She's holding down liquids so I'll start her on some crackers soon....just bought wheat thins at Aldi yesterday.
No stamping today, but this am I had a nice phone call from a friend who could tell from my card making of late that I was struggling and then had a nice time when my 19yoDS who lives and works in a town 1/2 hour from here came over to borrow a pan. He and his 2 brothers helped me cook lunch and we had a fun literary discussion the whole while. It was a great afternoon! DH is out having lunch with a pastor friend so I hope he comes back feeling encouraged as well.
I've been having a hard time deciding what to do with the "ears" challenge, but I think I'm going to do one that a daughter could give her mom. I know it really touched my heart last week when my 11yo made me a card.

My house drives my mom nuts because she is not only clean, but super orderly. The best I can manage is clean. Homeschooling and 6 kids has made for a pretty good excuse, but I wasn't ever and never will be as good a housekeeper as my mom. I like to think that I make up for it in other ways.
I like to go by the old saying, "Clean enough to be healthy, dirty enough to be happy!"

I do have a big difference between good enough for the family and "company clean". DH says we need to have an event at the house at least twice a year so it gets a super cleaning (he does help a lot when I go into super clean mode).

Never heard that but I like it...for me company clean is cleaning areas I don't normally clean...

Such as closets, drawers, cabinets...places company would never go...OR I'll have someone vacuum out the gas fireplace or I'll clean the ceiling light fixtures...

Yes...I have issues...sometimes I'm CDO and sometimes only OCD...or ADD...and usually happy being whatever I am at the time!

And I should add...I was vacuuming week-old dust bunnies underneath the master bed and I sucked up something besides a dust bunny!

Not sure what it is but it is stuck in the hose...will wait for hubby to get home and see if he can rescue me cause I can't get it out whatever it is...

There isn't normally anything underneath the bed so this is quite embarrassing to me...

Are we supposed to post pictures of our extras or can we just include them in the box. I have not been taking or posting pictures of the extras.

I like that!
I try to do a good clean on Mondays so that if anyone unexpected calls the house is clean and tidy. It gets slightly untidier when the weekend comes round, though...
My problem is when we have people staying, because the guest room is where everything ends up; and trying to find space to relocate bike gear - leathers, jackets, trousers, panniers and back-boxes-, a spare guitar (or two, sigh...), some of our camping gear and my tailor's dummy, and still keep the rest of the house looking OK is always a problem.

I did not know there was only two. I'll go and have a look at the times and see how they sync up with my time zones.

Off the top of my head, I'm sure the first one is 5 pm Eastern and I'm nearly positive the second one is 7. But for me to translate that into your time, I'm sure I'd get it wrong! I'm still struggling with the fact that we've already gone back to GMT while US summertime only ends next Sunday.

I usually suck up missing socks when I sweep under the bed. I try to remember to look but always seem to forget.

Tomorrow is the last day for HYCCT challenges and I have had a blast doing this for the first time! I have finished up several leftover shoe box swap kits, used supplies I have been hoarding (why??), and tried several new techniques. It has been a long, long, time since I have spent this much time working on cards and I have made a resolution to spend some time each week in my happy space.

If you've made them following the challenge criteria, by all means upload them and link them to the relevant challenge thread. But if they're just extras from your stash that you're including in your mailing, then no, don't upload them.

6 and 7 Eastern time, so that should be 7 and 8 in Central/Dallas time.

I agree with Pamela (sadiejane929)..this has been a great month! This is the first time for me ,too to do any HYCCT challenges and I am up to date on all that have been posted. Does anyone know when the three challenges for tomorrow will be posted? I assume the first will be by 8am CST..

I think she must have been talking VSN.
Sabrina, every house has a "black hole" where everything goes that doesn't have a place to go otherwise. My housecleaning happens in reverse with my house being the cleanest on the weekends and the worst during the week. That is the homeschooling life-I used to keep the living room really clean since it is the room you enter from the front door, but it has the most comfy chairs and best light, so we usually end up doing our school in there. On any given day, you'll see lots of papers, books, etc but on Fridays everything has to get stowed away since we won't school again until Mondays.

Okay. Since my time never changes and I live far far away, lol, if someone can tell me what o'clock it'll be in Dallas for the first VSN challenge I might see if I can work it into my day, which will be Saturday sometime for me. I can make my own time conversions based on that info. Much appreciated.

I am caught up with all the challenges so far! ! ! Whoopee! The uploader seems to be working overtime and is a little slow, so I haven't uploaded the card for today yet. I hope the three for tomorrow are fairly easy as I have other things on my agenda that need to get done.

I agree that October is a fantastic month because of HYCCT. I think this is my third year. I wish I could be there when they open the boxes of cards and see everyone's all together. I know some have sent cards during the month, which I'm sure the folks at MDA appreciate.

I still need to find some envelopes to put with the cards. I looked at two stores yesterday and was dismayed at how expensive they are! The church orders the envelopes for the Card Ministry (at a nice discount), so I only have to worry about envelopes once a year - for Christmas. (Too bad I can't ask the church office to order them for me.) I have thought about making envelopes for HYCCT, but I'm not sure I'll have time. I didn't make extra cards, so that would only be 36 envelopes. . . still ...

Thanks for the link and times.

Not being familiar with US city locations and time zones, I stick to just knowing the time in one city. Dallas Time is also HYCCT time

And Texas is where it's all at, right???

I was going to look at Dollar Store, Big Lots, etc. types next. I'm not sure where there is a thrift store near me, but thanks for the tip.

The envelopes at the Staples here were $.50 more per 100 than at Office Depot, which surprised me. I can usually find them cheaper at Staples.

We have a much more limited choice of stores here though I do believe there is an office max in a town 1/2 hour away. I stock up when Staples has sales, but even at the regular price they're so much cheaper than SU. They aren't as nice of envelopes, but seriously-who checks the quality of their envelopes when they have a beautiful hand made card to look at!
I've got my eye on the WRMemory Keepers envelope board/punch so I can make my own someday, especially for days like yesterday when I ended up with an odd sized card.

I've only confused myself now. I'd said 5 EST in my first post about VSN yesterday, and I must have got that from somewhere - probably the post kramomma has linked to. And then last night I posted the 6 and 7 based on looking at the hostess spreadsheet. 5 and 6 sounds more likely!!! I'll check that out with Misti and Lee .
