keywords please!)
Today's inspiration comes from two gorgeous beaded pillows (found at Target a couple weeks ago). These are richl in colored and texture -- I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Feel free to translate the inspiration item into a card, a scrapbook page, or another project. Be inspired by the colors (rich), the theme (beads, flowers), or anything else -- this is up to your own interpretation!
My card is attached (I'll post a link once it is approved in the gallery).
If you want to be notified of each challenge when I post it (usually Friday afternoons), then you can subscribe to the Master List thread: Forums at Splitcoaststampers
If you need help with uploading your card to the gallery or posting a link, check out this thread: Forums at Splitcoaststampers
The pillows are awesome Karen, can you imagine beading all the way around those, yikes! Well here is mine, I used Ruby Red and Creamy Caramel but my scanner sure is distorting the colors so I am going to attach here only:
Love you sample Karen. Now to go play and see what I can do with these pics. Joni, I love yours too. I'll bet it really is pretty IRL. Technology can be a real pain in the butt sometimes. ;)
Hey Karen I have to tell you that these are some AWESOME challenges. I haven't had a chance to play but I sooo admire your ability to come up with these objects of inspiration!
I REALLY want to try this one, hopefully tomorrow;)
Keep up the great work!
Karen, what a great idea for us to subscribe to the master list thread, I forgot to look for this challenge until now and its eight hours later. Thanks for the tip!
These pillows remind me of the skirt challenge, same colors!
Great cards from Karen and Joni so far and I’ll be back!
I agree with Rox. I forget to check for this challenge. I've been pretty busy, so I haven't done the last few, but plan to go back & catch up. Actually, the inspiration challenge was the first one I participated in. I didn't feel so intimidated because there weren't a lot of participants. I actually started with the 1st one, but probably at least a month after it was posted. Now I am totally addicted to the challenges. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hi Karen... Thanks for posting another great challenge. After taking a long nap this afternoon I got up and went to work on finding something that I could design to be square like the pillows.
The plan was for glued on beads and to do red and gold. Then I decided on burgandy. Then none of my gold pens or pads worked well and embossing is not in my "range of motion" these days. The pink gel pen was the closest match to the burgandy ink.... surprise!... I like it anyway!
Question: How on earth do people invent cards for that "Take Ten" magazine??? Mine all take at least an hour!!! .... sometimes two!
I started this last night, but it was late, so I left it until this morning. This turned out quite different from what I originally envisioned, but I guess that's usually the way I design. It's very different from my usual style. I don't often do symmetrical. Here's my flowers & brads.
I got mine done and I must say this is by no means a Take Ten card either...what is that anyway! I never have a set game plan when doing a card so for this one I stamped the center and corner flowers and started looking for an image to go with them. I just got this vine stamp in a set from my SIL and it was perfect. So I got that done but the card looked unfinished so back to the stamp supply until I ended up with this:

Hi Ladies -- thanks for playing! Sorry I didn't catch these earlier -- I was helping my mom with stamp camp today and I just got the kids to bed. I'm off to check them out.
I used the idea of shapes accented with the beadwork. Also tried to repeat a general shape that's why I accented the retangular shape of the card with the geometric background and edging with strips of teal to repeat the shape. Looks better in reality than my scanner would show.
Karen, Are we moved to Saturdays? Wasn't it on Fridays? Look at me using the word " we " like I'm in the car with your challenge, lol
As I remember it WE were always on Saturday in the line up list. I'm just glad to see it higher on the list now. It scared me when I looked in this challenge forum yesterday and didn't see it in the usual spot, sheer panic set it...okay maybe it wasn't that bad!

Oh Joni, you are tooo clever to spot that! I was going to post an annoucement on Friday to the master list.
My original posting was on Saturdays because the scrapping ones had fallen off, but when those were brought back I went to Friday afternoon -- but now the scrap challenges have moved to Friday, so I asked to move mine on Saturday (I'm really conscious to not step on toes -- starting this challenge was nerve racking to me, but I really enjoy it so I am trying hard to find a good spot to put it).
Also a news article will be posted on Friday to advertise the Saturday Inspiration Challenge (as well as being listed in the challenge list on the home page). I really hope these items will help boost participation.
Glad you gals are keeping up -- and I certainly don't mind the "we" (that just shows me you really like the challenge ;) ).
Whew, am glad to know I have a little memory left! I am more refreshed on Saturdays so this should be great for me! I just have one question? Is it Saturday yet?
Location: In my Happy Place with no one bothering me....I hope!

Hi all! I am just discovering these challenges so I am going to try to catch up! Here's mine for this one. I liked the squares from one pillow, the flowers from the other, and the colors really stood out. Here it is:
