Jennifer - sketches are the absolutely HARDEST kind of card for me. The reason why is that I feel greatly hemmed in, restricted to keep to that sketch. I can't 'see' like that? So it throws me into a tizzie LOL!!!

I felt that way at first too... then I relaxed and let them tell WHERE to put the paper, all I have to do is choose the stamp and color. It got easier when I changed how I looked at it. I also use a lot of designer paper scraps for the smaller pieces.

To me, I think the sketch challenges help me out a lot although I didn't use any during the HYCCT, I just didn't have much time looking through all the challenges to make my cards. Now that I do, I'm participating more into the challenges again. I especially love the Tuesday Teapotters, always sending our cards to someone that could use a smile. They helped 2 of my friends fighting cancer, my friends were so over joyed.

Were you able to find the challenges, and the color challenge? Like Jennifer mentioned? You just click on Forums, scroll down about half way to when you see the week's challenges bolded into a paragraph. If you look in there, you will see Color Challenge. Click on that, and look for the latest link. I think Mary's is November 14. Click that, scroll down to the end of the page and you will see Mary's original post with the colors of 'blues' they are using this week. ♥

That's nothing, try smelling it when someone is cooking samples on the stove at work & I'm in the finance office. We are always testing new products that we want to sell...caviar is one thing I won't try.

I have to say that the Teapotters are my personal favorite too
I love all of the card challenges... but with my "life" I need to combine them more often than not.

That's why I really want to get into sketches. Since they are so difficult for me, I need to work on that.

I'm sort of with you, Jennifer.
I don't find them easy, still - even after what, probably 5 years of doing them. But - they are great for helping me use my DP and then I'll choose an image to fit the sketch, and colours to go with the DP.

I have to make a birthday card for my aunt, and while I've stamped and coloured the image tonight, I'm going to wait and see if it will work with tomorrow's sketch.

Since you are doing the sketch challenge on Wednesday-you could use the colors from Tuesday's color challenge for your card-then you have 2 challenges in one

I still recall on our first day of nursing school our instructor asked us to state our names one by one, then state briefly why we want to be a nurse. Out of over 50 students in class, only 3 (me included) stated "I want to help others who are suffering." You wouldn't believe what some people said. Not tooting my own horn. But you will see ALL kinds working in the medical field, many of whom do not want to be there and explains why care can be so poor. {my heart cries} I love truly caring nurses and doctors. But those are so rare.
I'm a RN, and my job right now is as a substitute school nurse. I also am Medical Advisor on the Board for our Area of Special Olympics.
I commend you for working where you did. Hospice was an area I could not work - I've seen too much of that with my family. I worked Infection Control and loved it.

Yep, that's what I did until I made a card...someone was kind enough to tell me it fit a Teapot challenge so I put in there & now I'm hooked. I never realized what the Teapotters actually did before, now I understand.

I commend you for working where you did. Hospice was an area I could not work - I've seen too much of that with my family. I worked Infection Control and loved it.
So awesome! I love fellow nurses. Special Olympics sounds so fulfilling and delightful!!!!! I really felt much inner joy and peace while working hospice, even in MedSurg despite the craziness at times. The one place I couldn't work is NICU. One of our children spent almost 5 months there, and just going inside a NICU kicks off big time PTSD. But at least in nursing there are endless fields to work in!!!! Nice to "meet" you ♥

I was working on L &.D before I got my license, and I would help in NICU if we weren't busy in L&D.
I'll never forget the time I fed, changed, and got a preemie back to the bassinet the he stayed in. I had asked (while I was feeding him) how much he weighed, and after I put him down, I was told he had just passed weighing 2 pounds that day! My hands started shaking, and I was told that was why they waited until I had put the baby down - they knew I would get shaky when I heard how much he weighed.

You'll love it. There's always a nice story that goes with the challenge.
