And guess who got to hold the flashlight while he used tongs to pick it up and stick it in a box? Yeah. And this is the back porch where our puppies go out to pee. *heart stopped* Yeah. So I need HAPPY thoughts like this winners thread to coax me back down to earth.

WHAT???? OMG.

This is such a rough place to live.

I feel lucky to live in CT where Ive only ever seen little garden snakes. I hate the spiders though. Wolf spiders, big, scary, carry their young on their back so when you try to kill them all the babies run away in a horror movie style.

Ha! Honey I see those things every day - I think I'll just send ours up to you since your hubby is the disposal unit.

There's a community garden in my sister's hood that a giant mom rattlesnake and her babies have been hanging out in. Some people were freaking out, so they put up a sign that said watch for snakes, but people were still saying DO SOMETHING. Like what? Move the garden inside?? LOL.

Bunnies eat veggies, snakes eat bunnies. You planted bunny food and now you have a snake.

Things that make you go hmmm....

Love Scotch eggs! I tried making them this summer but I think I over-fried them... they turned out dry and dusty. I guess I'll have to go back to Glasgow to visit my sister and get good scotch eggs (and cullen skank and tattie scones). But I'll skip the haggis.

THOSE ARE SO HORRIBLE!! Totally like a nightmare. Plus their eyes glow in the dark. In the morning at the ranch, the whole property is a sea of twinkling spider eyes.

Say WHAT???? Glow in the dark??? No way....... *breathe, breathe, breathe.....* I hate those stinkin spiders. You should hear me yell for hubby when I see one - don't care how big or small they are - he's gonna come rescue me. *totally refusing to go outside after dark now*

The darn things should know that my back yard and porches are OFF LIMITS. Eat all the mice and bunnies you want, but stay away from my pups and all humans! That's why you have nice grassy fields out yonder - stay over THERE.

Oh, that's ickky. It reminds me of a summer or two ago... we went by a field in the morning when the dew was still visible and there was an ENTIRE FIELD of spider webs... Hundreds of them. I was intrigued and went to look and in the center of EACH web (each web was gorgeous and about a foot or foot and a half across) there was a great big spider. I tried to get a picture, but I couldn't get a good one because of the angle of the sun. It was impressive and creepy... pun intended!

Oh yeah, you should be here in the late summer/early fall when the spiders start flinging themselves in the wind. There are silky strands everywhere - mailbox, cars, flag posts, etc.... If you're lucky enough, a strand will cross your face when you're walking to your car. Umm-hmm.

I get spooked with fake spiders let alone real spiders. I have to get a broom just to get it out of the house.

All this spider talk reminds me of the picture from Australia that I saw on FB the other day. It was a farm and the ground around it was white and looked like snow. The picture said it was not snow but spider webs covering the ground. Really creepy invasion if you ask me.

Here's a number 47 (all the digits of my phone number added together.)

Good luck to ALL of us trying to sleep tonight!!! Thankfully Halloween is over, and we're heading into Thanksgiving and Christmas. That should put some happy thoughts in our heads.

Ya want some numbers, Lydia? How about 5? (I'm looking at this Discover ad right above this typing box and it has 5% cashback bonus on there. Hee hee hee!)

That would have sent me packing my bags and heading for a state without rattlesnakes. My sister taught in N.M. and the janitor had to clear the doorways each morning before the kids went in the school each morning. The worst thing in our backyard is skunks.
If you post this picture on your back porch do you think it will deter the snakes?

Awww... it's like Charlotte's Web in real life... A nice thought, but probably not as enchanting when they land on your face...

I tried to get a picture, but I couldn't get a good one because of the angle of the sun. It was impressive and creepy... pun intended!

And by "angle of the sun" you mean "violently shaking hands" right?

Just popping in as I slurp down my smoothie. Headed out for errands before my dreaded dentist appt. One thermometer says -6 F the other says +16 (in the sun). Brrrrrr. I wouldn't mind it warming up a bit & snowing. As long as we don't get any more rain like we did a week ago, crazy weather everywhere.

congrats to all the winners! I'm still slowly making my way thru the HYCCT gallery, making comments along the way. It's nice to see & enjoy the inspiration in a non-hurried state. Also, hoping it would inspire me to start on Christmas cards....

All this talk of snakes & spiders! I don't miss them in AK, whoohoo! We have some spiders here but not the BIG scary ones, I don't think. My dad used to hunt the rattlers on our property in IN, well not intentionally, but when he found a possible den, he did something about it. Garden snakes had me running the other way. Dad had to remind me they're just as afraid of me, then I'd go timidly back to weeding & trimming bushes, shiver!

oops, better run off. Have fun!

If you post this picture on your back porch do you think it will deter the snakes?

Yeah, about that... I was talking to you all and forgot to take it out when the timer went off. It isn't burned, but it is a VERY deep golden brown...
