How have I missed this thread so far??? Yikes, apparently I need to pay more attention. Found out the I won a Flourishes gift certificate. Yippee!! Can't wait to go shopping! Thanks so much!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating tomorrow! Just got my big fat 11 pound Prime Rib all seasoned and ready for cooking. No turkey at our house. Enjoy your holiday!
If you have a good sized Joann's you may be able to score big-time. I picked up a four pack in there for $74 last year!
WOW! There's a great deal. They opened up a brand new super store a few miles away but I live down the street from a nice store too. I also live by Hobby Lobby & Michaels too.

Lucky you - we don't even have a Joann's here. When the urge gets really bad we go to Fort Worth. A two and a half hour drive-

WOW! I need a fabric store near me, I'd go crazy. I'm going there Friday to pick up some quilters showcase fabrics at a $1.99 a yard when it's normally $5.99-$6.99 a yard. I have to make a quilt soon before Christmas.

How soon can you get them here?

I think it must be quittin' time. Wish all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving, and prayers to all who are hurting in some way. I truly understand - I lost my sister very suddenly in March, and Thanksgiving was always at her house. I think tomorrow may be kinda difficult...
Good night, all.

We also have an Archivers, however it's about 15 minutes away but all highway so it isn't so bad getting there....sort of glad it's a bit away's because I'd spend lots in there.
My boss asked me where to go to get a nice leather scrapbook for our companies pictures, articles etc...he gave me $300 dollars to spend in there & he was impressed with their products. I came back with lots of goodies & now we have a nice black leather scrapbook sitting in the foyer between sales for vendors/customers who come in.

I'm sorry to hear that Jody. It's got to be difficult. I can't even imagine what my late friend's wife will be going through tomorrow, she's alone with her kitties & her husband was a chef, he passed away in August. I'm sure she'll go to a friend's house.
Try & have a nice day tomorrow, just say an extra prayer as I will do the same for you & my friend.
I have my Christmas music on shuffle... Il Divo, Josh Groban, Amy Grant, Mariah Carey, Michael Buble, and one by the London Symphony/Chorus that oddly came from Victoria's Secret...
Anyone have a favorite Christmas album? I need to add Harry Connick's first one to my itunes - the 2nd one wasn't as good.
It's 11:30 here, thinking I should put a movie in & watch it with the hubby. The girls are even up still. Have a Happy Thanksgiving & enjoy the special moments with families & friends. This time of year I miss being around my family back home, someday we'll go back home for the holidays.
Maybe Lydia will sneak in sometime tomorrow.
Just finished doing all my prep work for tomorrow; all I have to do is assemble my appetizer when I arrive at my destination tomorrow. Now I am beat! Think I will be calling it a night, as well.
If I don't have a chance to pop in tomorrow, have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.
Happy to see PH in VA in there among the winners. And all that chat!! I don't think I have time to read it all before I have to head out to collect some parcels and do some quick shopping.
Well, my attempt at making marshmallows was..... interesting! I had to find a recipe that didn't call for corn syrup, and DH couldn't find gelatin, so all I had to work with was agar-agar.
First attempt was a complete failure - we ended up with slightly thickened sugar syrup - the mix never got thick or fluffy. Boo.
Read a little more on the internet, and found recipes that called for egg whites, and also read that when you substitute agar-agar for gelatin, you need an additional 'protein' in the mix, such as sweet rice flour. I do have that. But all I had left was orange flavored agar-agar. Hm.
Mixed the sugar syrup and agar-agar as before - and forgot to add the flour when the mixture was still hot. Then realized that the egg whites were supposed to be whipped separately.
I figured I had nothing to lose, so I reheated the agar-agar/sugar syrup/flour mixture to boiling, whipped the egg whites to stiff peaks, and mixed the syrup back in. HEYY!!! Light and fluffy and stiff. Sooooo... I have that setting in a sugared pan now. I have no idea what it is... but I think it might work.

Bing Crosby but maybe you're too young to have heard of him!
New Christmas favorites Josh Groban and Michael Buble.... I guess it is about that time to find out where my Holidays cd's are... I know I haven't unpacked them yet.....

No corn syrup because you can't get it or because of a food intolerance? I'm just curious because until very recently I couldn't get it here either and always had to substitute. So in the days when I made marshmallows I definitely substituted for that. I have very little experience with agar-agar apart from using it a couple of times for vegetarian friends.

So what were you using instead? I used what I think is a very UK, not even European product, but I guess anything like liquid glucose or agave syrup would work.
And sheesh, I've just seen your post about the IO site-wide sale. I did not need to know about that!! Temptations, temptations.

I hope it does, after all that work you put into it.
Hmm, maybe a good discount might be the time for me to finally get the MegaMount!! Maybe I did need to know after all, LOL. But I wonder will it fit in a global priority mailer or is it big enough to up the basic postage.
I hope you have your own personal Thanksgiving over there, Dina.
