All in all a really nice day. Will have to stamp extra tomorrow as I just don't have any energy left for stamping. Migraines, even when stopped in their tracks with meds, still zap me.

The cupcakes sound AMAZING!

And amen to the post script! Stamping is my most creative outlet right now. I do sew and knit, too, and they are extremely rewarding and relaxing, but I follow patterns. Stamping is anything at all. The kids need play time. Mommy needs craft time. Daddy does, too, but he never seems to get it. Maybe I'll do some reading today about what kind of wood he needs to get started with his lathe.

, I had an SCS friend send me some canned pumpkin (and pumpkin spice, which we don't get as a mix here either) especially so I could make a recipe I'd expressed interest in. And it was yum. It just still puzzles, me, in retrospect, as to how we had it regularly as kids when it's still not available now. That's why I think relatives must have sent it over!! I've cooked with fresh pumpkin, though.

I will be putting at least 3 cans of pumpkin in my shopping cart today due in part to this conversation.

When hear of vegamite I always think of that Men at Work song from the 80's. I've actually seen it in stores, but never been too tempted.
When you shop at military grocery stores they have a bit more international stuff to satisfy the taste buds of folks who've either lived overseas or married people from other places. The Norfolk area stores had a lot of Filipino, British and German stuff on the shelves.

I'm not a big fan of the Irish black and white puddings, but some of the ones I've had in France have been pretty tasty. I think the Irish ones are way too salty, most of them. It was something we never had growing up, it was certainly a bit of a shock to the system the first time I encountered it.

HAHA me too Paula.

I remember a year or two ago when there was a canned pumpkin shortage, and you would have thought it was the beginning of the zombie apocalypse!

Happy cooking! I'm wondering if I want to try the cupcakes enough to cook my own pumpkin first. But as Gail said, it requires adapting recipes for the extra wateriness, and I already find I'm adapting for American flour being quite different so it might just be a disaster on the horizon if I had to make too many adjustments .

Absolutely dreadful stuff!!!!!! Nasty!!! If you have a grocery store with a large import section you can buy it in the US. This summer when we were in Ohio, the girl traveling with us found it there.

These aren't truly cupcakes, but cheesecakes baked individually in cupcake liners. I'll work on getting the recipe up now. I thought they were pretty yummy, but I bet any cheesecake with the salted caramel on top would be awesome!

Salted caramel is good with almost anything .
I don't ever bother making myself a birthday cake, but last year I made a French pastry chef's recipe for a chocolate and salted caramel tart. A lot of work but worth every minute of it.

My DS is working as a barista and makes a pumpkin mocha breve that it out of this world good. He made a tart recipe out of it and it was SOOOOOO rich. Almost too chocolatey if there can be such a thing. He made the caramel for me yesterday as I had a mid day migraine. He has become quite the baker and dessert maker. There is a bunch of sauce left over since it was just a spoonful for each cupcake
I put the recipe up including the links to the original so you could go directly there and print from there.

YaY! As of this morning I'm only 9 cards behind.

If only there weren't more days left in the month. And I didn't have school work.

Oh, well. Crossing my fingers that I'll be able to play catch up again soon.

All this pumpkin talk makes me glad for those 3 huge ones ready to be cooked up...YUMMY!! I usually strain mine a little before freezing to get it a little less soggy. My fave treat this time of year is Pumpkin bread pudding...but then there is the pumpkin cheesecake too.....hmmmm...but only if you have lots of people to share with cuz they aren't waistline friendly....

I am struggling with the KISS challenge...can not figure out images to use...Must have sold the big blossom stamp...and I tried to use one of the Sweet & Sassy stamp images that I won but...it isn't working either...

Hmmm...I read through the technique so that is not my problem...thankfully...

And for pumpkin pie...I like to make the pie without the crust...OR...just eat Cool Whip by itself when I'm really lazy!

do you have any clear stamps that you could flip over and use the back side of them? it could be a background stamp too. Angie does the flip thing.

You can also ink up an embossing folder on the negative side and then kiss it!

Elvis is causing me grief, though. I've never been a fan. I'm thinking Blue Hawaii or bananas and peanut butter.

There's also Blue Christmas, Heartbreak Hotel - signage maybe?, Let Me Be Your Teddy Bear, any love card - Love Me Tender, Can't Help Falling in Love With You, etc, Devil in Disguise - angels work for that one too, the rock n roll technique, Jailhouse Rock - maybe black and white stripes? Anything about kings?

