I think Lydia is getting her Dad home from the hospital and settled.....and then I'm sure she'll be chomping at the bit to crank up that machine and start her annual torture....errr...prize choosing!
Gosh, I hope everything is ok with Lydia's dad. Prayers that he's ok. I'm staying indoors today after it snowed last night, it's sort of chilly outside now.
I'm in sweats, booties & I got my hot tea since I don't drink coffee...wish I had a cupcake though.
Oh goodness, that must be stressful for Lydia. This summer my hubby and I have both have had our mothers in the hospital and rehab facilities. I hope she gets him settled and well soon.
I distinctly heard a**whistle***...all the way across the Atlantic ....and the word "cupcakes"....and "prizes"....I say lets put on some "coffee", the aroma always brings people out of the woodwork!
Kelli, I'm still in my jammies, too! Slept in this morning after staying up too late last night making cards. I am way behind on my holiday card-making; I keep forgetting that Thanksgiving is early this year.
Thinking good thoughts for Lydia and her day today.
And also want to add my thanks to all those who coordinated, hosted, worked behind the scenes, commented or otherwise supported another great year of HYCCT!

Oh NICE!!!!! lol I LOVE not being the ONLY Lazy Daisy around!!!!!
I have to start making Christmas cards as I donated 40 to my son's friend for the Hospital Christmas fund raiser! They sell the cards for $10 each!!!! I'm all, people PAY that much for them???
Just got home from visiting with my mom at her assisted living facility and thought I'd check in to see what's going on. I also stopped at the movie theater and bought tickets for the Lord of the Rings Marathon that will be taking place on Dec. 8th. WooHoo!!! 13 hours worth of movies in one day -- can't wait. Then The Hobbit opens the following weekend. Looking forward to that, too.
I'm still sitting in my sweats, but writing out all my Thanksgiving cards. I made them in September because I knew I wouldn't have time in October during the HYCCT. I only made 20 of them but day after Thanksgiving while everyone is shopping, I'm making my Christmas cards, this time it will probably be about 40.
Just checking in on this grey, drizzly day. I thought about going out for a walk...but decided I was having more fun coloring while hubby's out crabbing! *grin*

Jammies and warm ski socks here! Cuppa hot chai and stampin'! Hubby is watching the Bronco game and keeping the woodstove crankin' out the heat!
sittin here listening to hubby gripe about the calls, the commentators etc... I have a Love/Hate relationship with football season.... and NOW he's rambling about all he's learned from watching moonshiners! LMAO

Keep warm!
Great idea to make your Thanksgiving cards early! I need to put a reminder on my calendar to do that next year. I do have 15 or 16 Christmas cards completed already, but I usually make about 60, so I have a ways to go there. I haven't found "the" design yet that I feel like I can make a bunch of. I also swore I would not buy any new paper or stamps this year, so I don't have any "new" stuff to inspire me!

You'll find it! Have you dug deep into your stash to see if anything re-inspires you? I made that same commitment too because my stash is so thick!!
Hello Ladies. I'm a bit late chiming in. Once again, I loved doing HYCCT. I knew this year was going to be challengeing for me to spend time in my craftroom, but I kept October clear so I would not miss this event.
Lee, or anyone, you'll have to show me a link to your Broncos. My partner is a die hard Bronco fan, but in Australia we are talking about a completely different ball game, lol.

People thought I was crazy making them early, I think most people don't understand the labor & time to make each card let alone 20 or more cards. I did it assembly line because they were all the same. The HYCCT is different because they're all different. I promised myself I wouldn't buy anymore designer papers, goodness I have tons & now to think of it, I should organize it.
I'm stuffed with pasta, salad, & bread followed by the awesome PB brownies that my DD made served with ice cream and hot fudge sauce. We had 15 here for lunch so it was a little crazy. Now we're waiting for my mom to arrive for a couple of days visit.
Gail, after hearing about your delicious lunch, I am going to make some brownies with a pinch of instant espresso to bring out the chocolate flavor, and work on some Christmas cards

Yikes -- why do I think he might have been in the hospital this time last year as well?
Hope all is well, Lydia!

I did a little gardening today and now I'm paying for it -- my neck & back hurt. So I took a nice long nap this afternoon - that was awesome! I am SO good at napping. I think it might be my best talent.
My daughter is singing in a competition today and she's made the finals. We are waiting to hear how she did. Keeping my fingers crossed! It's a closed competition so we couldn't watch. Doing well in this would be great for her confidence when she auditions for college. She wants to be a music educator.
It was gorgeous here to day - 70 degrees in November in upstate NY is pretty weird! Tomorrow it's supposed to be 30.
I am dying for cupcakes and coffee!!

I've been making a scrapbook page! I seriously have not created one since the very first SU party I went to a bazillion years ago. My frustration level is as high today as it was the first time. I am soooo a card maker and not a scrapbooker.
My co-workers at school always want me to do bulletin boards because they like my cards. I politely decline and suggest that I could do a nice job if the bulletin board was 4.25 x 5.5

LOL! I was a scrapbooker before a cardmaker. I started making cards because I was going to be able to use up my scraps LOL!
I have a tough time getting myself to scrapbook now. Cards are addictive. For me, it's that instant gratification of seeing a finished project. My scrapbooks are NEVER finished. I know I have to shift my mindset to appreciate a finished page just like I do a card.

You know I've always wanted to scrap book, just never know how to get started. I mean I got tons of supplies, papers & pictures...but now the girls are 8 & 9, I still don't have a scrap book made for any of them.
I kind of gave up on getting baby books done for my kids (now 6 of them) but I have managed to do a book for each of them as they've graduated from high school. I do a few pages on their preschool days then a 2 page spread for each school year. My goal was to do that each year for each kid and keep up with it, but that hasn't happened yet either so I end up doing the full book in the last few weeks before graduation. I find that once I get into a rhythm with it it goes much faster. So far only 2 kids have baby books done, but maybe someday I'll go back and do books for those baby days!
My kids (24 and 17!) don't have baby books either -- but one of my dogs does LOL! My kids never fail to point that out to me... The poor second dog doesn't have a baby book.
Connie -- my niece is a middle school teacher and is starting a scrapbooking club after school for her students. She asked me to help her set up a lesson plan to teach the girls. I honestly don't know where to start --- because what more is there to it than start with some photos of an event and add paper LOL! Yes, I know there is more to it -- but it can truly be that simple, right? I started back in the CM days when we took 3 photos, cut then in funny shapes and put some triangles of paper in the corners. I sure got a lot more done then than I do now!

All I remember back in the old days, was just to put pictures in a scrap book & you're done....LOL!
Vicki, I think I will start after the holidays. My husband calls me a procrastination but that's ok. I have a quilt to make for my friend out of her late husband's Hawaiian shirts. He's the one I dedicated all my cards for the HYCCT in his honor & I just started a tradition for the future years to come. I told her that was a great idea as so did my husband, looking forward to making the quilt for her.
