Tracy, I'm sorry for what your mother is going through...prayers out to everyone that has suffered through this horrible disease. I'm putting a special label on the back of every card I make in honor of my friend that lost his life due to cancer in August. I told my boss the other day what I was doing, he donated 100 A2 envelopes that I purchased through our supplier.
I'm looking forward to all the challenges, I like it when they extend the deadline because there are some challenges I can't do each night (some of the tougher ones), but I manage to make all the challenges & that's the fun part. New ideas & techniques are great.
Thanks Lydia for all your help & organizing. It is lots of fun chatting with everyone especially seeing all the smiley's that Lee shows us. She's a hoot!
Whoo hoo! Time goes by too fast for me but this is one time I really look forward to and probably the only reason I look forward to October. I don't participate in many of the other challenges because of time & lack of creative brain activity (& some laziness) but this month long challenge (of challenges) gives me plenty of time, has such encouraging camaraderie, great challenges and is for a cause most of have been touched by in one way or another, I cannot resist being drawn into making at least one card, even if it's at 2am!!
I better get cracking on my Birthday cards this weekend to free up some fleeting spare time in the month ahead! Also, thanks for the reminder, I better stop in at my LSS today to search out some pink cs to add to my collection! I think I have some card bags I had gotten years ago at xpedx in CO, buried somewhere in my crafting space...will need to dig those out.
I thought HL might have clear envelopes but they did not. However, all of their Paper Studio CS is 40% off so I added a pack of pinks to my stash . I also found a cut MME 6x6 with pinks to use my coupon on. I need to order the clear envies I guess!

WHAT is this pink glitter tape of which you speak????
Ahhh, it's made by American Crafts and comes in quite an assortment of colors. If memory serves me correctly, there were three shades of pink and also a couple of different widths available. I didn't pay the full price, courtesy of my daughter.
My poor little girl got her leg pinched on a faulty toilet seat in the ladies rooms today and we went directly to the manager to report the problem so that no one else got pinched. My gosh, it bruised immediately and she complained/cried through the whole store. We were about halfway through the store when an associate found us and gave us a coupon to use.
Enough of my sob story...the glitter tape I bought matches perfectly with the MAMBI paper pad that I also picked up today.
I have never done this challenge, in fact, I never knew about it. I am so looking forward to this. I LOVE to have a great place for my cards to go to! I hope I can be off and running tomorrow!
Hmmmm, an excuse to run to the craft store! I'm needing to look for curtains for my son's first place (and in my brand new kitchen and dining room ) so maybe I'll make the 25 mile drive tomorrow where all the shopping is....ah the joys of small town, rural IN where civilization is 1/2 hour away. Helps to keep me from overspending by limiting my access.
No kidding! I was just upstairs empyting the trash in my craft room (a Sunday chore) and I wondered if I could get up early and play before work. I don't remember what time that the challenges posted last year. Anyone?
The challenge must be up by now but I was reading through this thread before I checked. I was moved to tears by how many of us are touched either personally or through those we love by this horrible disease. My prayers will be with you all while I make my cards this month... Love to you all!

Of course I have been working on Creative Crew challenges...and I've been on vacation...and I am back to teaching...including teaching an art class for my homeschooled grandchildren and a women's class at church...
But jeez louise, to miss all the hype?!?! That is crazy!
So...
I'm tuned in now! I haven't even looked at today's challenge yet, but I plan on doing it as soon as my grandkids go home after lunch and I have a chance to clear away a 6x6 area of my desk and clean up the floor enough that I don't step on my cutterbees...again!
I am looking forward to all the HYCCT challenges-this is my 2nd year-and I hope to do all the challenges this year-now that I have put it in writing I am commited
First year participating here and a total novice to cardmaking, so not sure if my card is good enough. I uploaded the card for the first challenge just a few minutes ago. Not sure if I'll be able to do more, not because of the cardmaking process, but because of the fact that I'm from Europe and would have to send all those cards all the way to the U.S. by mid-Oct in order for them to arrive late Oct.

Oh don't let that stop you!
We have an Australian partner this year but not a European one, but we hope to next year. And we know it's a burden for our members outside the US, so if you want to mail yours all at the end of the month, that's totally fine. It doesn't matter when they get to MD Anderson - they come in for months after the challenge and brighten people's day!
The idea is to play, and have fun, and do what you can. If you have a local breast cancer center you can send them there as well.

I just approved your card - I found your write-up very moving.
Because of international postage, I save all mine up till the end of the month when the challenges are over and just do one big mailing .

I'm thinking of using the cards closer to home this year - my sister-in-law, a breast cancer survivor, became a crusader - she gave up her job and started Charis Integrated Cancer Care in Cookstown, Northern Ireland . They provide holistic health care and support to cancer sufferers and their families. It all began because my husbands family has been hit badly by this disease - he lost his mother and 7 aunts and uncles on her side of the family to it, and out of 6 children in his family, he and 3 other siblings have had cancer - thankfully, my DH is well now and so are his brother and two sisters, only one brother did not survive. They were asked to take part in a large research project because of the extremely high incidence in their family, and my two boys will have to be very alert regarding this throughout their lives.

Holy cow, Bridget -- how awful! I am so sorry! Your DH and his family had way more than their fair share...

I'm SO tickled to have found this challenge! (one might say I am tickled PINK). I've been making breast cancer related cards like CRAZY for the past week or so...so this is perfect timing!
Thanks, again, for hosting this worthwhile challenge.
Torrey, it's great to "meet" you! Your cards are amazing! And I was reading your bio on your blog - I am in awe to actually "speak" to someone who had a hand in inventing Nesties!!!!

Y'all are making me blush...AND making my head get all big! Y'all are WAY kind. Thanks for the warm kudos, ladies. This is gonna be a FUN-tastic month of card making!!
You guys!! I just had the most amazing night (which is why I haven't done your challenge yet, Lee). I had the chance to go to a concert that included Martina McBride and Lonestar, as well as a few other singers. Martina stood up and sang "I'm going to love you through it" and she dedicated it to "all the survivors in the audiences as well as those fighting the good fight and those loving them through it". It was so moving - she prefaced it by acknowledging October as breast cancer awareness month. It gave me chills and made me thing of all of you. I think we have all of those categories covered -- fighters, survivors and supporters -- in this thread.
I got the chance to actually meet her after the show - she was as sweet as she is talented. I'm kinda walking on air...so fun!!
