Is the fun still going on today, or do we have to wait for tomorrow?!
I think we're done for today. Of course people will still pop in to check the thread posts and to chat some. I think I'm out for the day. Been on the computer too long already. Spent some time on Pinterest looking up stuff, finding new people to "follow" etc.
Thank you, I figured it was something like Gamsol. I just was brain dead. I sure would like to be your sidekick for awhile to hopefully have some of that talent rub off.
Oh, you and me both!!
Checking in after a rotten day at work- half of our high school had no network. You'd think it was the end of the world. What did we ever do before the Internet? Apparently none of our teachers remember...
Sorry to vent but thanks for being an outlet! AND for the exploding squash
Dina your card may be one of the most gorgeous things I have ever seen, honest!

As far as sides I always do my mom's mashed potato casserole which can be made ahead, sweet potato casserole, and Bobby Flay's amazing Brussel Sprouts if I can get the pomegranate part made otherwise we'll just roast them with olive oil, salt and pepper. Another family tradition is Prune Whip which is basically stewed prunes folded into whipped cream with orange rind and a few nuts...I may skip this this year as I'm really the only one who likes it. My older kids are doing the baking making rolls and pies.
OMG I'd love that prune recipe - that sounds amazing!
So, Lydia, after all these prize giveaways, do you feel like an elf or a fairy or just a gal in the prize patrols...holding balloons like Publisher's Clearinghouse?

HAHAH actually - what I really feel? What I really feel is that I miss all of you...
Looks sort of like this squash which I'm not familiar with but found via google.
I think you may be right... most often here they cut it up and put it in a vegetable porridge, or cook it in coconut milk with lemon basil and lemon grass and chili, which is super yummy.
I'm here! Finally left work. Came home to some happy mail thanks to connections from Splitcoast. It's a always a nice surprise to get something handmade in my mailbox.
First big storm of the year...love it! Crazy strong winds and the rain just came pelting down.
Windy all day here, and the serious rain just started this afternoon. Coming down in buckets, now. Normal Oregon storm... Standing water here in town, since so many folks still had leaves piled curbside for city crews to pick up. Folks out of town are losing power occasionally, but that's not unusual. Like Tam, I glory in the wind and rain. I don't want the webs between my toes to dry up.

oh so good to be home....today was wild...and then came home to find 6 squad cars and 3 hook and ladders on my street and I had to sit there for about 45 min till I could get the rest of the way home.....guess someone broke into a vacant house and was trying to keep warm with large candles and set the place on fire.....what nutcakes....some days ya gotta wonder....but there musta been about 20 hunks running around the area...WHOOOOT!!! oh my...if ya gotta be stopped, the eye candy doesn't hurt....LOL!!!
Congrats to all of todays winners....
Dini, that sure looks like a kombucha but I've never seen them that big....I grow little ones, about the size of acorn squash and stuff them with a apple, turkey sausage and rice mixture....really yummy!!! and OMG...your card is fabulousness....
OK, catching up here. It's all about the mashed potatoes for me. No recipe, just lots of butter (go figure). I also (*gasp*) do not much care for pumpkin pie (would rather eat more mashed potatoes) but love pecan pie, especially when my texas MIL sends Texas pecans, the best anywhere. This year we are home for the first time in four years. I am roasting a turkey and brussel sprouts (posted a recipe a couple of weeks ago, maybe). Making taters and a pie. The rest I am going to let Whole Foods cook for me because it's just me, DH and my little kids who would rather eat their weight in butter, I mean potatoes, than eat any other delicious things.

Dini, I saw the question asked earlier about where you actually live but I never did see an answer. What country are you in? Love the sound of the seasonings for this squash. I have a butternut squash recipe that has shrimp and coconut milk in it and it's great. So lemongrass, etc. sounds wonderful too.

No fun having to wait around when you just want to get home, but at least you had something great to look at.
Your stuffing for that squash sounds great - Can ya share the recipe?

And you all are making me hungry and homesick with all your Thanksgiving recipes and dishes!
I tried to keep the tradition of celebrating it here but it just didn't work because everyone had go to work and school that day, it's all just business as usual! Thankful in my heart though!
One of my friends that usually came to my house for Thanksgiving and I love turkey dinner so much that one year we had 5 thanksgivings. We would either have a small turkey or just the breast and we'd have our favorite sides. We'd do it on a Sunday afternoon. It didn't seem like nearly as much work as on Thanksgiving maybe because we didn't have appetizers and lots of desserts. Plus there were only 5 of us.
Since I've moved to FL we both miss having our turkey celebrations.
Just checking in to say goodnight! Long hard day at work and did not get to check in here at all. Bowled on league tonight and then home to post a card for the color challenge. Oh and everyone in this house loves potatoes in any shape form or fashion, lol!
I'm glad to see a couple of you still posting. It's 11:45 here and past my bedtime since I'm going to work at the law office tomorrow. Thankfully I don't need to be there until 10:00 a.m.
Since I last posted, I made my October Christmas CCC12 cards. I'll post them by tomorrow night (I hope). I used the new folded Christmas tree made from a half circle, used an embossing folder, and heat embossed the sentiment. No problem making one of those, but making 8 seemed to take forever. Now to make my November CCC12 cards...
Just coming back to talk to myself and feel the love... my pumpkin is cooling in the oven and my house smells so good!
I know a couple of people have asked where I live... I purposely don't mention where I am online because our mission has asked us to be discreet... we personally are not in danger, but we are always under scrutiny, so I keep it vague in public forums. You can email me privately, though, and I'd be glad to answer questions!

Oh my, that does sound delicious, Dina. We eat a lot of Indian but I think at the moment I'm in a lighter Vietnamese/Indonesian/Thai mode. My Far Eastern Cookery book is getting a good workout these days.
Gail's Prune Whip sounds lovely too, I might try that!!
Laughing at superjen and her mashed butter. Spotting her signature the other day and reflecting on the amount of butter I'd used that morning made me think I must ask one of the guys in work if he's ever tried making Joel Robuchon's mashed potatoes.
