Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers for my mom. She was in better spirits today and looked like she was in less pain. Wow, today's winners won diecuts. Congratulations. I think that is what I won last year and I loved them.

Yep! She's gone through 2 hip replacements, 1 this year because she fell & no one was home at the time. I was scared to death. She has a shoulder replacement & 2 knee replacements...goodness, it's hard to pass through the airport security with her...poor thing, they make her take off her shoes & socks which she can't put back on.
I used to have a personal "rule" about not using mixes. I would never make a cake from a mix for instance. But I've broken that rule enough times as I grew older and lazier. I hated to buy a bread machine because I thought that was "cheating" but I still won't buy a mix for the bread machine. Making bread by hand is a lot more fun though.
Val -- I generally don't use mixes. I'm a scratch baker and a throw-it-in-the-pan cook. And the real reason?? I don't seem able to follow the pictograph instructions on the back of the mixes LOL! I can read a recipe ... but those picture instructions throw me for a loop!

Is that a higher number of participants from last year??
My stamp group swears they will participate next year. They said that last year also .. but they swear they mean it now.
Bahaha! I'm going to try to talk some friends into it next year. If I had local crafty friends we could have a cardmaking party...note to self: make local crafty friends.

I've got local crafty friends, but most of them are either not online and/or not as addicted to stamping as I am.
Ok THAT was NOT easy.....just to let you all know.....picking a winner is hard!!! I loved my cupcake player-alongers!!!!! But....I finally decided.....
How cool is that? I'd love to make more things from scratch, but between work and design team commitments, my time is pretty much spoken for. I'm doing good to put a home cooked meal on the table after work.
Graham Flour??? I've never even heard of such a thing. Wonder where you would buy that...
if I can't find baking items locally I can usually get them from King Arthur Flour. I think they're based in Vermont but you can order online. it's been awhile since I ordered but if I'm not mistaken the shipping is based on the weight, not the cost of your order. Which for me was good but if you're ordering something like a flour the shipping might be pricey.
Can't wait to text my mom. She was here when the prize giveaways began and saw me checking in on the thread. When I sent her some texts the next day she told me that each time she got a text she was sure it was going to be me telling her I'd won! She's my biggest reason for participating (~1 1/2 years since her diagnosis)and can't wait to share the win with her!
