I remember back in the day.... ahem.... a FEW years back when it snowed while hubster and I were students at UT. we were planning our wedding and he was coming over to my condo that Friday night so we could go over a ton of stuff. classes were cancelled that afternoon and shuttles stopped running. he ended up walking down I35, which was closed because of all the snow, and we met halfway, both of us walking. it took us hours, but we didn't care 'cause we was in LUV!
now we live smack dab in the heart of snow country in Ohio, just a few hundred or so miles away!, getting over 150" of snow every winter. too funny to think back on those days now....
congrats to the first winner, stampercamper! hooray!
ain't love grand! I don't think I've ever loved anyone THAT MUCH.
Here's a fun site with unusual city names Here in Indiana they just used names from other places: Warsaw, Mexico City, and Lima come to mind right off the bat.
Location: I'm from Austin, TX. Well, actually Cedar Park.

I know I couldn't live anywhere but TX. I'm to used to the nice weather all year round.
DH won't even chance me driving in the rain and definitely not when it's icy out. No one around here unless they grew up in the North like my DH who grew up in Utah and Illinois know how to drive that's why we shut the town down. When the weather gets that bad.
This year was the first time I went to UT and it wasn't winter. I actually enjoyed being there for the first time ever. The 2 times we went before were November and January and let me tell you I won't do that again. I'm to wimpy for that frigid weather all I want to do is go inside and be under blankets drinking hot cocoa.

Oh, I want to live in Snapfinger, GA. I've got to look the history of that one up.
And our fourth and final Stamp Simply Ribbon winner is....
kimizzle!!
that photo is hysterical. especially since my cat likes to park his big old butt (yes, Shamey that's right your butt is big) on my desk when I work and he gets nutso every time I break out the twine and ribbons.
Since we're talking about unusual town names...the infamous names in Pennsylvania that brought about the line "you have to travel through Intercourse (PA) to get to Paradise (PA) come to mind!
Bill and I have a friend that owned a bowling center in Blueball, PA. Not too far from Intercourse, lol
Hi PH in VA! When I googled Stuarts Draft, I found out it's called the Warehouse Capital of the US...didn't know that. I love when I step outside and the air is filled with the aroma of the McKee factory (makes Little Debbie snacks) that smells like brownies baking!

I remember in high school a California team came for a basketball tournament in the middle of December and one kids exclaimed "how do you breath here!!" Because it was so chilly.
As for driving, you get used to it. We had a particularly bad day last week. We got about 6 inches or more of snow in a short period of time, right before the morning commute. It took some people hours to get to work (or to make up their mind to turn around). One of our employees got stuck in a line of traffic behind two buses that skidded across the exit road and blocked the one-way route. Then, some people ran out of gas, blocking the others in line. It was looney bins.
Then there are the weird road names! I drive to work on one named Mule Academy Road! I'm not sure of its origin, but could come up with some ideas! Wouldn't want to have Lydia bring out the censors, so won't go there!

And if we're talking about fun names of places to live, Sugar Land is sweet, right Liz?
Wish I could say it was because all the people who lived here are sweet, but it once was to home of Imperial Sugar Company. Nowhere but Texas....places like Dimebox, Cut and Shoot, and Gun Barrel City.

my sons go out in the snow barefoot all winter to take the dogs out.... teens around here wear shorts even in the snow and flip flops all year long. that's with temps down around 0*. I have a winter coat, but haven't actually worn it in years. probably will this year only because with all of my treatments, I am freezing all the time.

I bet the Hershey plant contributes to the chocolate smell there, too.
We have the Best Buy distribution center near us... no nice scents coming from there. Oh well.

Speaking on these tamales, just what is the qualifier that you are sorting them for? Size, heat, what?
It's been a funraiser and people have ordered them by the dozen and type: beef, pork, or chicken. Oops, I mean fundraiser, although I guess we had fun putting these orders together!! We made a 40% profit so it wasn't bad.

And, we could also be the only state with a roadside sign that reads "Eat here and get gas!" That is truly in front of a restaurant and service station!
Indiana is also the headquarters for Vera Bradley
just sayin' there is more than corn and corny towns in Indiana! LOL

It gets really interesting in the springtime when the farmers add manure to their gardens...just imagine the smell of chocolate with...well, you get the picture!

I should have placed an order for next day delivery! boy howdy, do we ever miss those fresh tamales!!!
we've tried for several years to get our family in San Antonio to send us tamales at Christmas in place of gifts, but it hasn't panned out yet.... sigh..... that would be heaven!