Don't you have a peanut butter and jelly stamp?
I remembered Rock and Roll as a technique too late to incorporate it on my card - like when I was uploading, rolls eyes - so I might just make another one.

Kramomma - you could even ink an acrylic block and kiss it with a patterned stamp.

DD has been stamping almost every day lately so I told her she could make cards for the challenges. We just signed her up so she could have her own gallery so as soon as she gets activated we'll get her going as Ella Bella.
I think I'm going to have to buy more paper though she tends to use the brighter colors that I generally avoid. She also LOVES pink and of course glitter and bling. Should be fun to do together.

They're here! Last spring I won a prize over at Kitchen Sink Stamps. I got a gift certficate and I got to suggest a stamp set. I suggested Rubber Duckies (I did NOT design them, their cuteness is all Maria), thinking they would be fun to dress up like the ones Oriental Trading company sells. And I asked for an "awfully fond of you" sentiment since I'm a big Ernie and Bert fan. Anyway, she liked the idea and they have been released. Along with some accessories. My set (part of the prize) should be waiting with the vacation hold mail. Eager to get inky tonight! I'm a week's worth of challenges behind so hoping to use them for HYCCT! Isn't that a cool prize?

As I'm reading thru the pumpkin conversation, having my first cuppa of the day, I having an entertaining read.

I think vegemite is awful too. I use to buy a small jar of it in case kid should ever turn up and ask for it. No one ever did so after about 15 years I stopped stocking it. Having said that, if ever there was a shortage I'd probably have to go and buy it. You know........'just in case'.

Gail, crafting with children is always a good thing. You'll have a lot of good times together.

Love them...my mom used to play Rubber Ducky on the piano to my kids and I can still sort of bang it out myself. Such a cute song and how fun to have a part in the creation of a stamp set!

Janeen, if you want your cards to count for prize drawings and toward our total stats, they need to be in the special HYCCT gallery.

haven't started my kiss card yet, but my fave way to do this one is to kiss a detailed bg stamp to an open image stamp like an animal. maybe that is the way all of you do it.

I just went out into my barn attic to get my Elvis stamps. wish I had more of them. hopefully CHF will one day carry them again. my one day future DIL, her father is an Elvis impersonator. he has performed all over the world, including many Cleveland Indians baseball games. he is really good. my first SU! demo scrapbook page was one of him at a show, and this was before we were friends with them. we laugh about it now.

anyway, a little reminder to be sure you are tagging your cards for each challenge. the easiest way to do it is to just copy the tag from the first post in the challenge thread. if you have any questions, there are plenty of folks who are happy to help ya out!

hugs to all of you!
sounds fun, the elvis impersonator.

You would have to edit the card and make your album selection, but doing this would remove your uploads from the HYCCT galleries. It's either one or the other. I thought of doing the same but there was a note on the album selection advising that doing this would make it not visible in galleries.

Yes - cards that are in albums are not searchable.

And yes, you (in the general sense) could edit your existing uploads and move them to an album. But as the challenge guidelines state, the uploads need to be in the HYCCT category in order for you to be eligible for the prize drawings and in order to be included in the stats for HYCCT.

On my computer, I've created a special folder for my HYCCT cards and store them all there. Not exactly the same as having them all in a special place in my SCS gallery, but it suits my purposes fine.

Just got a phone call to work a night shift. I just came good from doing a 12hr day shift yesterday. On the bright side, it's stinking hot today so I avoided working in the heat of the day.

Just finished my KISS card. I'll have a quick look around the room and see if I can find some inspiration to do the Elvis challenge. If not I may work on some uploads.

No cards today....got caught up in reading a novel. I'm speaking about homeschooling at a Mothers' group at our previous church tomorrow (actually that would be later this morning ) so of course I'm still up. Time to get some shut eye so I can function tomorrow.

What you can do, if you really wish, is move them to an album after all the fun (and prize-giving ) is over. Then you would just create an album and edit them to move them in. I understand the reasoning behind wanting to have an album, but personally I go with Patricia's method of having a folder on my computer for HYCCT cards (and folders for all the other challenges) and keep them organised that way for my own satisfaction, while still having them uploaded to correct and searchable galleries on SCS.

If you do go the album route after it's all over, if you need help just ask any of the gallery mods. (From HYCCT hostesses that includes LuvLee, PH in VA, Scraperwannabe and myself ).
