This is my first time for this...jstarbright told me to give it a try. I am a abstract thinker so I might be way off here. I saw this as a Love Card....it looked like the open waters over the sea with sea gulls flying and of course the letter L for Love. The verse is "Love returned is the reward of Love given"

Welcome back, Karen! I don't think I'll have time to play today. Too much preparation work to do for card club this week, but I will be checking in to see all your lovely creations!!
I really, really like the sample and had such fun making this card. I had a hard time going to sleep last night thinking of the design I wanted to use for this challenge. Well I guess I should be honest, it was a combination of knowing what I wanted to do on this card and the fact that I am such a chicken at night when my hubby is out of town thinking someone is going to break in and get me, lol. I hope you enjoy my Christmas in July card : Edited with the 2nd upload :

Here is my card for the challenge. I've been playing around with making textured background paper this week and this was a great challenge to use some of my paper.
I liked looking at the art work but doing this card took me way to much time and I'm still not to crazy about it. It's not really my style and I can honestly say for a change it looks better on screen to me than in real life!
I worked on this off and on all day--in my mind I saw sharper images, but it just didn't work that way. I left it sitting thinking I'd just toss it. But after dinner I decided to see what a little ribbon would do, and then some stitching--okay so now it's passable, but I'm thinking black ep resist might have given it the sharper image I had in mind.

I have been watching the IC for a while now, and several ones I have decided I will try, but haven't had the time, when I do...this one will be the first!! LOVE that piece of art.
It was a busy weekend for me. I didn't even get a chance to get on and say that I would do this later. Finally got it done and posted. I don't have any Asian stamps either and Oriental is just not my style, so these cards deviate from the inspiration piece more than I usually do. Calligraphy
On this one I used images from noteworthy to substitute for the Oriental writing: Bird Cats
